I wish people would stop saying "you don't get to [make argument/statement/judgement/express opinion X]." It sounds childish and naive, especially as it's demonstrably false, plus it invokes a censorious tone.

We get Cacique in from Spain for mojitos whenever we can.

I recently posted on a forum, stating my dislike for the way someone had jumped into a thread, posted a rant and told people with different opinions to shut the fuck up, then jumped out again. A few days later, I got about ten DMs on Twitter from said person, quoting me as saying things I didn't and accusing me of tone control. I spent a while writing what I think was a calm and thoughtful response via the forum's PM system, yet after a few days this person, while posting on Twitter and the forums, completely ignores my response and my later request for at least an acknowledgement of it. So basically they contrived to do the same thing to me privately that they had done to that thread! No real reason for posting this story other than to vent my frustration! I'm just glad I'm not getting this times a thousand every day from goobergait simply for being a woman.

Just make a gif of the behind-the-scenes shots of Harrison Ford in Last Crusade petting and nuzzling the (iirc specially bred and trained) rats, and circulate that.

In case any backers missed it, there's a new doc episode and side-quest up. They're currently aiming for a Dec/Jan release of part 2.

I'm keeping an eye out for happy news stories to get it back on track but I haven't seen any! (I figure the announcement of Tremors 5 is too frivolous.)

Obv.

Thanks for that, shammack.

The Ethan Carter guy also says that you are allowed to have opinions on the writing if you have heard of the character Prospero from either Shakespeare or Poe, so I'm guessing the Thumbs are safe on this one...

Re. Cine's post, it was unclear if he'd be back in reading this thread even if he's not posting, but regardless I wanted to say to everyone that I hope that kind of drive-by fuck you go fuck yourself doesn't become commonplace. I like these forums because of the high level of discourse and the feeling that if I say something stupid or wrong-headed I'll get told why, not flamed to death for it. As for my opinion on Hatred, it's been pretty thoroughly covered by the discussion here already!

Twice as many Neimoidians! Also, there will be twenty minutes set on the planet of Chino, only included in the China release.

As Synnah elucidated, it wasn't what he was arguing that made me feel that, it was how he was arguing.

Cool, I'll take a look once I've watched ep 9, thanks.

Yeah, but if my heart stops then I'm revived, I technically died; I'll still feel that I'm the same person. I take your point though - I doubt I'd have the existential nerve to do either! I'd keep it old-school, The Unteleported Man style.

I think it messed up for me at the end. It was pretty cool, though. (Almost as good as The Often-Ending Story.)

Yeah! Better than killing me!

I haven't read through this yet, but it says of the threats against Anita at Utah that "The threat did not contain a reference to [GG]". I thought that she tweeted that one of them did associate with GG..?

I like the AV Club but their tv rewatches/reviews are shit - they just describe at length what happened in the episode then stick a load of quotes from it under the heading "Random Observations", and that's it.

I watched the first six episodes a while ago, and just watched PK Tech Girl. I think I'll stick to Danielle's skip list because while there are lots of interesting ideas being thrown around, it's a bit of a brash, loud mess at the moment. Not very sophisticated or sharp. I did like the conversation between John and Aeryn, although it was ruined a little by the Sad Music blaring over it. EDIT: I don't have anything against goofiness either - not everything has to be BSG - as long as it's well done.

True, but it would still be funny to see the same guy pop up in "Serious Science Documentary Series" and "I Love 80s Detective Shows!"

Is he on YouTube anywhere? It'd be brilliant if there's one clip of him being an expert on nuclear physics, then another of him being an expert on Magnum pi.
-
Good, thank you. I don't think they were arguing in good faith, felt like a time-waster/energy-sapper (I can't remember the usual term) to me.

All we need now is 3D printing to be able to make anything from anything, and possibly teleporters (the type that fling your atoms around, not the ones that clone/kill you).

I just PMed Arthur and he told me that one of his friends worked on the "Han Solo grave" set, which is cool.
