I have a contract job to show up to some marketing firm to do flash banners for a few days. I'm so nervous and anxious and I can't sleep. It's nearly 5 AM and I have to be there by 10 AM. Sheesh. I can't get it out of my mind that I'm going to screw up by either taking too long (which is my weakest spot) or not having enough knowledge of what to do technically (should they suddenly ask me for heavy coding, which they should have no impression I could do since I already said up front). Now I'm doing it on no sleep. I guess I just want to do well because it pays insanely well hourly and there's a possibility the company might ask me back for more work. In the mean time I have been taking tests to be a mailman. It would be super strange for me if I got that job, but it pays well hourly. Just hope it's not crazy long hours should everything work out.

I'm glad it's over for them, but it really should not have happened in the first place. Hopefully this awful case can be referenced as the right cause of action should another hospital feel it is their work to keep a brain dead woman on life support in the off chance that a fetus may not die (let alone equal a healthy baby). Hope the scars aren't too bad for the family.

Ah, nevermind I stand corrected. However, even though one of the recent Idle Thumbs podcast episodes said that producers are always majorly involved in the making of a game in Japan, I question if that's really ever the case, Nintendo being the major reason for my skepticism. There's just no way in my mind that Shigeru Miyamoto is creatively involved the many games he is credited as a producer on every year. I'm guessing with other Nintendo producers it may be similar.

Well both Yoshi's Island DS and Yoshi's Island 3DS are outsourced sequels done by Artoon/Arzest (of Blinx the Cat fame) and not by Nintendo, so that would probably explain why you shouldn't bother. No one from the team of the original Yoshi's Island is involved in them at all. I'd consider them pretty lame cash in titles, honestly.

Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!
syntheticgerbil replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Video Gaming
That's one of my favorite adventures, warts and all. However, I remember the prison break being especially stressful and not very fun. -
Thank you Clyde, I will have to return to the game and use your tips. I will probably enjoy it more that way, since I kept putting that guy in the line of fire and doing pretty much nothing with him.

I think they have those moving pod companies that might save some money. Do you have a lot of stuff? If the furniture costs more to move than to replace it might be better to just search Goodwill and stuff to replace your furniture. But if you have nice furniture, that's probably a terrible idea. You should try to go work at Robot after you are done with this company, since you'll be in Dallas and all.

How to effectively use them. Also I should probably go back and read the whole thread before posting again so I don't look like a total asshole just in case this has all been answered before.

Admittedly, I didn't get very far, but I don't know if I was completely understanding the game mechanics. Is there a reason why the big shield guys hardly do any damage? It kind of sucks that they wield heavy swords and are very bulky but don't do much. I thought breaking the armor first would make a lot of difference, but perhaps it didn't. On the Oregon Trail type stuff, can you get stuck if you don't have enough supplies and not enough days to rest to restore your crew? I'm having fun so far though, I don't know if I will be able to do a complete playthrough of everything very soon. I don't really understand what's going on with the story, and I'm sure it'll make more sense the second playthrough. Especially because a lot of strange names of towns and people are being thrown around and I don't have much of a clue of who is who.

Why has this company been doing this for months? I want you to get this job so you can figure out what the hell is going on!

Has anyone ever been fleeced out of a valuable Steam item?
syntheticgerbil replied to Niyeaux's topic in Idle Banter
I had the same thing going on last year. I was trying to unload the stuff for $100 which seemed to be the going rate for Sam and Max items, but I wanted actual cash and not Steam cash/game trades. A lot of people messaged me after I posted on one of those TF2 boards that analyze what is in your inventory and seemed to be really obnoxious and wanting to screw me over (or at least I think that's what they wanted to do). One guy was trying to lure me by saying if I took screenshots of our Steam chat, then Paypal would not allow him to do a chargeback, which is apparently the major problem with real money trades. Having gone through more than enough Paypal disputes since I've had it, I know how little Paypal cares and tends to favor the buyer (and probably for good reason). Eventually I just sold it to a friend for $100 because I could trust him and he wanted the stuff for whatever reason even though he hardly plays TF2 anymore. I told him to trade them for games or to have money in his Steam Wallet, but he didn't seem to care to do that. I kind of felt guilty like I pushed something on him, even though he insists I didn't. My reason for wanting to sell this stuff for real cash is I tend to not play games on Steam if I don't have to and I already own all the Steam games I want for now. What sucks is originally mid-2012 I left a message on some deserted TF2 board offering to just sell the Steam code for the items so I wouldn't have to bother trading, but no one cared. Last week I had a guy e-mail offering to do a buy it now through eBay for the code to ensure protection but unfortunately he was almost two years too late. I totally would have done it that way though. That's my unhelpful rambling. I don't know if a scam is really possible when you aren't using real money if you don't accept the trade. -
B-but I don't really enjoy the overreaching conspiracy theories besides the initial shock of the "what the fuck?!" factor. Like the first time someone explained Reptilians to me because SOMEONE IN THE OFFICE BELIEVED IN THEM AND TRIED TO GET OTHERS TO BELIEVE was just insane. I went on Youtube to find everyone's proof of these evil reptiles living behind holograms of real people but was disappointing after the first one because they are all so god damn long winded. Why can't people make 30 second videos on New World Order and Illuminati type conspiracy theories for bitesize consumption? Then I might have more fun.

The Grim Fandango reference in Curse wasn't entirely clear when it first came out because Grim Fandango wasn't even out yet at that point. When I first played Curse I only vaguely knew about Grim Fandango and it had encouraged me to download the HUGE 10 mb trailer. At least I think it was 10 megabytes. I remember it taking a few hours on our dialup. With that in context, what on earth is there to spoil?

I promise you I will if anything like that works out! Might need your real name at the point though or else I'll just go on and on about Twig.

Oh wow, the Banner Saga creative director just added me on Linkedin out of no where. I hope this means good things! If not, it still cheers me up.

Finally the movie comes! I bought the DVD set for Minuscule years ago when I was in Paris and had a good time watching all of them. Hope it comes to the U.S.!

My friend made me play this with him for about 15 minutes this evening. I guess the nidhogg is a worm that also sort of reminds me of a penis.

Oh right, I didn't even consider that aspect. Yeah, the way everyone is intertwined in the goings on of their neighbors and friends in that city are very well put together. Everyone can usually tell you about someone else in town you have either already met or have yet to meet.
