You can probably find a console command cheat to skip the level...

Yeah, I was going to say it feels like it's in there purely because they know actual important Earth stuff is coming up in the future.

I watched a couple of (to one degree or another) Netflix shows recently: The Expanse, which I really enjoyed. It looks great, has a bunch of character actors doing good work, and the world-building is really detailed and interesting. Only ten episodes, too, which was a good choice. It doesn't spoon-feed you exposition, either, which is great. Unfortunately, it instead ends you off to exposition fat camp and wires your jaw shut. That is to say, it's very hard to follow what's going on, harder than The Wire for instance. After about five of the episodes and some Wikipedia episode summary readings, I had a feel for how all the different factions and plot threads intersected. Only the Earth plotline lets it down - it could easily be lifted out wholesale without affecting the rest of the show, and it revolves around a miscast Shohreh Aghdashloo, who fluffs pretty much every single line reading. And Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, which I only watched an episode and a bit of. It's directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (who originally was going to direct the Jim Carrey movie but dropped out over budget concerns) and is like Coen Brothers for kids, but unfortunately only for kids. Looks nice, has Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack and Neil Patrick Harris in it, but is just too pantomimey for me to enjoy. (As I remember it, the film wasn't that good either.)

I would guess the reason was that one bit of code that tells mouths to match wave shapes is more efficient than having a ton of individual files to be stored, pulled and used. But I only code in Cwine and Icicle so... How are the asses in Jedi Academy, @Simon?

This will probably get repeated in my FPS thread, but here is what I posted about some 2007 games on the Size Five forums. Portal, when I played it in 2011: Tomb Raider Anniversary: Telltale's first season of Sam And Max was released. I wasn't a big fan of this, to be honest - I didn't really enjoy the Telltale SnMs until season 3. And Crysis (I'll spoiler this to avoid cluttering the thread, as there's quite a lot here. TLDR: a game with lots of cool stuff about it, but too much fluff and a crap ending) :

I'm pretty bored of this now. Just endless running round mazes and pushing buttons. The Force combat is still fun, though saber duels feel mostly like luck to me - the best sword mechanics I've ever played are the original Prince Of Persia, and I'd love to play a 3D equivalent of those. I might push through to the end, I'm not sure - judging from walkthroughs, I'm nearly there. In the meantime, here are some links: A retrospective article which captures the highs and lows well An objective review Jake asks for feedback on the game for an upcoming Thumbs review of it (which I can't find) A (rather homoerotic) Thumbs thread about the game:

That's great, well done Spenny! It looks great, like you've expanded out the original jam game really nicely. One little pessimistic note, though: I suspect you may find your trailer comment sections overwhelmed by people hating on you for 'stealing' from Rick And Morty, due to the voiceover...

I think you managed to soft reboot this thread, Mington. -
Alien: Covenant (and all other Alien-related stuff)

Predictably, I like Hicks! There's not much to him, but Biehn (who replaced James Remar in the role two weeks into the shoot) gives him a sweetness as well as capability (similar to Reese from Terminator but not so tortured). -
I don't have different stances yet, and I'll probably end up sticking to normal the whole time even when I get the others! Good to at least be aware of a few basics like the back slash, running up walls etc. I'm on the first big saber battle now - the lizard dude's lady sidekick. It's quite tough, but I think if I make good use of the tunnels I'll manage it.

Ha ha, just noticed this, @Mington you git! -
Alright, now this game is fun! With speed and heal, I have the freedom to try out all my other powers like choke and lightning without getting punished for it. There are still some teeth-grinding moments, like the droid escort section, but overall it's lovely to run into an arena of enemies, scope the room out and work out tactics on the fly as I bounce around. And the snipers are ameliorated too, as I can retreat, Force heal, then head back in and snipe them back. Also, Bespin's got some really nice huge vertical spaces that really evoke that setting (plus the Death Star and other vertical spaces as discussed in the Rogue One thread) from the movies, and the maps aren't half as confusing and fiddly, even though there's still the occasional corridor-labyrinth. The saber duels are cool, too, though I feel like I'm not quite understanding the tactics of them. I just tend to keep swinging until I get a good hit in. I'll probably check the manual again and then google for tips before I do any more. (EDIT: the first guide I found - holy cow it's deep!)

By "vocal track" I take it you mean "song"? We have a thread about licensed songs in games and a thread about original songs in games (and also a litany of other music threads which probably have some suggestions too).

Oh yeah, this is pretty terrible.

So that's now brkl, miffy, jutranjo and Gwardinen in the Liero fan club! Well, I may as well also recommend Gun Monkeys, the 2D deathmatch platformer that my mate Dan made. You get two copies when you buy it, but a warning: due to a bug with Unity's server handling that has recently appeared, this game is currently (and possibly permanently) local 1v1 only. It's very good fun, though! http://store.steampowered.com/app/239450

Good luck! I'm very much looking forward to playing the final product! -
Hooray, I made it to Bespin and I now have... Force Heal! Woo hoo! I think I'm going to have to rebind some keys now as I have too many powers that I'll want on a regular basis. I still haven't tried mind trick yet, but level 1 doesn't sound too useful. I'm still really enjoying this game, there are so many great Star Warsy touches and references, and when you're flipping between your powers, saber and the sniper rifle and taking enemies down no sweat, it's great. But honestly, anyone befuddled by my frustrations needs to go back and play the bit where you get locked in a room with six ever-moving ever-firing laser turrets, and all you can do is strafe and shoot at them for ages until you manage to get them all, then the instant you fire your kill-shot on the final turret, a door opens up and you get hit with laser fire by a ton more enemies. For not the first time in my life, I've wished more games had fan-edit mods where they simply remove or fix the shit sections.

Alien: Covenant (and all other Alien-related stuff)
Ben X replied to baekgom84's topic in Movies & Television
Re. Hicks' and Newt's deaths, yeah, it feels purely like a sequel sweeping old characters under the rug and it does fuck with the whole previous movie. I understand why they did it, but I'd rather they'd allowed the characters to be auto-jettisoned into space or something so there was a hope they got found and had a chance at a good life. -
Come on and stream and welcome to the jam

TUCK! If it helps, I figured that out -
A fair few videos have gone up on the YouTube channel already. I watched the Psychonauts one - I already saw a guy doing it with the DF team watching, but it's cool to see it again here with more explanations and some new exploits.
