Lots of games/etc. have had editable characters/avatars/etc. The interesting thing about the Mii is the cross-game experience (although I don't know if any games besides sports have it yet...I assume that Wiiplay will). Their site is down right now, so I can't really tell what these bozos are going for, but I am welcome to play a game of Tringo.

As long as I'm questioning your various iTunes/iPod digs, I think that the Creative thing was settled out of court. While I don't think that Apple is a completely "honest" company, those Creative patents were so obvious that they never should have been granted in the first place. The first link I found on it: http://daringfireball.net/2006/08/apple_creative

I don't see anything about a ridiculous point system that doesn't correspond to actual currency.
-
Apple has a points system outside of the US? I can't find anything about it on the iTunes Store wikipedia entry. Do they make you buy points in blocks that don't come close to equalling the value of a song, then try to cheat you and indicate that they think you're stupid by having songs cost 79 points, even though they actually cost 99 cents? If so, that's pretty fucking lame. Also, did everyone here about the "lucky folks who get a surprise, limited edition hot pink version? It doesn't get more awesome than that! http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/28/zune-oddnesses-zune-pretty-in-pink-zune-on-a-mac/

So the Wii comes out in the US on Sunday and while I hate to rub this in to all the thumb suckers in Europe, I was wondering what advice people have for launch and soon-to-be-released games to grab or to avoid. I welcome as much detail as you feel like offering. Discuss.

What the fuck is up with the closing cutscene? I got Bomberman '93 for the VC, and it plays very well. I haven't tried it with five players yet, though...hopefully you can mix and match with GC controllers since I only have four Wiimotes.

I could spend my whole life playing that rhythm game and the smile would never melt from my face. In other news, I haven't played my copy of Zelda at all yet.

Well, I guess no we know why the Wii doesn't have HD capabilities—Nintendo doesn't want to break really expensive TVs. But seriously, they did that on bowling? Boxing or Tennis, I can see it happening, but how did they throw it that hard during bowling? You'd have to have a lot of force on that thing to break the strap, which makes me wonder if the strap really broke, or if they weren't wearing it. (Just wondering... )

My friend encouraged me not to due to this: http://www.wireless.engadget.com/2006/11/20/wii-being-hit-by-fatal-error-110213-could-be-funky-firmware/#comments But I'm going to call Nintendo today to find out if it's really related to the downloads, or if I'd need to get my system replaced no matter what if I encounter the problem.

I luckily got three extra controllers, so I played Wii Sports and Super Monkey Ball with my friends, and it was a hell of a lot of fun. Wii Sports Tennis  Boxing  Bowling  Golf Baseball As for Super Monkey Ball, I haven't played the main game, but as for the mini games... Some of them, including hurdle jump Others The likes of Red Light, Green Light  I also bought Zelda, but haven't had any one-player time yet.

The word under the score is "Great." "8.8 - Great." That doesn't exactly sound like a pan.

Yes, I am a fan of party games, so I'll probably get that, and send you a bill if it turns out to suck. I reckon that game and Wii Sports should be enough to keep the parties going for a while.

No release is set for Wii Play in the US yet for some reason, but I'll most likely have four controllers because I'm a big believer that multi-player games are where it's at (even though my favorite genre is the decidedly single-player adventure genre). I'm particularly looking forward to the minigames they come up with for Mario Party 8. Right now, I'm guessing that I'll be happy with Wii Sports and Zelda until I hear which games are actually worth getting. I've never played the Monkey Ball games—which one is the best?

... more like ... uhh.... Children of Shit-ana? Children of Eric Bana? Children Pissed on my Fauna?

What's this Angry Nintendo nerd show?

Do you still wander around aimlessly and wait till it gets dark for clunky fighting?

Now, How much the movie does the IP they've produced make up? The screenplay? Character designs? At what point do they hand it over to the movie producers? How much creative control does one have if all they do is create IP? I realize that asking this many questions on a forum might look like an attack, but I assure you, I'm just curious.

Sony "protecting" it's customers, Lik-Sang out of business

It should be everyone's new sig. -
I picked one up stateside today, at a Gamestop near my work. Looking forward to playing it...

Yeah, but SMB 3 also had a lot of elements from the original, especially after SMB 2 (aka Doki Doki Panic). I'm playing New Super Mario Bros. right now, and that seems in the same vein as the progression from 3. The thing is, the side-scrolling is a big part of the format. The 3D Sonic games used the same type of boards and enemies as the 2D games, but the levels felt very different because the speed factor didn't really work as well. I agree that the series needs to continue to evolve to stay interesting, and everyone expects games to be 3D nowadays. I just wanted to point out that only devoting levels to paradise vacation spots is a bit different from adding a raccoon suit. Galaxy does, however, have the potential to be much more versatile.

This in the very least can be true. One of the girls who always came to our Mario Parties recently admitted that she didn't want to Mario Party now that she's living with the guy she snagged through Mario Parties. There are some other girls who genuinely like to play with us, though.

Uh, don't I have to take it apart and hold down some metal thing while I flash it? By "other homebrew apps," do you mean that SCUMM VM won't "brick" it? :erm: :erm: :erm: :erm: Sorry.
-
Sorry for the dramatic bump, but I was wondering what specific items you bought to run SCUMMVM. (?) I'm using a DS Lite, so I'd probably just use Passme (or Passme2) rather than trying the complicated flashing process.

Are you sure that you and your gf were talking about the same thing? (No, I don't know of any launch-time bugs, other than some name confusion with the N64.) Has any Virtual Console price range info been announced?
