Oh, well if it's outside stuff that's being referred to then that makes more sense, I just didn't see any suggestion of that in Argo, Jake or sclpl's posts.

So far the opinions on Cara's voice have been: I found Cara's voice to be grating and harsh I thought Cara sounded awesome originally Cara's accent bugged me on Not a Game Podcast but now I welcome it yeah, Scottish accents are great Cara's voice irritated me until I realised there was a Scottish accent there then I really enjoyed it It's sort of mutated. Not annoying at all though to me. I loved it! I thought it was different, but different is good! Cara is the best and her voice is awesome I'm not sure how this is getting interpreted as people being bothered by a woman's voice or people showing a lack of humility and needlessly knocking people down.

Cara's voice irritated me until I realised there was a Scottish accent there, which took me a short while because it's a lot softer than I'm used to, then I really enjoyed it.

They probably won't all be similar to Idle Thumbs, but just in case you missed this thread there are loads of recommendations in there.

Even at the meeting where Tim declared they were going with Broken Age, there was a suggestion that it wasn't necessarily permanent and that there was a hope that something better would strike them before release!

As far as I can tell, they were saying 7 or 8 seasons up until the day I posted that, when they seem to have given an interview narrowing it down to 7. Seven books maps to seven seasons anyway: perhaps the next 2 books will be meandering too and they'll be trying to hold back and invent a load of new story for that reason. We can't say for sure. I think I made a typo there about assuming that book 6 will arrive before season 5, though. Either that or I was being wildly optimistic!

Yeah, I think for a children's cartoon to be credited with actively portraying an asexual relationship, it really needs to point to the potential for sex in that relationship and the lack of interest in it from the participants.

It seems like "asexual" and "non-gendered" are getting conflated at points here. Correct me/apologies if I'm wrong/grossly simplifying, but "asexual" means not being sexually interested in any group; non-gendered is not identifying as any gender. You can identify as a particular gender and be asexual; you can be non-gendered (or intersex or hermaphrodite - the acceptable terms get confusing when we're specifically talking about shape-shifting alien rock creatures) but have a sexual preference.

Recently I was playing Portal 2 co-op with Thunderpeel, and after we'd solved enough puzzles, we had a ten minute voice-chat while just standing there in a level jumping around. It struck me that this is actually a really cool alternative to Skyping or IMing, as it gives you something to do or look at and gives more of a tactile feel to the interaction. Are there any good games/apps either designed for that or that would work well as that? Something that's free, that doesn't have game elements that would distract from conversation, but has interesting settings or character move-sets as a conversation backdrop?

Oh yeah, also thank you for giving me a few seconds from the first mention of Mulholland Drive to any discussion about the movie - it gave me a chance to skip forward half a minute and miss any minor spoilers. That movie has been on my to-watch list forever!

I get on well with my parents, but I don't know about "close". I only see or speak to them once or twice a year, mainly out of laziness. I feel like we know and understand each other pretty well, but certainly not as well as my closer friends or girlfriend. They're a different generation, plus we had a parent-child dynamic for the first two decades (at least!) of knowing each other; I think getting on and mutual support is all that can be expected, really (as opposed to, I dunno, a regular adult friendship or deep knowledge of each other's soul).
