  1. Screenshots. Shots of your screen.

Does vanilla have lens flare, or is that a mod addition?
  2. General Video Game Deals Thread

Goddammit, I could have done with that voucher code yesterday when I bought Wolfenstein 3D for 74p. hotukdeals.com and Green Man Gaming's email sender both failed me when I needed them most.
  3. The Fanart Collective

I really like Manny's face because it looks like the Peter Chan concept art!
  4. Plug your shit

The small IF that I wrote for the Thumbs GDC Journal and then got Thunderpeel to put online (as erroneously posted in the Life thread) is now an expanded Twine game! http://timegentleman.itch.io/the-often-ending-story Please play, replay and share!
  5. Idle Thumbs Criterion Film Club?

You're probably terrified by frothing madmen, right?
  6. The Fanart Collective

I don't like the DOTT one so much, but the other two are fantastic.
  7. And if you have trouble making friends with Duncan, try becoming Facebook friends with his parents first!
  8. Idle Thumbs Criterion Film Club?

Suddenly making silly jokes, Roderick? Trying to cover up the fact that you were TERRIFIED by that House On Haunted Hill clip?
  9. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

I think he says at some point that he hates the smell of pirates, so when you make his platypus smell like one, oooh he gets angry! Actually, this reminds me of the skunk puzzle in DOTT, which was massively unfair as it relied on a throwaway, unrepeatable line of dialogue from the Dr Fred descendant.
  10. Idle Thumbs Criterion Film Club?

Not really. It's pretty freaky, but it's pretty laughable as a horror. I guess you might get unnerved by the weirdness if you're super-delicate, but I'm surprised anyone described it as frightening. As Tegan said, it's pretty camp. I saw it at a pub screening organised by Jon "Log" Blyth, on a double-bill with Punisher: Warzone.
  11. http://www.sizefivegames.com/2013/05/07/announcing-gun_monkeys A wazzo remake of cartoon deathmatch platformer "Gibbage", with better name and everything else. (I didn't do any design on this, just playtesting/feedback/QA. I did design on the original, but Gun Monkeys has moved away from most of that.) Keep an eye on twitter.com/danthat if you want in on the beta!
  12. 'GUN_MONKEYS' from Size Five Games

Bundle Stars are currently giving a million Steam keys of this away: http://t.co/6wpnv0YA25 (that still means two copies per key, refresh the page til it works)
  13. Movie/TV recommendations

Is it worth catching up on season 1, then? I've barely heard of this show....
  14. Movie/TV recommendations

    Of course you can!
  15. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

I was with you until this. It seems like a really bad fit, I can't fathom how it would work.
  16. Idle Thumbs Criterion Film Club?

Sitting quietly in the corner watching al the cool kids dance.
  17. I hope all those people also earned your resentment and being unimpressed. OOoh, I hate it when people who profess to be film fans trample all over others' enjoyment of films.
  18. The Fanart Collective

It was really irritating when the VHS and DVD releases of JC's The Thing didn't use Drew Struzan's amazing poster art, replacing it with crappy screen-grabs or even the bland video game cover art. Thankfully the blu-ray art seems to have reinstated it. Edgar Wright took inspiration from Struzan's image for The World's End, even though it doesn't actually appear in Carpenter's movie itself.
  19. Feminism

Ah, interesting. I have difficulty framing it that way, but thanks for the explanation (I was going to jokingly say mansplanation there but didn't want to insinceritise my thanks).
  20. Maybe the next FEAR game should have you be unwillingly telepathic so you always hear the enemies' thought processes.
  21. Feminism

Poor little bugger - it didn't even get a chance to become a real word before getting misused to pointlessness! As I said, I assumed this is what you meant. My other example wasn't about the majority, rather the point that whether an act is sexist is not a scientific fact or an emotional state - it's a matter of interpretation. If one of the women on that anti-feminism blog goes to a pub where the barman refuses to pour her a pint because women can't handle their drink, and she tells you that wasn't sexist, would you then believe her?
  22. There is also Idle Banter as well as Gaming Chat.
