Elmuerte, I would say it's time for you to get out of there. I don't think you'll be able to change the company culture, which is what you don't agree with, with an ultimatum. What exactly would you be demanding? That people are more considerate with you? You could end up with an eggshell situation where everyone just thinks you're being delicate. If the culture of a company doesn't suit you, you're best off leaving altogether. I did, and though I am currently at home doing freelance stuff and being a bum, I don't regret it for a second. [EDIT] I am not a bum. I'm a jerk.

Poor Jared!

Hahaha, I totally forgot as well! Though I was pretty disappointed with the game, I have grown a little milder towards it, as time will do, but it still certainly isn't GOTY material.

Say that, in some hypothetical alternate timeline, I had been writing short reviews of movies (old and new), and I wanted to put those online in a comprehensible "web log" format. Let's say that. Now say that I am not particularly adept at making websites (some here will attest to that), but I'd want something really simple & clean & easy to manage & as free as possible. Would any of you have some advice to help me along? What is good, free blogging software? (If it helps, I already have server space.) What I ideally want is the ability to post my short reviews, with a small picture on top, have it not take up too much room, and be easily searchable. Roger Ebert's site is a good example of a clean structure I admire (http://rogerebert.suntimes.com). A lot of blogs feel unwieldy. The server space I mentioned above proffers the use of WordPress, which seems a good starting point. Is it the best option out there? Thanks in advance, any help appreciated.

For liking the film but also sometimes being a little bored? Also, I thought of another film recommendation for Max Ernst who was looking for movies that tonally dealt with the feeling of depression, loss, phasing out of existence. I remembered that Zatoichi the Last captures that feeling really well. Check it.

GOD DAD, you're always doing this >___<;;;

Goddammit Mington, don't make me pull out Santasm on you again.

Yeah, that one! But there are other scenes too that I thought, on first viewing, could use some trimming. I mean, the movie lasts two hours and five minutes. I wish everything about it was so excellently paced as the first twenty minutes, which as an exposition of Baxter's situation is just so well done. I love his intro monologue too, I missed it as soon as it stopped.

I'm Adam Conolly. This man is an imposter.

Ah, so you're the new liker on my page

To be fair, I believe his surname is Isaiah, Triforce his middle name. It has a nice ring to it, actually. It's not half as bad as Optimus Prime.

Well, it depends on the level of quality of the other entries whether yours was graded with 5/10. Maybe that's quite excellent according to this year's level. Why should you stop making text adventures, btw, now that you work at Telltale? Is that a company policy thing against competition? Or just because you can unleash your creativity on 'the real thing', for lack of a better term?

I watched The Apartment, because it seems a recommended view around these parts. I liked it! Though didn't love it. The dialogue is very snappy and the characters act with gusto. But it also gets a little slow and sloppy in the middle, editing-wise. I couldn't help be a little bored here and there, sorry to say!

It really is an interesting point. Games do seem mostly interesting in the the appearance of historicity, history as the emperor's new clothes. But that raises an interesting question: how would a game incorporate history in a way other than merely visual/contextual trappings? Can you incorporate history in a meaningful way?

After this year's (decade's) Sight & Sound list I had been digging up some classics too, including Tokyo Story. Haven't seen that one yet, but I did recently watch The Rules of the Game from 1939. It's so interesting to see films from a completely different time (interbellum).

You will watch it until you love it.

Sorry, Nach! Fun fact: I pronounce Santasm in the way of phantasm, not Santa-SM I love that this is the first time Mington will see this and he has no idea. Just, no idea.

I love it when I get a sense of history in games. Not just fake history, as in the Elder Scrolls series, but especially the real thing. For instance, I enjoyed and read the historical notes in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, which certainly illustrated a few points on the Borgia family. I would enjoy the Samurai Warriors series more for its accurate historical context, if it didn't make such an unorganised mess of it. But those are two games that are really enhanced by tapping into a rich, historical context. More games should.

I just had an idea of what's inside the cube. It's a message from Molyneux that says: "If you keep this message and the secret of the cube to yourself for one month, you'll get a million euros." That would both be an amazing incentive to keep it a secret, and continue social experiment side of the game. The winner, who would of course have to be identified as such, would experience an incredible, life-changing month as the entire world would be hanging on his lips to divulge the secret.

GOTY2012, oh fuck, I just wouldn't even know. When my Xbox died at the end of last year I was cut off from pretty much all the major blockbusters. The only big games I played were on the 3DS, and of those only Kingdom Hearts 3D was anything remotely special. On the other hand I had a great time on Steam with the indies. I would say both FTL and Thirty Flights of Loving would qualify. On the 3DS eShop side I had a ton of fun with Pullblox (Pushmo), easily the best thing Nintendo released this year. I'm doing the review of Fallblox, the sequel, this week. Looking forward to that. But I feel pretty inadequately informed to make a decision this year.

Holy shit this topic just became awesome. [ADDED] I made a lighter version of the background. It's a lot clearer now, though I still can't seem to get it right. I tried a blue hue, but that was awful. Golden tip welcome.
