That's why I say "more or less", the adventure game was born when they tried to port a D&D game to PC and it had minor combat. To be more specific, to me an adventure game is like a table top RPG game where your main "weapon" is your brain, but that doesn't mean they can't have combat, it's just not it's primary focus. I've recently been thinking about game genres a lot... maybe it's about time to start a new topic about it?
  3. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

A part of the The Internet seems to be upset that Will Wheaton is joining the voice cast... But is Elijah Wood confirmed? I'd hate to say it, but I'm more on the side of professional voice actors over celebrity voice actors.

I've beaten a few games that have recently popped up on Steam but I had from indie bundle: -Oozi: Earth Adventure: A very simple platform game will a very "old Ubi-soft" cartoonish "Rayman-esque" graphics. It's pretty basic, your only form of attack is jumping and stomping, they manage to mix it up enough to make it interesting, that and the fact that's it's short doesn't hurt the game either. It was pretty disappointing to get the final piece of gear and not gain any new skill. I wonder if the only reason I made it through this game was because I was listening to the Turrican soundtrack. -Fester Mudd: A love letter to the golden era of adventure games, that is just so-so. The puzzles are pretty basic (and so is the comedy), the game is pretty short... I wouldn't recommend getting it unless it's in a bundle or cheap. Also... the obligatory Monkey Island reference! A guy breaks out of prison thanks to the very potent booze you gave him... Pretty subtle, miss-able... Way to go!

In my book an adventure game is more or less an RPG without combat, so yeah, this counts to me. Is that option really in the game or is it a trainer?
  6. Video Game Baby - Idle Parents

It's really getting hard to find games we can play together and that he can understand how to play. The LEGO games seem to hard for him, he doesn't seem to understand what we have to do to continue, so I just play in the hub, but that get's boring after a while. I started to play arcade games with him, which are good since they are over quickly, but he usually just dies, so I tried to set cheats in MAME and program my controller to give him continues when he died, but that isn't helping him learn either. He's also too young for Putt-Putt he likes the cat, but doesn't understand what the game wants him to do. So basically I played a bunch of "baby games" only to find out "babies" find them too hard. :|

Banjo & Kazooie Freezeey Peak counts, the level has a Christmas tree and presents and everything! Also James Pond 2: Robocod... it's all about saving Santa Claus!
  8. Video Game Baby - Idle Parents

He's here right now actually, for the weekend, at first I had some hope since we played with actual toys for a few minutes until he wanted to play games with me... In the end I gave up and gave him a DS with an old Kirby game, he never wants to stop and I just want to have breakfast and a shower... should I feel bad? He was playing games on a tablet before I woke up anyway. :|
  9. Tomb Raider

Geez, at least "last gen" consoles had HD collections, now we only get one? I also wonder if all "Next gen super HD" games will just be called "Definitive Editions" too?
  10. PS Vita

I'm hoping Europe will get it.... even it's just digitally, like most games from Japan.
  11. GOTY.cx 2013

True, but it's still a very rare thing.
  12. The Official Video Game Music Corner

I like this so much better than the original version.
  13. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Strangers in Paradise Digital comic sale!

Zelda A Link Between Worlds: It completely breaks the Zelda formula but it's still the best Zelda game in ages, the fact it's not upsetting nearly anybody should prove how good it is. Cat Poke: If there is a free indie game section, this should be in it... It's the most fun free game I've played all year. Gone Home: Ditto Miasmata: A cartography game that's cool and interesting? That's gotta count for something! Ittle Dew: If there is one type of puzzle game I like is the "Zelda puzzle" style, and this one has perfected it. Viscera Clean Up Detail: Must clean everything.... Must pick up every bullet... Deadpool: A superhero game that isn't a LEGO one and is fun? How is that even possible!? I could add more, but this is a good list... until I change my mind...
  15. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

