  1. So Much Ireland (Help me plan my trip!)

Awesome, yeah my wife put Newgrange on the list from one of our travel guides. It looks so cool!
  2. Tex Murphy - Project Fedora Kickstarter

Well I think they original touted Martian Memorandum (and to some extents Mean Streets) as an FMV game for heavily featuring video recorded actors and speech. However, the Tex Murphy series are maybe not exactly what people think of when they think of FMV games because there's very little of the Dragon's Lair type decision making and on the rails type stuff of many Sega CD games. I sort of forgot how most FMV games played though of the garbage I did touch. I don't think most of them had the full 3D run around and dig through stuff engine that is sort of like Gone Home in many respects.
  3. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Yeah all of that other stuff is okay. It seems to be be some kind of law for video games, but for whatever reason it does not pertain to Ebay UK.
  4. So Much Ireland (Help me plan my trip!)

I don't know what to take away from that Crystal Swing video. Why do you guys like Garth Brooks? I thought everyone stopped caring about him late 90s. I thought maybe he had quit music. Why? You guys also brought everyone U2 and One Direction. Do you hate music in Ireland?
  5. The threat of Big Dog

That's sort of what picks up our trash. A guy comes out and places it correctly. Fucking thing litters a lot or it just doesn't get all of our garbage. Makes me mad.
  6. Idle Digging - Shovel Knight

Wow, I saw that linked from GameFaqs the other day (the 3rd I think) and only about 20 codes were written in to the spread sheet. That didn't take long at all.
  7. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I still enjoy the Genesis era games and not really in what I feel is a nostalgic way. Sonic CD is pretty bad though, I don't understand the like for that game besides the awesome cutscenes. But yeah, I don't really like to let on that I was a huge Sonic fan for about 4-5 years of my life when I was young. I used to rent the tapes of both of the shows and I had about almost a complete collection of the Sonic comics up to 60 issues that I threw on ebay in 2008 and got a few hundred for. I don't really miss them, they were in my parents attic separate from the comics I did like. I think finding out about Scud the Disposible Assassin changed my view on comics forever, Sam and Max was a started to that though. But even though I gave up Sonic extended I think in the 7th grade, I still tried to play all of the games up until I was 20. I think the comibination of playing the bullshit of Sonic Adventure 2 (to 100% no less, my OCD drove me, but if only I could get that time back) and Sonic Heroes (I quit). Then I started paying attention to video game credits and realized what mostly likely made the early Sonic games good was the designer Hirokazu Yasuhara. He didn't work on Sonic CD, which probably explains the suckage there, and quit to go to Naughty Dog shortly after designing the special stages for Sonic 3D Blast Saturn and then Floigan Brothers (which I haven't played yet). He has been working at Nintendo for a while designing stages for the Mario Vs. Donkey Kong series. Such sweet irony.
  8. Is there a way to delete trading cards on Steam?

I'd suggest sell everything. I've been buying cards for the art and then the art is still there after I throw the cards back on the marketplace. So really you can never get rid of the "badges" or whatever once you have started. They will always be in that area of your steam account. It's a really idiotic thing because I would feel so much better if this cash were going to the developer in a significant amount for the transaction but it's user based. I guess that's why we have this stupid marketplace booming with terrible prices for certain items in the first place though.
  9. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Gah I think it's time for me to finally buy this game since I loved boxed editions. Sucks it's only on Amazon UK, because they are assholes who will sell no video game of any sort to U.S. citizens. Some kind of dipshit rules. So I will have to buy from Ebay UK and that means no money for the publishers/designers (I think?).
  10. No Man's Sky

I really love your screen name.
  11. Idle Thumbs 165: KeLo. Is. Here.

Now you have to make something to do with dogs! Just not dead, please. I remember that in the first Metal Gear Solid (or at least Twin Snakes), you were not allowed to kill the dogs. If you shot them they would end up killing you. You could put them to sleep with the tranquilizer, but if they woke up you were so screwed. The only way to efficiently solve that area was to have the dogs love you. Sort of how Zelda games are with chickens. Is it so bad for game designers to put in things like that?
  12. Idle Thumbs 165: KeLo. Is. Here.

I have never once laughed when hearing Prairie Home Companion on NPR. In fact I don't even know what the set up of the show is or what kind of joke the audience is laughing so hysterically at. It's so depressing when that show is on and I don't have anything else to listen to in the car. I imagine it's because this program appeals to the type of person who reads Family Circus and chuckles. I couldn't tell you, I was a Calvin and Hobbes boy. And Garrison Keiller's voice, oh god kill me. When I lived in Houston, if I were just a few minutes late to work, suddenly all news would shut off and his terrible voice would come on and read his little Writer's Almanac segment. I just can't take the pauses in his delivery. It's so awkward and unnerving to me I can't understand why anyone feels this man has an amazing voice. It's a voice alright, but fuck. I wish I could find the clip about this on The Simpsons but no dice.
  13. Yesterday a woman in my class announced she had seen the movie and that it was great. Everyone else kind of groaned so she backpedaled and said she was watching for the visuals and not the story. And I guess they had to give her that. But I contest that these visuals are complete shit. The Transformer movie designs have been terrible since the very first one. It's not like they were originally more than just clunky 80s era looking things, but the new ones are just a mess of chrome and bad composition. There's no breathing spaces on their body, it's all just one metallic thing after another and the characters have absolutely no focal point. Their silhouttes also suck. Maybe there's some plot point for why they are just a god damn mess, but I don't care Michael Bay. It's things like these that really put Pacific Rim on a pedestal and makes me appreciate it, even though by far it's not anywhere near Del Toro's best. Also Guillermo refuses to use mocap for things like that and feels you get better results with real animators, but that's a story for a different thread.
  14. Idle Thumbs 165: KeLo. Is. Here.

Wait, this episode had no Kojima discussion at all. So much lies :(
  15. That's my thoughts on the issue, Ucantalas. I think it's also because almost every show these days seems to try to shoot for a 24 episode season when I seem to recall shows being way less in the 90s and earlier, unless they were extremely popular like The Simpsons. Also I was actually thinking about movie length a few weeks ago after reading some bullshit in an imdb.com forum thread where those old codgers bitch about new things. One of their gripes was that kids these days don't have the attention span to sit longer than 90s minutes for whatever good long epic movie they love. I call bullshit because it seems that most movies are longer than ever these days. Or on top of that, split in to multiple parts intentionally.
  16. Life

I wish you great success Jay, also your clown is really creeping me the fuck out.
  17. Idle Thumbs 160: Die Übiverse

The perpetrator shall be named Jake Rodkin!
  18. Anyone Remember?

Holy shit, I forgot that one of, "What is game?" e-mails were mine. The babby one, and then Steve cleverly said you tape two Gamecubes together. Awesome. I also remember they did not have any clue why anyone wrote in, "What is game?" until it was pointed out in the forums. I feel sad these days about my wizard voicemail stealing the raping through a hole joke. I made a rape joke . Oops. That blowjob e-mail was great though. I wish they would read more bizarre e-mails. People tend to ramble these days.
  19. Happy Birthday!

    Stalker.
  20. Idle Thumbs 164: The Seed of a Sneeze

The Kojima episode is probably going to bum me the fuck out for many reasons.
  21. Happy Birthday!

Wait, how can you tell when it's someone's birthday here? I thought they birthday feature disappeared leading to this thread's death. Anyway, late birthday wishes you two!
  22. The Kid in Amurrica (Woah-oah)

Just search yelp for the restaurants with the poorest service and then you know you can go in there and not bother tipping.
  23. Idle Thumbs 164: The Seed of a Sneeze

Hey I don't read that. Sorry, must have skimmed. EDIT: Haha wow, went back. I guess I didn't read the first three pages of this fucking thread at all. I am shame.
  24. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

One time I went through every file combination just to see what Guybrush would say after realizing there were some original responses around. I also read every book description card in the Monkey Island 2 library, but there were no long animations to wait on so it wasn't as painful. Also it was much more clever. Fucking OCD
  25. I used to love Gremlins 2 as a kid besides having to cover my eyes from the violence, but I remember watching it much later in my adolescent years and finding it really not funny and seeming a little bit cheap.
