How can Mary Sue be so small minded?!

Idle Thumbs 210: Pro Fish Smart Fish
syntheticgerbil replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Agreed, the best. -
You'd think they'd employ better animation and art direction for shows that are so important. I know of one person that likes Utena and I'm not convinced, but I hate most things anyway. Something about Eva has always put me off as super nerdy and otaku and not for me. If I wasn't susceptible to renting the tapes from Blockbuster along with the other garbage I was checking out at that time (Ranma, Tenchi Muyo, Crying Freeman), I can't imagine I'd ever change my mind now.

Twin Peaks Rewatch 30: Beyond Life and Death

When I looked that up strange death, I also read the suicide of Jack Nance's wife and it was an extremely sad story. -
Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I think of teen comedies as a world where it's hilarious to eat donuts that have dog semen on them. Not really much in the way of puns. -
Yooka-Laylee: Rare-viving the animal duo platformer that we've all yearned for.

Rayman 2 was best. Too bad these games aren't Rayman 2. -

I thought it was funny, but I can't get too mad because Australia is where I have been importing a lot of PC games, movies, and cartoons the past few years since the U.S. market only releases the most obvious shit on disc nowadays. The exchange rate of the dollar is also in my favor. Also statistically, most Australians die from spiders bites (or are completely devoured) before 40 anyway, so who'd want to live there? -
Finally saw Song of the Sea! Purchased the blu-ray with some extra cash since I missed it in theatres in March. Was gorgeous and I liked the character acting. The layered effects on the background elements were perfect. I feel like the story sort of lost me in the beginning and left me with a bunch of weird indifference with the characters, but it fortunately picked up later. I think it would have helped if the logisitics of the selkie myth were explained better. Even with glancing wikipedia, it's not entirely clear to me what rules we were dealing with.

Oh haha, I thought a mouth ulcer was a hole where water could leak out on to your cheek. I've had one of those before. Ouch.

Twin Peaks Rewatch 30: Beyond Life and Death
syntheticgerbil replied to Jake's topic in Twin Peaks Rewatch Episodes
This is the first time I've finished the show, dropping off sometimes before James disappeared. The last episode was just another helping of stupid nonsense in my eyes. Even though Cooper made it to the Black Lodge it wasn't really any more nonsense than the outside world at this point. To me it was just a bunch of childish trippy scenes with a contrived ending and not funny, scary, or interesting. I never really liked anything directed by David Lynch besides Twin Peaks going into this and now I have concluded that I just don't think I like anything by David Lynch whatsoever. He was funny in that one episode of Louie, I'll give him that. -
Fill it with peanut butter.

Looked up some more art by the artist from the page you posted and holy shit, this guy is great!

Ahaha, good call! Why is Kojima Lego?

And that's what I get for looking up tenga sleeve.

Is there a planned date for release? EDIT: Guess it's only a teaser looking for more funding.

I barely understand what is going on there. I don't even barely. -
That memory card hack is working now? I'd very much prefer that, I will have to look into it, but if it doesn't support imports... maybe not. You don't actually need Swap Magic discs for PS1 titles, all you have to do is open the tray while the PS1 game is booting and switch the disc and any region will work.
-
You could also try Swap Magic with those little metal tabs you can buy that kind of stick on so you can easily swap the discs. I'm not seeing anyone still selling the little PS2 slim tabs anymore, but they are kind of cheap and stick on with adhesive and sometimes too bulky and can scratch discs so you aren't missing anything. This site shows a different way to mod them without buying anything. http://www.instructables.com/id/Mod-a-PlayStation-2-Slimline-for-FREE!-NO-CHIPS!/ You still have to buy the Swap Magic Discs though, which the PAL ones seem to be available here: http://www.ps2swapmagic.com/product_info.php/swap-magic-coder-pal-p-29 There's some NTSC ones on Amazon US for cheaper but then you'd still have to buy another console. Not sure if any of this is a good answer.

Twin Peaks Rewatch 29: Miss Twin Peaks

I can't follow people off handedly referring to chess moves when it shows up as a trope in movies/TV without seeing some sort of visual representation, so they could have kept bullshitting moves and I wouldn't have noticed personally. -
Why is this bilingual requirement so common? Are you in Quebec?

That would be pretty bad, but I don't think her husband will figure it out considering he doesn't seem to have comprehended the tone of just Common People alone. -
Often to relax during interviews, I go in with the idea that I'm not getting this job so it's okay if I mess up a lot of things I may say. I suppose it's because I usually don't get the job, but it's somewhat freeing. Maybe this is counter intuitive, but I suppose it works for me, although it probably doesn't speak well for my self esteem. Also if you can follow up the interview with a thank you letter either by mail or e-mail, that can have an impact even if you didn't interview well. But you probably already know that. Good luck!

Thimbleweed Park: A new adventure game from Ron Gilbert & Garry Winnick!
syntheticgerbil replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Haha I forgot about the podcast after two episodes, but I'm going to get current now. I love the story from Gary where he talks to a detective concerning a fraudulent bill in the mail and it turns out the detective was psyched since he's a big fan of Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island. He then backed Thimbleweed via Paypal. I love this story. -
It seems like they would want to keep you within the same district instead of a different quadrant. It's good that eventually the system will stabilize you though. I'm just kind of shocked how often you seem to be given the raw end of the deal for a while in your quest to simply just teach.
