  1. Recently completed video games

I finally finished Playstation Battle Star Royale yadda yadda whatever... The game doesn't seems as polished as I expected and even the Cartoon Network one was more fun to me, I don't know why, but I kept forgetting which one I was playing, which is probably not a good thing. It's rather upsetting to see that almost a third of the roster is not even from Sony, Big Daddy, Dante, Raiden, Heihachi, Isaac Clarke and 90% use almost nothing but guns. I also don't think they "got" Smash Bros, or that they changed in ways that made it much worse than it should. In this game you fill in a meter for super moves, but you can only kill them using a super move, which can be very annoying since they are very easy to cancel or dodge, or course, you could use the higher level super moves which are harder to avoid, but as you get to higher levels the meter fills up even slower. The thing is, most moves barely fill up the meter, making the game a chore, specially since most levels are "see how many kills you can get before the times run out". At the same time, it's actually fun to play as characters you like and see them use items or weapons from their games, and while the plot is as dumb as it gets, it's also almost funny to see why things happen. Sweet Tooth fights Kratos because he knocked down his ice cream? Yes, please! The companion part is stupid, they are just there to cheer you when you kill several enemies with one super move, they probably did this because if they actually did anything on screen, people would have cried fowl and that was an obvious Smash Bros rip off, which they already do... and the other Smash Bros rip offs do anyway. And why does the game have TWO Coles? Yes, Evil Cole as a few moves different from normal Cole, but seriously, I would rather have a different character from a series I didn't even care about than a clone. PS: Heihachi has the best super moves, his level 2 ones summons Kuma to help him for a while and his level 3 one ties everybody on screen to rocket ship and launches them to space. Call me crazy, but I'd choose Cartoon Network's Punch Time Super Explosion XL over this game. *shrugs*
  2. Keiji Inafune's Mighty No.9

Geez, the moment the video starts its pans up a building where Inafune wears blue and puts on a blue cap? That's awesome! And so was the guy with obvious sticky taped "Metool" construction hat! You know what? I don't care if this is just the first Mega Man "remade" in HD, I WANT IT! (And no, this wouldn't make me a hypocrite after picking on the Leisure Suit Larry remake, because that game was remade a thousand times!) I wonder if it's called Mighty No. 9 because he refuses to acknowledge Mega Man 9 and 10? Or maybe I'm reading too much into things. What's really making me curious is to see Capcom's reaction to this Kickstarter? Will they try to make a Mega Man if the Kickstarter succeeds? Should this upset us? Would anybody even buy a Mega Man game from Capcom after Xover?
  3. Books, books, books...

Unless it's some other "Brave New World", you guys just missed an eBook bundle that had, I got it just in time. Speaking of which, have I talked about eBook bundles before? So far, the only ones are StoryBundle and Bundle of Holding, which tends to be by people who work in the RPG industry and sometimes are just table top game manuals. I think I just discovered that I love "fact" books, I've always loved and I can't put them down, I even got one called the "Loo Companion", which is about well... toilets, a chunk of the book was painful toilet humor, but the facts? I loved them! Even though some sections were cringe worthy for horrifying reasons, like "Monarchy Deaths on the Loo". I don't how many of you know of "The Nostalgia Chick", but she started the endeavor of making "50 Shades of Green", a book that's like you know which, but made "terribad" on purpose, it's now called "Awoken" and it's about... sexy Cthulhu? And they even made up a fake writer behind it, with a fake webpage and everything... I haven't read it yet, but last I heard, it had reached #2 in Amazon's YA in the "paranormal" section.
  4. Cartoons!

I'm pretty sure I loved every old cartoon and I could still enjoy then today up until... Mega Babies, which was just gross for the sake of being gross, in the 80's there were gross cartoons with slime and snot, but Mega Babies had them vomit literal river with a lot of detail, "fill" their diaper until it was bigger than a truck and it was pretty messed up... And not in the way Ren & Stimpy or South Park, here it was just messed up for the sake of being messed up and it WAS intended for kids.
  5. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Really? This is just my second one, but we did get the game a month later than America... I guess you'll have the ultimate store now and maybe persimmons? By they way, how many people are paying attention to turnip prices? Tomorrow is Sunday and I might give it a go and I'd feel safer if I had other people I could sell my turnips to.
  6. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Congrats! Now for the exterior challenge! As for me, I feel so validated now... I have almost all the rewards for the exterior challenge, but I can only get one installed a day, once I have them all, I'll try to remember to post a pic of it here.
  7. Psychonauts

Series 2? Was there a series one? I think there was ONE Raz figure before, but that doesn't count as a series.
  8. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Well, in case some people didn't know, sometimes "lurking" isn't enough to catch some bugs, sometimes the rarer bugs can only be caught if you "lurk" and gently push forwards bit by bit, step by step. Yesterday I had a unicorn in my camping site, so obviously I did everything in my power to have him move in, after spending an hour I realized I had already maxed out my villager count.... T_T
  9. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