OK, I gave the game another chance and played another level, it's was a pure slog of finding statues that acted as keycards, with constant lazy lockdown arenas and they introduced a new annoying enemy that spawned skeletons constantly and raised a shield... because filler! After finally getting the sword... the game says this is just a part of the sword and we need more parts... And then gives you a boss battle where the sword is useless. And to make things worse it's one of those bosses that you have to spend ages for it to reveal it's weak point and you can only do minor damage before you have to start over again. That's it.... I quit! You can tell from the references that these guys love Croteam and the enemies feels Serious Sam-esque... But you don't fight them in a SS-esque way, none of the weapons are good for crowd control... even the explosive ones are pathetic even on the easiest setting. The sword powers aren't that useful either. Why make a game where you usually have to fight a horde of monsters at a time but make it very hard to hit more than one at a time?
  16. PS Vita

I love Earth Defense Force on the Vita, although it kinda suck that you have to beat the game to play as a new character. Alien Breed is also fun and better than that trilogy Team 17 released recently.
  17. Video Game Baby - Idle Parents

I kinda regret starting to play video games with my four year old nephew, he no longer plays normally with me and he just doesn't want to stop... Once he peed himself while playing just because he didn't want to stop... The fact that he's in the age where repetitive stuff doesn't bother him isn't helping either, for weeks he'd just play the first three levels of New Mario Wii, and I couldn't do anything since he wanted to be player one. I guess they don't let him play games at home? But then again, it was my sister who insisted that we play games together so I don't think she disapproves of him playing games.
  18. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Augh... Shadow Warrior 2013 is really getting on my nerves, the game FORCES you to kill EVERY enemy before letting you continue and the pacing is terrible... I'm at level six and the objective still hasn't changed... get the sword. The fact the levels and enemies are repetitive as hell isn't helping. It's an obvious case of "Let's make this game ten times longer because gamers think games should be longer even though the pacing, level design and mechanics will make you wish we didn't make this game so long". Since I kinda liked the original, I'm still thinking of quitting instead of just quitting directly. Sheesh, I'm practically avoiding AAA games because they are constantly making them 90% filler, but if smaller games are doing this too.... I don't know what I'll do. Please, tell me the pacing or something gets better eventually in this game. :|
  19. anime

Well, thanks to Proxmate Crunchyroll finally thinks I'm American and is no longer region locked.... WOW! You are missing out on so many show because of region locking! I finally get to watch Kill la Kill and Attack on Titan!
  20. Books, books, books...

People have been saying I'd enjoy Roald Dahl. And since I'm Spanish, I think I should look into Borges in it's original language.
  21. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Since we don't have Kickstarter thread for comics yet... here is a Kickstarter for "The Whole Story 2014". It's a bit more ambitious than last year's and it's looking more interesting, but it might not reach it's goal, which would be heart breaking.
  22. Recently completed video games

I recently completed: Ducktales Remastered: I'm going to commit heresy.... I kinda think this is a better game than the original. If you want to be traumatized forever, play it it's hardest difficulty, if you want to play it just to collect the riches, you can play on easier settings. Jake Kauffman did an awesome job and the remixed version is just as good as the original and I like how the added more stuff to make each level feels more like a mini-sode of DuckTales. The boss battles are more intense and I'm pretty sure they changed the game and were you find the heart upgrades were the treasures you should get after defeating the boss... or at least some special treasure. I do remember each level having some rare and valuable treasure... Anyway, yes I would choose this version over the original, it's that good and I played a year or two ago, so it's kinda fresh in my memory. Chainsaw Warrior: It's a board game turned into a mobile game, ported to PC and I loved it... It's tough but fair? You have a very limited time limit to stop an evil entity from destroying the city and it can only be destroyed with one weapon. With so much radiation, mutant zombies, traps and other chaotic elements it's a blast! On my first run some guy just stole my special gun and I could no longer win... the second time I rolled my hand to hand combat so high that even without my chainsaw I could smite anything with relative ease! Stanley Parable: I just loved the game, I ranted about it the appropriate thread. Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior: Should I be worried that I 100% this game? I actually do enjoy cleaning and I might have OCD... I guess this game is kinda an OCD test. If you're willing to clean up every stain, pick up every bullet and even use the "sniffer" compulsively until it stops beeping in every inch of every room... You might have control issues.
  23. The Stanley Parable

I started playing it this morning and I love how: Also I love how:
  24. The most niche podcast you have listened too

I don't think Night Vale is really that niche, I only started to listen to it because the people I follow on Twitter and Tumblr wouldn't stop talking about it. Then again, it wasn't that many people talking about it, they were just very enthusiastic.
