Yuen Wo Ping became known for doing a lot of fight choreography for Western movies around that time iirc (although he was already a successful Eastern director - I think he directed Drunken Master amongst other things). EDIT: I googled and it seems his name is mostly spelt "Woo" now though it also has been written as "Wo" and that's how I remember it from the late 90s...

"The rat symbolises obviousness" is a crap joke. Firstly, in The Departed the shot of a rat doesn't 'symbolise' anything, it's just a visual motif to rhyme with the theme of the film. It's not like a childhood photo burning to symbolise the death of innocence or something, it's just a nice shot to end the film on. Secondly, if you're going to spend an entire episode doing a weak Friedberg and Seltzer level 'parody' of a film, maybe don't try to take a cheap potshot at it right at the end. Fuck you, post-season-9 The Simpsons.

I guess find a way to safely leave all the doors open for as long as possible to air it, plus wash the back of the car as best you can? If it's still strong enough by the 24th to be making you feel light-headed, you're going to have to do that drive with all the windows down!

I was only using that sentence as an example, hence "something like this" and my clipping of the "context clues". It seems like you're taking my question as a criticism of that specific quote, which was not my intent. I see people use "ugh" a lot and legitimately want to know what they mean by it. However, that rather contradicts your later delight. So, although it wasn't the target of my question, I wouldn't call your specific post too complicated, merely contradictory.
