  1. DS Games

Ah, I found the reference: T'was Twilo who said it: http://forums.idlethumbs.net/showpost.php?p=68808&postcount=23 Of course, I don't know if this applies to the US releases or just the import version. (I'm going to get ...And Justice for All when it comes out in a few weeks.)
  2. Movie/TV recommendations

The US Office originally felt lik a lame retread of the original—they basically just remade old episodes in the first season. But it's really become quite brilliant. My Name is Earl is quite good, but not as consistent as The Office. As for people who don't like Brick and/or Me and You and Everyone We Know -- You have no soul. Recent or coming soon movies (depending on where you are): Pan's Labyrinth and Children of Men. See them asap.
  3. DS Games

Anyone else played Contact more? I read a review that said they really liked it, then hated it, then loved it, so I'm wondering if the people who weren't impressed earlier played it any further. I'm still going through the first "Phoenix Wright" and having a ton of fun (although its grasp on the innocent til proven guilty concept is nonexistent). I'm finishing the fourth case. Someone said here said that the last one isn't translated as well?
  4. Elebits

I got it and I think the big problem is that it begs comparison to Katamari, but isn't good enough for such high standards. It's the same gather-more-power-to-lift-larger-objects setup, but the gameplay is basically FPS, although it seems to work OK. I'll play a little more, and update everyone.
  5. Wii number exchange

OK, so I've been busy with a bunch of year-end list and awards stuff, so I haven't been able to add all the new numbers until now. I should be up to date, so if anyone isn't able to send or receive stuff from me, PM me and I'll double check that I input the number correctly. Also, I really want Phoenix, Manny, Nein and the other Psychonauts characters, if anyone can hook me up. And Tanukitsune, I have a short, fat Mii my friend made named Burt, so I'll send him over once my Wii recognizes the activation. I got Elebits as a late birthday present, so maybe I'll try sending people stuff if I ever have time to play it. (I want to get a bit more into Zelda first.)
  6. Wii number exchange

I think that the rush of new people comes partly from the name of the thread–"Wii number" rather than "friend code." So anyone who searches for a Wii number exchange finds this first. Then again, these guys could be rummaging through every VG forum that they can find. (This isn't a critique of the thread name—"Wii number" makes more sense...)
  7. I want to play Zelda

Multiple people have commented to me that it's like having a bowling alley in your house. Seriously, I've yet to have people over for Wii who didn't want one afterwards. At Thanksgiving, my mom demanded that I set it up so that all her guests could play it before leaving.
  8. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

    Thanks for the tip...
  9. Wii number exchange

I think they have a LAN adapter, but it might not be out yet. I know there's an option for "Wired Connection" in the Internet system. Also, a bit of advice: If you have more than one connection setup and you run an update (ie weather channel), it'll default you back to Connection 1, even if you were on Connection 3 when you ran the update. I thought my Wifi died for a minute.
  10. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

quick question then: Do I have to keep fishing to get off this godforsaken level, or am I completely wasting my time? I really just want to do something other than try to catch a fucking fish, which I can't do. Any advice on the matter would greatly increase the chance that I'll ever touch another Zelda game as long as I live. (This is my first since the NES.)
  11. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

After completing all the obvious tasks in the training thing, I scooped up some bee larva and spent the last hour trying to catch a fish that isn't a small fry and wondering why I'm not playing Rayman.
  12. Wii number exchange

Sounds like Spaff needs to get off his ass and give us his number. I can send over some females, though they're mostly women who have played my system, rather than magnificent absurdist creations.
  13. Wii number exchange

Those director Miis are awesome. Marek, can you let me know which ones you got, so I can request different ones from the guy?
  14. Wii number exchange

Just got back on track after a busy weekend. Adama is very cool, and everyone digs Evsrer Jr. & Sr. I also picked up a Udvarnoky in the Mii parade and found Some guy named Bobalee, but I'm not sure who created it.
  15. Wii number exchange

I'll add you as soon as I get home. Also, I should state that G Money was a collaborative effort between me and several friends, lest you think something so amazing could be created by a single person.
  16. Maybe they'll release 10 systems across Europe so they can say that they released it. It worked in the U.S... right?
  17. Let's Talk About Rayman Again

Yeah, you basically described my experience the first time playing RR. And oh yes, I have four controllers. I think I may have mentioned on another post somewhere that my friend and I were very impressed with the FPS controls on that mini game, but I haven't played Red Steal to compare. It was really obvious and intuitive, so I'm not sure how they screwed it up on an FPS-devoted game. Many of the other Monkey Ball mini games, however, are far from intuitive. None of my friends could figure out what is going on in Red Light, Green Light, for example. I haven't tried darts (along with probably 30 others), so I'll have to give it a shot. Yes.
  18. Wii number exchange

I have the coolest Mii ever. His name's G-Money. Enjoy him, but be gentle!
  19. Wii number exchange

Finally added you two. My number: 2223 1423 2902 8099
  20. Let's Talk About Rayman Again

Yeah, my friends and I played some of the Monkey Ball mini games all of once, but they always want to play the bunny game. I'm sure there are a couple good Monkey Ball mini games, but there's too much crap to sift through to find them. Play Rayman's whack-a-mole variation and compare it to Monkey Ball. No contest. Only complaint: Having to unlock party game stuff and not enough simultaneous multiplayers. MB:BB comes out on top here.
  21. Prev Gen: Megadrive games

I hope your girlfriend forgives you for not picking up Toejam & Earl.
  22. Prev Gen: Megadrive games

I know the game has been mentioned a few times already, but... Toejam & Earl is quite possibly the greatest two-player co-op ever. While the player two controller could operate Tales in Sonic 2, he can actually fly and carry Sonic around in 3. That's nice, since it kind of makes up for Sonic ditching him during all the super-fast sequences. I remember liking Streets of Rage.
  23. Connecting console to TV

Just came across this: http://www.wiichat.com/nintendo-wii-hardware/3866-scart-need-help-europeans.html So it sounds like you can't do 480p, in which case, you'll probably want to go component to get a signal that compliments your new TV.
  24. Connecting console to TV

Does this alleged SCART thingy have progressive output? That could be what makes it less than "component." If it offers 480p or more, you might as well use it. If not, go component. I also just got an HDTV and am going to test a couple connections on my Powerbook (right now I'm using S-video until the cables I ordered arrive). I will report on my success. Y is the luminance, Pb and Pr are the difference between blue and luminance and red and luminance, respectively.
  25. PS4 to wait 'till at least 2010

    Suppose there's never a PS3 PS4.
