  1. Game Jams

Thanks dude. It's an ongoing thing but it's flared up this week in terms of time and energy required.
  2. Re. spending money on AAA games: perhaps you could put a note on the site (plus put it at the bottom of the failed search results page) saying that you will only review games that you haven't spent money on as that will ensure objectivity. Therefore, if someone wants to see a review of a game and you haven't been provided with a review copy. they can either hassle the [publisher?] on Twitter or buy you a copy. Re. the video: I like it, and don't think editing is a good idea - it goes against objectivity. If anything, I think you should record your first playthrough (or at least what seems to be), including splash screens and settings menus, and present that unedited.
  3. Licenses That Demand A Game

Isn't the Voight-Kampff based on analysis of pupil-dilation and heart-rate and stuff?
  4. Goofy Request

Not necessarily! It just means adequate, acceptable. I'm just goofing around, though - I wasn't expecting glowing accolades for my 20-second portrayal of "newsreader"!
  5. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

I'm not sure if they were always public, but I've started catching up on the AF 2012 documentary vids, and they're also great. It's fun seeing a mix of familiar and unfamiliar faces from two years ago. The Double Fine men seem to be getting slimmer and less hairy.
  6. Game Jams

Maybe this all should be split off into an audio/music resources thread? My girlfriend and I are trying to take part in this jam, but we're also using it to teach ourselves the basics of Unity (and maybe some other stuff like Blender - eek!) from scratch, so we may not end up with much... In my head it's Prey 2, but we might manage Thomas Was Alone 3D... EDIT: ok, some major family issues have come up, so we're now very unlikely to get anything done this week. You know that shit Love Actually film? Well, we're Laura Linney and this game is the sexy guy from LOST who wears little black pants.
  7. Gifts - Stuff for Free

Pfft, View New Content is a baby feature for babies.
  8. Goofy Request

Hmmm, I suppose that makes more sense. That live action After Today video I posted also has some making-of commentary vids to go along with it, and the amount of effort and ingenuity that went into it is amazing. For anyone needing closure on the original topic, I did indeed record some dialogue for Merus, who complimented me on my "fine" acting, describing it as "fine for my needs".

  10. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

I hope reddit or 4chan or someone get sicced on those burglars.
  11. Baby Animal Gif Emergency Rations

That last one looks like something out of Flight Of The Navigator.
  12. Game Jams

Agreed. It doesn't even have to be about height any more, I reckon, just inspired by that image.
  13. Game Jams

I future-proofed the thread by giving it a general title!
  14. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

Just in case it helps anyone else, Day 6 was posted at around 1030 GMT, so presumably they'll all be posted around that time.
  15. Escapist and Genre Fiction is not a bad thing.

It was 5 days, 5 hours and 40 minutes.
  16. (IGN.com)

That Citizen Kane quote got discussed (and upheld as it is referring to a particular visual motif) on a Thumbs podcast a few months (?) ago.
  17. Recently completed video games

I think we've found the source of those low game completion stats
  18. Game Jams

OH. If I'd known we were voting on the image I might have gone for something else!
  19. I Had A Random Thought...

    The who now?
  20. Escapist and Genre Fiction is not a bad thing.

    Funnily enough...
  21. Sharing Games with Non Gamers

Limbo works well as a "hand over on death, figure out puzzles together" experience for a non-gamer - very few buttons and mechanics, all of which are slowly introduced, and it's aesthetically and narratively pared right down.
  22. I remember reading about one. Was it Bullfrog or Sensible Software or similar..?
  23. Non-video games

    BWAAAAAAAAAMP
  24. Oculus rift

But you're their Chief Technology Officer, surely you've already seen this?
  25. Game Jams

This starts in just under 24 hours! My girlfriend and I may use it as a way to learn some Unity basics - the fact that it's 10 days and can be done at home (bit less rigid than the Global jam) should make it more likely that we don't bail this time!
