He was also against all punctuation except for periods. It was driving me mad.

Oh haha, I sort of know that guy. I've talked to him a few times around town and he recently gave a speech to these kids at a game camp I worked at. To me it just sounded like early DOS Epic or Apogee games.

Yeah that's not fair, you should get paid way more than that for your time and expertise.
  4. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

Oh that would explain why I don't think I've ever seen that animation. There's pretty much no reason to ever create a draw three times in a row in any of the regular monkey fights, since you want to get that move you learn and try it out.
  5. A Super Fun Quiz for everyone!

My guess is Jazz Jackrabbit or a Jill of the Jungle game.

$3,000 a semester as in like six months for $3,000?
  7. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

The thing is, I looked for that on one playthrough and I seem to remember no monkey actually does that animation during a draw. Perhaps Guybrush does? I would be curious to see the range of animations during a draw but I can't seem to find a good video for that. Either way, it's silly to me that giant LeChuck would carry out that exact action. Plus he keeps crushing him. It's so dumb. EDIT: Found a video in fast forward with monkey draw animations and only two played. Once the monkey just kind of swung it's arms around and all of the rest of the times it kept doing that "come on" movement with one hand. Guybrush only went through two animations as well, one where he cracks his knuckles and one where he puts his thumbs up to his ears. Wish I could know conclusively if that animation did ever play. Maybe Jojo Jr. did it at some point. Gah, so obscure, what a bad puzzle. I am convinced you could go through the game and never see that animation ahead of time.

That's not exactly the original art though, it was kind of given the Princess Bride treatment by the 256 color team. I don't think Ron Gilbert was too satisfied with it, going by something he said on his blog a few years ago. However I find them pretty similar even though Steve P.'s original EGA artwork is somewhat less realistic. Not anywhere as drastic as the switch between that and the Special Edition. Also funny you wrote Monkey Kombat like that, that's how I did it first playthrough I remember. Later I used this: The PS2 version pretty much does half of that for you, and it's probably for the better. The last puzzle still makes no god damn sense to me. Why does LeChuck crush Ozzie because of a draw? What? I'd personally say maybe move on to Season 1 of Sam and Max or Tales of Monkey before you bother with those special editions.

Yeah but the thing is another person in the crowd could have a concealed handgun just as well and be a hero when the shooting starts. THINK OF THAT PROTECTION! THINK OF THE HEROISM! I feel extremely safe knowing there's many heroes around me at all times.

My experience in Austin is just multiple companies running people as contract workers for the max year (?) using their equipment, waiting for the contract to run out and either put a waiting period between the next contract so it looks good to the state of Texas or just hiring a different person. Bioware Austin was just a shady mess of this, and it's sort of guessed that about 250 or more of the 500 of the people they let go in the year of Jedi Knights New Order Time's launch were contract. Also these contracts were not hourly, still a fixed monthly sum, just no benefits or chance of unemployment insurance. This also prevents them from paying a higher percentage of unemployment to the state because it looks like they hardly ever let anyone go to the state.

Well most other countries get government benefits such as sweet healthcare that doesn't cause you to go bankrupt so a lot of the union need is offset.
  12. A Super Fun Quiz for everyone!

I didn't know the pictures actually referred to blurry spots of the covers. That said, I still couldn't figure out what #10 is. Perhaps I have never actually heard it.

So uhh, do any of your guys translate stuff? I sort of have no money though, maybe I could draw you a picture?

Well I guess some people might be without their infinite climax this year.

That's the worst, I so wish labor wasn't continuously taken advantage of by certain companies. I'm guessing both situations all of the other employees just accept it?

I don't think it matters if the game is ironic or not. Part of what makes the game is the sexualized aspect of it. So there will be objectification because that's a Bayonetta game. I think the Polygon review is ridiculous to dock the score because of the essence of the game. It would be like someone who reviews B-Horror movies from the 80s and docks the score because there's too much gore and tits. Like that's what people are looking for that would like those movies, why should Bayonetta lose points from its score for doing what it's trying to do? I guess it's the author's point of view, I know that, but wouldn't it be more in the service of readers to find someone in tune with that sort of thing? Bayonetta is one of those extremes where you can't expect it to change without the compromise coming out super lackluster. It's not like Dragon's Crown where the sexualization is obnoxious and grotesque and wouldn't make a difference if it were not in the game. That is where I agree with docking points. Even if we get to a point where games are more equal in their representation, there's still going to be these sexualized guy games like Bayonetta and it's just a constant that you can't expect to change. It would be the same as expecting different of Dead or Alive. And all of this said, I will never play Bayonetta, all of that stuff puts me off and I don't find the game particularly sexy either, just grotesque. But there's more than a few other games that play exactly like Bayonetta with different subject matter, so it is not something I feel I need to criticize or damn someone for liking.

Oh, nevermind that then. Seems like DmC had a pretty long development time then.

Man, that sucks, I had an awful grandmother and I just blocked her out and didn't speak to her from 12 years old and on and just didn't bother with any family trips. My dad hated her as well so it wasn't a big deal. She just made my mom miserable and spoke awfully to her and brought down the other siblings routinely pitting them against eachother (there were 9) until she finally died in 2012. Good riddance in my mind, I wasn't sad one bit and was actually waiting for her to die. I guess you are a nicer person than me, but for someone who is 90 and not my direct parent, I'd never look back. It's your turn now. Why no overtime? Salaried?

I can't wait until Song of the Sea comes out!

I don't really want to support Laika because of all of the bad reviews showing up on Glassdoor. Even if they make good features, it sounds like one of the saddest animation companies to work for now: http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Laika-Inc-Reviews-E221728.htm I guess when your dad owns Nike though, you can do anything. Also I saw Gone Girl, but the plausibility of the story annoyed the shit out of me starting with Oh well, well directed, I wanted to know what was going to happen next at least.

Well I did experience it as imagined the first time. I tried for the trophy after a couple of runs after my first finish. The game is really short so it could have been more horrifying, but when I think of Limbo now I think of a bunch of crate and switch puzzles more than the grotesque 90s majesty of something like Heart of Darkness. The extra PS3 level was a neat idea, making me use stereo sound, but I didn't feel like the imagination behind the game went as far as maybe I would have wanted. I will be playing Inside I think though, thanks for posting that trailer, last I saw of it was a couple of blurry screenshots.
  23. A Super Fun Quiz for everyone!

I swear I know #10, but I think I might be getting it mixed up with a tune from Rayman 2. Argghhhh. I thought maybe Ratchet and Clank because I played that multiple times but I don't think it matches up.
  24. A Super Fun Quiz for everyone!

Another year where I was not playing any video games. So tough, anything I play from this year would have been way after the fact, looking at this list of 2002 releases especially. However, #9 is 3 sounds awesome, but I have no idea what it is. I figured Wind Waker would be somewhere on this list but I don't hear it anywhere.

The more I think about it, the less I like Limbo. It seems so boring compared to other games of its type when I look back on it. Like it could have done more with the environment and puzzles. The spider part was pretty much the only part like that. That said, I did probably help myself dislike the game some by finishing that trophy that requires less than five deaths. I suppose I am waiting to see what Playdead creates next though.
