Well, I guess it's "idle banter" and it's about TV shows, so it's kind of OK to get derailed. So here we go... My big problem with the show is that it claims to follow science and avoid spin, or bullshit. And when I was first watching, I thought it did just that. It made me reconsider certain things that I held for granted, until I realized that I was taking the show's credibility for granted. Since they lied and/or deliberately mislead on the shows about second-hand smoke (as a smoker has admitted), the environment, genetically modified food and other topics, I have trouble taking them seriously on other subjects that I know little about, even if I've enjoyed some other episodes, especially the one on creationism. I also think that many of the shows are based not on any libertarian agenda, but on the duo's love of Harry Houdini and his crusade against frauds and supernaturally charged superstitions. But Houdini would be ashamed to see his followers sticking to any party agenda whenever it came to political interpretations of science. If they called the show "Penn & Teller's Actual Bullshit from the Libertarian Think Tank of Which Penn is an Honorary Member," then I'd be expecting the slant. (That's an awful title, by the way. "Snakes on a Plane" would be better.) People watching the show without the knowledge of the non-explicit slant might assume that the "experts" are legitimate experts. I also think that the quality of the writing/humor/organization and focus varies wildly from episode to episode and went completely downhill in season three.

Maybe before killing him, you should have tortured the guy into giving you information about where to go. (I have not played this game.)
-
Only a bit, mind you. So when are we supposed to find out its name?
-
Probably, but it wouldn't hurt to have a working script to tell you as much, rather than only play audio.

I watch these shows religiously: Arrested Development Lost (which you do need to start from the beginning) The Daily Show The Colbert Report I sort of like these shows, but feel that their quality isn't what it used to be: The Simpsons Gilmore Girls (quality varies widely, but the dialogue is sometimes entertaining) Shows that I love that have been cancelled Freaks and Geeks Firefly Home Movies Futurama Wonderfalls Undeclared The X Files (minus the last couple seasons) Shows I enjoy, but don't make a great effort to watch: Everybody Hates Chris My Name is Earl The Office I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of stuff, too. As for Penn & Teller's Bullshit, which a few people have mentioned, I kind of discuss how I liked the show but feel it lost any journalistic credibility here: http://forums.idlethumbs.net/showpost.php?p=55484&postcount=6

Does anyone know of another page with the trailer? I've been googling... I can only hear audio and have tried multiple browsers? :frusty:

The best part about these reshoots is the revelation, which I read on imdb news today, during the reshoots they added this line: "I want these motherfucking snakes off the motherfucking plane!" Yes, they added a line based on Internet fan sites demanding it.

Yes, Iron Giant is the best. In answer to your cell-shading question, The Robot was created in 3-D.

Can we change the name of this thread to " Stay Alive? Snakes on a Plane!" please?
-
So, to clarify: To qualify, a designer has to still be alive and working, right? Maybe there should be a different thread devoted to people who are deceased and/or no longer working in gaming or haven't contributed anything new in recent years (Dan/Dani Bunten, for example).

I second Spaff's call for a Miyamoto challenge.

Well, I guess you have your experiences and I have mine.

Rodi, I hope (for your own sake) that your comment is only directed at Bauer and not at the grotesquely tall man in purple.

No one is more badass than Waluigi. Edit: transparent background

In a couple months, I think. As for the colors, I seem to remember reading that the DS Lite was designed to match the revolution. I assumed this meant in color as well as design aesthetic.

Yeah, they wanted to change it to Flight 121, which, when compared to Snakes on a Plane, let's face it, sucks donkey testicles. One title tells you everything you need to know, the other gives you a useless flight number.

It's hard to take Bush seriously when a couple days after Bush says he wants to reduce dependancy on oil, his energy secretary says that he didn't mean it "literally." Therefore, this strikes me as a very political move, brought on by the fact that people have started to take notice that the man is incompetent. Once he really gets something done, I'll applaud him. If Al Gore had been president the last five years, we would already be where Bush says he wants to go.

Dude, unless Molyneux slaps a couple explosion stickers over his body, how can he compete?

Judi Dench is no dame!

Even if, as some first-looks have suggested, "the gameplay is arse," I'm eager to take a look at Odama.

It looks like it has one of those high-gloss-for-show-equals-high-glare-near-any-light-source screens that are found on PSPs and poorly designed laptops.

Interestingly enough, I read a little about this in the forum I linked to on the "Penn & Teller Smoke and Mirrors" Sega CD game. TheRedEye guy who acted as the middle man for this sale is the same guy who got the copy of P&TS&M and set up the torrent for it. From what was said in that forum (I'm to lazy to link to it or the other thread at the moment, it sounded like there wasn't a whole lot in the demo, so I'm not entirely convinced that it's worth $2500. Still, it's Sonic X-Treme.

Yeah, one of my sites used to have a forum, and the most common viral marketing was for Russian brides, so the style is fairly close to accurate. And yes, I snuck in some hidden viral marketing of my own to trick unsuspecting Russian bride lovers like Miffy.

That would be great, I'll pm you. It's fun to return to the now-stabilized minds, but it's a bit of a drag to have to go through the whole game to replay the levels.
