Man that sucks. Emergency pet hospitals charge and arm and a leg so hopefully you can get it to a regular vet soon.

I appreciate this so much. I sent it to a few of my friends. And The Quiet looks so fucking stupid standing to Big Boss dressed like that.

I didn't realize they still did versions every year. Looking it up, it does seem like it is THE program to use when making signs. The other thing is Adobe never really updates Illustrator much either. I am proficient with that program because a game company I used to work at loved using vector art, but even with CC it seems like the same as always. I notice lots of artists I know just use Photoshop for vector work and honestly, doing anything like that in Photoshop is kind of crap. I kind of hate that Adobe says they make updates every year for Illustrator and charges for it, but I can't usually see anything new. Not all of the programs are even 64 bit! For Illustrator and Flash they are definitely charging for glorified patches.

Yeah Corel Draw is super old news, like software that was big for 90s Mac users. If I recall the reasoning I heard for people still clinging to it is just the fonts it has and the clip art? Maybe I'm wrong, I've opened it like twice because I had to. I thought Corel Painter was the big one for the longest time with concept artists and digital painters but it lost favor because I heard it turned into a buggy thing with infrequent updates and limited compatability. Considering people put up with shitty bugs every Adobe iteration, it makes me think Painter must have been pretty fucked. I messed with it a few times but by the time I wanted to get serious about it, I realized no one was using it. Also I think Photoshop CS4 or 5 added mixer brushes which does what Corel Painter does, although in many ways less user friendly. But seriously, Corel Draw is so old. Although why not just tell people to use Corel Draw and give them a little time to get used to it? I can't imagine it would be hard for anyone who is not already adept at creating vector graphics and layouts.

Oh god, finding out "boat drinks" was a real song was icing on the cake. That must have been the best part so far, I was just laughing terribly out loud. Haven't heard the newest episode IT HAD BETTER BE GOOD GORMONGOUS

Thanks guys! Haha, yes Mike, I really felt she needed to appear fiendish.

Seems like around most sane people coming out would not ruin a friendship. If it did, then fuck 'em, who needs a bigoted jerk in their life?

Oh I should probably note I was trolling. I missed out on the Hyper Light Drifter Kickstarter, was bummed about that, it looks good. I suppose I will get to play it later but I missed out on the goodies.

Here's a commercial I did for Game Worlds, a summer camp for kids in Austin where they learn how to make a game prototype in a week: (Also thank you for activating Vimeo embeds, Doug!) Took me way longer than I would like but my client (owner of Game Worlds, also a good friend and my former art director at a [revious game company) gave me a lot of leeway to finish other higher paying projects first plus I had a bunch of part time work and school. I didn't mean for it to go so long on the backburner. Also everything took way longer than I thought, since I kept having these boughts of dissatisfaction and needs for perfection. The original art I was going to do was way simpler and I guess I forgot and just started drawing things more complicated than I would have liked (it's still simple though). Also maybe I could have done some more to it in After Effects, but I still don't know all the ins and outs. She was cool with the time it took though. I was shoot for beginning of April but oh well. By that time she had actually had full enrollment for summer, it got kind of popular since last year. So maybe this commercial is kind of superfluous at this point? She says it'll be good for every year ongoing though. I'm super proud of it!

The hard truth is that the best 2D art and animation is far better than the best 3D art and animation.

Is there a way no one can ever give Mark Kern attention again? Seriously, that fucking tour bus shit. He should really be working at McDonald's after that kind of failure. It would appear to me he is probably one of the most harmful types to ever be working in games so he should eat that puke he spews and go home.

This project is my worst nightmare, but I wish you luck Ben.

Yeah how the hell was that collage racist? That whole article had some pretty weak dirt digging in my opinion.

I miss Pip on Not a Game podcast. God that podcast started rough, got good, then went to absolute shit.

What if American theatrical animation didn't suck?

The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?
syntheticgerbil replied to Reyturner's topic in Video Gaming
Oh okay, yeah you should definitely build your own Metal Gear and capture Zardonav 6 times, since that will get you the "true" ending" but after that not much happens.- 198 replies

I think I have like 30 god damn tank missions to S Rank still, plus S ranking the robot battles and Monster Hunter missions. I'm really sick of stalking vehicles. I have no idea why they felt it was a good idea to have you do a tedious thing 30 times over. I've already beaten all Outer Ops long ago, so really there's no gameplay reason to S-rank them all outside of unlocking all of the other weapons and missions. At least with the helicopter ones my friend and I can do that rail gun charge and capture them within minutes and S Rank. Would have been nice if they had traded a lot of the tank/APC missions with more goofy hold ups, ghost photography, or Pooyan target practice.- 198 replies

I hope he gets the plugs, which if you have access to any retro game store, should be easy enough in the same day. Looks like it would just take standard RCA cables or the SNES/64 cord for audio and video and then I would guess a regular SNES adaptor would work, but it might not fit. I wonder if anything on that cart plays, so hopefully he just doesn't disappear. But that he has no A/C adaptor or A/V output before posting kind of makes me feel more skeptical. Also I had never known that this version of the SNES CD was an actual thing. I had always known it to be this double decker looking thing similar to the Satellaview add on or how the 64 DD looked.

Seems fake? I don't buy that just Olaf, co founder of Sony Interactive, would just have a major console prototype in a box obviously labeled "junk" for some other dude's dad to throw out. They could have at least gotten a better story than that. The main thing that makes me think is not fake is the yellowing, but then that could be a nice attention to detail on a custom case. Here's the video of the poster though:

Maybe he should rent us all a humongous tour bus of play-doh on gamergate monies.

That's who gets targeted the most though, since everyone knows not to do the same with Mickey Mouse.

Best part of my day, someone sends Steve Purcell a link to a Mad Max/Sam and Max T-Shirt crossover at TeeFury and he calls them, "shameless little dickweeds." How a site like Teefury stays in business makes no sense to me. Why do they even accept fan art pieces of copyrighted characters in the first place when they clearly know they don't own the rights. I'm sure in this entitled fan culture we live in, someone most likely feels Steve Purcell should be thankful for the "free advertising."

Almost all Let's Play types annoy me, especially if it is talking over a narrative game. The only ones I like are if they are giving tips on how to beat stuff or be a better player, like this weirdly relaxing one on getting a Big Boss emblem on MGS4 Extreme: That said, I often watch Vinesauce Vinny because I guess partly because his New Yorker accent amuses me and partly because his edited videos cut out all of the boredom of his long streams. Also he picks weird shit that no one wants to play, which is way more entertaining than watching someone play a good game.

Yeah I don't know if Monkey Island 2 is especially good for a six year old. It also has some swearing. Maybe jn a few years? LeChuck's description of the screaming bone chair still creeps me out as an adult. I remember getting Sam and Max Hit the Road when I was in third grade, so maybe 9 years old, and I remember I had to play it early Saturday mornings because of Max's potty mouth so that my parents wouldn't find out. i was thrillled.