A lazy kangaroo moved in and while I didn't like the character... I couldn't bear to do the pitfall thing to her, it seems all villagers will ask you if they can move at out eventually, so I'll just wait... maybe she's grow on me? Oh, I also have a new villager called Olaf, an anteater that looks like a matador, who says..."whiffa", it's not a swear word, but it does sound foul, so I hope I can change it soon. XP
  10. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Sometimes the nickname catches one and everybody uses eventually, although many will ask if they can before doing it, other times you can ask them what to call you or they'll give you a suggestion. Did you have a visitor? Maybe they taught him that? Although it might just be their personality. Which reminds me, I'm not sure, but I think the "problematic citizen" thing is only for resetting catchphrases, nicknames and clothes, in case somebody gave them something offensive.
  11. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Well, with the Streetpass function, you should be able to get a ton of homes in the HRA Showcase thing, which is neat since you can buy the furniture of the homes showcased! I finally hit over 150K in the HRA challenge, so I started the theme challenge, I didn't know it only had to be one room, which will make things easier. I don't know if this was mentioned before but if you find a giant clam sell, you get Reese's husband to turn it into a music box if you have a tune in your inventory, which is pretty neat. And today I had a staggering THREE special villagers, one in the tent, Gulliver and Phineas the badge guy.
  12. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I was asking about for help getting HRA points and someone just gave me two pieces of furniture to complete my set! I'm sure to get the points now, he had a beautifully landscaped city to boot! I wish I had taken some pics. As nice as this guy was, I could tell he felt a bit unsure at first and wouldn't take his eyes off me, but it felt wrong to just take the furniture without taking a tour of the town.
  13. anime

Yeah, the rest of the cast was much more interesting than the main characters... Oh, and I think I watched season 2? It didn't have the first season for some reason, I'm pretty sure the first part is much better since the whole "I love my sister" isn't as obvious?
  14. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Guys, does anybody have access to a cabin bookcase? I need one to complete the set and I need to complete the set before the month is over and I lose all the HRA points fro August items.
  15. anime

I don't think I can help much... Maybe Panty & Stocking? Thanks to Crunchyroll I'm starting to watch more anime and I've only watched two shows so far. Japanese Folktales, which are kid friendly and charming and... Oreimo... I'm not sure why I watched it... it's about a brother and sister obsessed with erotic games and anime... who are in love with each other? I know I should be disgusted, but... it's so hilariously terri-bad! And of course, it's also a harem thingie... Are those things still popular? And is it me or does every other anime have at least one otaku or mangaka? I started watching a show about Kaasan's Mom Life, it's kinda like Crayon Shinchan except the main character is the mom... and she's a mangaka? I gotta say, I LOVE the Crunchyroll app, you can pause a show on the web broswer and the app will take over at the same spot! SORCERY!
  16. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Don't tell me Redd's prizes when timed exlcusives too? I found out too late that you could get a different hat each time you visited the fireworks show and only got a few of Redd's prizes, none of them seemed that special.
  17. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

Isn't Towerfall going to be released on iOS and PC later? I'm surprised nobody here has talked about this "delightful" OUYA commercial.
  18. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

You can already get this conversation 20% off at Green Man Gaming with the coupon code GMG-CHRISTMASDUCK.
  19. Plants vs Zombies 2: It's About Time

Goddamit, I was relatively excited about PVZ 2 but after reading this, there I no way I'm ever buying or playing this game... Popcap was bought by Zynga or EA or one "those" kinda of companies, right? I really hope it's this and it's not Popcap think this is OK.
  20. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I'm posting this in case anybody didn't know this and cares about the Happy Room Academy. It seems August is the best month for "lucky" items that give you 7.777 points since we have the fireworks (three of them), all the cicadas, even the shell, the snakehead, Napoleon fish and the sweetfish all give 7.777 points each. I only had the fireworks, but I'll know by tomorrow if the rest work too, if so, this would be the easiest month to get 100.000 HRA points, 150.000 points even!
  21. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Wow, I'm glad to see in this thread that I'm not the only person who thinks the same ways about game length, I really thought I was the only one. I thought I was the only one who "scoffed at their ignorance".
  22. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

No, I have a problem with everybody else who seems to think the the price of game should be as high as it's length and I find it hilarious that not long ago gamers made fun of JRPGs for being too long "sloggy" wastes of time when that's every AAA game I've played lately.
  23. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I was lucky and had a full set for Gracie's first visit, but I only have three items in some categories, will that be enough? I can't find a full ornate or modern set. :| By the way, now that I have a police station I can ask Cooper to know if there is anybody around, not only didn't I find out that you can have TWO special visitor at the same time, but yesterday he never told me Redd was visiting. I remember someone here telling me that if you go into the museum where there are tarantulas and scorpions they fight, but it seems the beetles fight too! Awesome! XD
  24. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Of course, he has to comment on the game's length/price ratio...
  25. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

This is mildly related to the topic, but I decided to craft the Gone Home Steam badge and got a Euro Trucking Simulator 2 discount, which I found amusing as an Idle Thumbs fan.
