Wow, these are all really interesting and gripping, again! I wonder if any other studios are going to try to do a similar thing at some point. I hope Derek doesn't crash and burn! It seems like he's got an idea for an adventure game but hadn't nailed any of the structure or puzzles down in his head before starting, which is fair enough due to the nature of AF but normally not how you'd make an adventure and has caused a massive bottleneck. I think the best thing for him to do would be to nail down "this is the way puzzles will work" then have everyone in the team do nothing else except brainstorm until they've got enough puzzles in a good order to then go and make as stylish a version of it as they can.

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
Ben X replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
Perhaps your list should have just comprised the 20 best episodes of the final two seasons..! I'm going to watch your fave Trek episode ever and a couple of others, but unless there's a huge step up in quality from season 5 to season 6, I think I'm best off manning the escape-pod. -
And now, a Goofy joke: Oh, for Pete's sake, this is getting ridiculous!

I'm giving up on DS9. Perhaps it's because I'm not watching the whole thing, but I'm at season 5 and even the cherry-picked episodes are nothing special. I'm enjoying Voyager (and especially Robert Picardo) enough to keep going with that. So I ended on a high note with the excellent "Trials And Tribble-ations" (it's a shame that Tribbles didn't become more of a tradiition - TOS, TAS and DS9 got them, would have been nice for TNG, Voyager and Enterprise to get them too) and am about to watch First Contact. Then I'll continue through Voyager, and slot in the few episodes of DS9 on the list that Gormongous annotated for special attention (best Klingon ep evar etc), then perhaps watch the best ten eps of Enterprise if I can wangle a list from someone here or failing that online. -
I'm happy to do it in British or (probably not very good) fake-American! EDIT: I could also do it in Goofy's voice.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Is there an option to play Metro with Russian voices but English subtitles? -
Ha ha, no worries! It was actually Jake's post that really slammed it in my face.

Merus: okay, that is pretty convincing (My other general criticisms still stand, though.)

Yeah, I was happy when they used (and more thoroughly utilised) that bit, as it's one of my favourite moments from the books (where he describes it as an attic iirc).
-
Merus: If what you describe is indeed the point of the movie, I found it pretty unclear.

I have my PC HDMI'd to a Panasonic plasma and it's pretty sweet.

YOU WERE ALSO TOLD BY THAT SAME PERSON THAT IT SICKENS THEM TO SEE THAT SMILEY.

Ha ha, I went for 'work' too!

I would have posted "Um, what?"

Yeah, it seems that Europe does really badly on that question as well. I was staggered too, but then I tried to remember how I learnt it, and failed. I guess if you don't get told at a young age that the Earth goes round the sun, you could potentially go through life without ever learning that fact. Maybe it's one of those things that slips through the syllabus cracks when science is getting divided up into chemistry, geography and physics...

Three bikes and a unicycle?

Lego Movie - very disappointed. No story or characters (which fits with later developments but still doesn't make for a good movie), and the humour feels more like a bunch of Youtube videos stitched together than a feature comedy. It has a lot of muddled themes and descends into mawkishness at the end. It reminded me of the equally-mawkish Toy Story 2: that film tells us that a rare toy should not be displayed in a museum; this one (after a lot of confusion) tells us that if you want to enjoy Lego in a less imaginative way, you are doing it wrong. It generally looked nice, though the 3D was barely existent, and the action was messily directed. It did look gorgeous when they were doing big water or explosion effects.

I just saw The Lego Movie. I didn't enjoy it very much, but I disagree with that article on a few points. It is correct that the film doesn't have very many female characters, and the one or two it does have are not developed at all, but then none of the characters in this film is developed - they're either blank-slates, single-jokes or archetypes. The most interesting character, bizarrely, is Batman. And I'd definitely agree with Jake's reading over the article's, although I think it's really just a simple joke - - which doesn't play or depend on gender at all. I think the article's well off on that one, plus it misreports it a little iirc - . It also says that which actually seems quite progressive. I do agree that it's a missed opportunity for female characters, plus I applaud the article for putting a spoiler warning at the top

Well, I'm not usually one to say that feminist issues get talked about too much, but when it starts spoiling movies for me, it's gone TOO FAR.

Dammit you guys, I haven't seen the Lego Movie yet! Don't spoil the closing gag (plus the fact that - is this reveal part of the gag?)! EDIT: yeah, this was a big spoiler.

Doesn't AGS do higher resolutions now? I get confused since it started going open source. Worth checking the forums anyway. And I agree with you Blamno, it definitely isn't the best idea to design backgrounds before story and puzzles!

You're overlooking a regular Lucasarts puzzle trope. Vague hint:
