When I saw the title of this episode and the games discussed, I assumed Owen Wilson would be getting a mention because of his role in the Wes Anderson film "Bottle Rocket". But he came up completely separately, which was very pleasing! Re. rotating hosts, I enjoy it. We always have some of the regulars to anchor it, and it's not like it's very episode forever now, written in stone. It's cool to have Spaff on again (I forgot he's living in the US so it momentarily confused me to hear him on two 'casts in quick succession) but I hope he stops being so English and speaks up a bit more often next time! Re. lore/alt-game metaphors - it seems to me that the Rule Of Thumb is, as with so many things, "it's great when it's done well, but the majority of the time it's done badly."

Mangela, as long as you aren't fearful of rejection, then you've got nothing to lose! Options: "Hey, do you want to go out on a date sometime? If you just want to stay friends, that's also great!" "Hey, do you want to go [bowling? pub-crawling? roller disco? Activity that can be read as friends only, but lends itself to getting tipsy and seeing if you both click]?" YOLO, go for it.

It doesn't get any faster! I got about 6 episodes in and had to stop because I was so bored. The fight scenes are pretty good, but apart from that there was nothing to hold my interest. -
So you think the first two seasons consist wholly of bad episodes?

True. I would hope that a few users doing it well would set a trend, but there'd always be a few people mucking it up. I guess you could mod ultra-hard - one avatar only unless your set of avatars makes sense.

Louis Theroux recently did an episode on transgender kids. My girlfriend is watching it now, and it seems pretty sympathetic and relatively insightful for a mainstream show.

That's a terrifyingly airbrushed pic of A&J. Don't know if this was on that clip, but a classic is "went off like a damp squid", rather than squib. Taking "damp" to imply that the squid is recently out of water, it presumably would be about as impressive as a damp squib.
