Idle Thumbs 121: (I Know You're Having Fun But) I'm Still Working

Or Caesar, the "salad dressing dude". -
Recommend me some good two-player co-ops! (Please!)

Cool, thanks. I've got Trine 1 and Guardian Of Light ready to go. Guacamelee might be a good fit too. Dan recommended playing Limbo as a co-op by taking turns! -

I'm guessing some of the already mentioned games fit this, but what about co-op games for me and my noob (had a SNES, played Mario and Zelda, not really gamed since then) girlfriend on a single PC with two XBox controllers (and kb/m)? I hear the Lego Movie Tie-In games and Rayman Origins are good for that kind of thing... -

All women stalk video games (except the fakers).

I do love Excellent Adventure (and speaking of BTTF, it has a similar opening - their musical equipment blows up on them in a garage, then they realise they're late for school), but I love Bogus Journey even more. -
Yeah, agreed, Hellboy II is far superior. Just so much more interesting and inventive. Riddick, Pain & Gain and About Time are all not good.

Not that gutsy! Besides, I couched it in high praise in hopes of not coming across as a typical YouTube arsehole. I don't think there's much for him to respond to, really. I think I heard somewhere that the Rapp Scallion animation took up as much memory as the entirety of the first Monkey Island. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

Oof, that's stretching it a bit, seeing as it was a phone box and only technically a vehicle because it carried them through time. How about The Blues Brothers, Pee Wee's Big Adventure and Batman? -
Yep, this is all correct. It was only the CD-version and it looked horrible, especially compared to the other close-ups in the game. I guess it's because it's a different kind of animation - rather than drawing a single picture then just animating the mouth or whatever, the Raiders one is fully animated and therefore doesn't achieve the same quality of colouring, shading etc. Hey, look! If you go to Anson Jew's own posting of his video, you get my comment from years ago saying the exact same thing!

You're saying you're a black woman, right?

Totally agreed. It's only because the first half is so weak and cartoony that I prefer BTTF3 - it's a much more solid film. I don't appreciate the ending of 2 as much as you guys so much either - it feels a little tacked on just as set-up for the next movie. But the back half is brilliantly inventive and tightly done - the only other thing I've seen do the same thing is that Trials And Tribble-ations episode of Star Trek where the DS9 crew go back and interact with the TOS Tribble episode. -
Woooo! Strange choice of jacket for Dan - smoking rather than Indy?

Re. celebs playing unflattering versions of themselves, I was re-watching Filthy, Rich And Catflap recently and realised that series did this too. Midge Ure plays a publicity-hungry version of himself who has sex parties round Bono's house, and the Nolan Sisters are money-grasping, cynical blackmailers. I wonder how early an example of this can be found. In Billy Wilder's Kiss Me, Stupid, Dean Martin plays the boozy lech who is obviously an exaggerated version of his public persona, but that doesn't count...

Disabling html5 in Firefox got it working for me (http://www.trishtech.com/internet/disable_html5_media_in_firefox.php). Apparently they changed from Flash to html5 for this one which seems to have caused problems for some. EDIT: thanks for the advice anyway!

No, no adblock etc. I could try clearing my cookies/cache, but I hate doing that - I've always forgotten a few passwords and have been relying on them being remembered by the browser. Besides, all the others are playing fine.

New episode up, but not working for me and others (though some have got it working by trying All Browsers, IE, FF and Chrome bear no fruit for me). Anyone here watched it/found a way to fix the problem outside of trying one of those three browsers?

It looks like the hoops of the 'g's are getting cut off at the bottom (you can just see the tip of their tail rising back up), so perhaps it's something to do with the line spacing (or the webpage version of that, I dunno).

I assume you're saying it would be absurd to boycott Child's Play, not of Hermie to ask an open question? I disagree that it's an absurd or silly idea, I think it's another valid way of protesting against the PA guys' actions that will illustrate that those actions are not only no longer acceptable but also actively harmful to large organisations or corporations associated with them. Sure it sucks that you're having to withhold money from a charity rather than a sponsor, but you can give that money to a different charity, and perhaps the PA guys would take a little more notice if there was a noticeable dent in the charity donations because the stuff they're doing and saying is so repulsive to a lot of charitable people.

It might be mentioned in that link, but Zemeckis has said that the decision to do it that way compromised the editing of BTTF 2 (and I'm with him, I prefer 3 overall). -
Okay, this HAS to be a joke thread.

I've had an ongoing fear of that since watching Melancholia, but I normally manage to repress it pretty quickly whenever it bubbles up. I had a great dream last night, I was talking to the daughter of Nancy Allen, who in this dream is the spitting image of her mother in the late 70s/early 80s with a few other people (hangers on? her friends?) and this one guy is talking a load of shit about the dates of Nancy's films - putting Carrie in the 90s etc. Though I don't know the dates off by heart, I manage to use film trivia to place them (Robocop notably cropping her famous long blonde hair, De Palma and Lucas using the same auditions for New Hope and Carrie), and as I'm getting animated and telling her all this stuff about her mother's movie career, she smiles and gives me a peck on the lips. Such a wonderful fake memory, almost as good as the dream where I was going out with Natalie Portman and we spent the weekend at her family home cuddled up on the sofa watching the Star Wars OT.
