Pffft, I can run in straight lines.

Watch the film, then read the Mechner draft, Synth! (And report back here, obv.)

Almost no one finishes games, but what about episodes?

Anyone here seen the film Gerry? -
I always thought it was bad-on-purpose, in a similar vein to Duke but parodying more the 90s straight-to-DVD wrestler-starring action pics with a lump of meat as the lead, fighting a load of dumb, angry henchmen. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit. Loved the opening CG movie though, and the mercenary random dialogue line "I am gonna shoot you in the FACE!"
-
I dunno, after looking at his Facebook page and stuff, he does just seem like a hateful prick. Anyway, synth, the most important thing is that after playing all the games you watch the film!

Ooh, harsh! Well, I loved Lost but I thought Super 8 was just okay. It was a bit shallow, and yeah, the performances aren't all great (I think the girl and lead kid were ok, right? The braceface was quite good in a cartoony way). Certainly better than Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle, though...

You make a fair point re. Phatt, but the bigfoots are just as interactive as any other character, with their own dialogue options etc, and there are at least two in the foreground. However, I can see that our guy seems a lot more like he should be part of a puzzle. He's really just there to get a few satirical bits and pieces in that otherwise wouldn't have had anywhere to go. It comes down to your feelings about red herrings in adventure games at the end of the day. I think they're fine, as they discourage people trying to brute force their way through, and more (hopefully) funny and interesting characters is better than less, I feel.
-
The best line is " ". People have complained about the non-useful character before. I don't quite understand it - surely part of an AG is the red herrings? Furthermore, Sam And Max had non-useful bigfoots at the party, and no one complains; MI2 had the pointless Governor Fatso food pipes screen... But it would be churlish of me to nitpick your one criticism, and we certainly lost the useless characters in the sequel so perhaps we're with you on the 'rough' feel of them. Hooray for Kroms! Hooray for my game which I hardly ever promote! ...

Worst summary ever.

I'm guessing you're the undercover boss? Pretty obvious ending, dude, lame.

Science-fiction, is it? http://www.orionmagazine.org/index.php/articles/article/152/

My immediate post on the S5 forums after coming back from watching it: (I haven't seen any of the original sequels.)

Book Of Eli was okay and Unstoppable was pretty lame, but the funny thing is I can't remember why or almost anything about either one.

Hi Everyone, I posted a plug for Gibbage a while back, but this is the last one ever, promise. Dan Marshall has now completed his game, 'Gibbage'! It's a cartoon deathmatch platformer that Dan has created from scratch on his own, teaching himself to code along the way. It's so far garnered good feedback from Ron Gilbert and Charles Cecil. The website is up and running. You can download the (new and improved) demo for free, read his blog, find out about the game, and download it for only £6/$11. He's chronicled his progress in PC Zone magazine, and his blog reprints the articles. It's a really good read, and he'll soon be giving more in-depth tales of the basics of self-taught bedroom programming, so check it out. I implore you all to download the free demo, give Dan feedback if you wish, and of course buy the game for the price of a couple of pints if you're suitably impressed. It's a brilliantly fun game, with the emphasis on gameplay, and as an Indie Game, fighting against the chart-clogging corporate tosh we put up with, it needs all the support and attention it can get. Thanks, Ben Ward

Much as I hate Kotaku, I think you've misinterpreted the article. It's saying "hey look, people were game snobs way back then, about stuff that is clearly real gaming, so snobs these days are wrong too. Also, technology was different back then, ha ha!" Less disgusting hipster crap, more pointless dull-minded filler crap.

FAO: Zombie Cow and Idle Thumbs forumites Aliens is showing at the Prince Charles on Mon 28th Feb at 6pm. It's £6.50. Who fancies coming to see it? (It's the first half of a double-bill, but I won't be paying the few quid extra to see Alien3 because, well, you know.)

I tried to change the title of this thread a while back to "Cinema trips - London", but it didn't work... Anyone up for Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade tomorrow 1515?

You can play against a bot, but two-player (on the same PC - no online or LAN) is how it's meant to be played. (Expert tip: use gamepads.) You can play against me! (I will destroy you.)

I've asked the boss: http://www.sizefivegames.com/forum/index.php?topic=1775.msg54662#new miffy and thunder and brkl: you have to post about it so more people decide to try it! You must be like the falling of small stones that starts an avalanche in the mountains.

WAIT! This should make you feel young! If you were looking back on the music you listened to when you were a teenager and wishing music nowadays were that good, that should make you feel old.

I think those things *are* problematic and they certainly are discriminatory by definition, if not "sexist" or "racist" - that's the point, it's a sliding scale of discrimination: where do we want to draw the line? No Straights clubs, No Blacks clubs, No Non-Blacks awards, No Men insurance, Sir Alan Sugar not employing women because they may get pregnant, racial/religous profiling? One must either say none of it is okay, or decide where one's line is and accept that others will draw theirs at a different point, including the government and many many internet commenters.
