  1. Double Fine kitten & game leak

Nice theory, Yufster. Except for one glaring ommission: Where, pray tell, do the prunes fit in? WHERE?!?
  2. Double Fine kitten & game leak

If "California Pri/Pru" is a book, it's a very thin one. I was unable to find any hint of what it might be on Amazon. My guess is California Pride or Prune, but there aren't any book covers that match this design to verify either theory. Maybe we should ask the California Prune Board if they recognize it. Maybe it's a flattened box of california dried prunes? (don't think so, really)
  3. Japanese Wii-price: 25.000 yen (225 $)

PAL and NTSC are formats, whereas region restrictions are, um, restrictions. PAL and NTSC use different framerates, whereas Japan and the US—both of which use NTSC—are in different regions. The former is a technical compatibility issue, the latter is a sales-and-copyright-protecting limit. As I understand it, it's not that hard to find NTSC-compatable TVs in Europe, so it wouldn't be difficult to buy a region-free Japanese console that MIGHT even be able to play PAL games on a non-NTSC TV. (PAL-compatible devices are hard-to-find in the U.S.) For example, one of my DVD players can play PAL DVDs if they aren't region-restricted, but without a PAL-compatible TV, the image is in black and white. So a console would have to include a converter (in the US and Japan anyway) to assure proper picture.
  4. No Pre-Owned PS3 Games?

If they do this, would it mean lowering the prices of games? That's the only way I see this working out.
  5. No Pre-Owned PS3 Games?

But what if they don't make it through the backlash, or emerge badly bruised? Unless they're really losing money on rentals, why should Nintendo or Microsoft follow suit until they see what happens to Sony? I don't think people are going to go spend $60 on a game because they can't rent it for $5. Companies make money selling copies to rental outlets, you know. Plus, the existing rental services might join in an anti-Sony campaign in the interest of self-preservation.
  6. No Pre-Owned PS3 Games?

That's the only way they could try to get away with it. If you have the option of three consoles, two that allow you to buy used games and one that costs $500,000 in the first place, which would you cross off the list first?
  7. Ubisoft's Montreal studio is apparently developing a Video game for based on the brilliant TV series 'Lost.' It looks to be a wide development release, "for PC, consoles, and portable units sometime in 2007." http://news.gaminghorizon.com/media2/1148325420.4204.html I can see this being a very cool game or a train wreck. They supposedly met with the creators, so hopefully that will help things go well. In an interview a while back, the show was compared to an adventure. If you want the whole interview: http://www.insidepulse.com/articles/44411
  8. Ubi Takes Charge of 'Lost' videogame

I'm a big fan of the flashbacks, but can't quite conceive how they could be game-able, although I'm sure it's possible. They could create multiple choice you can make in your flashback, and that slightly affects your play or motivations on the island.
  9. Ubi Takes Charge of 'Lost' videogame

Yeah, I imagine they'll be doing away with the flashbacks, etc. I do think that it would be nice to play a game with a strong sense of mortality, both regarding people you kill and how you get killed. Maybe they could go "Bad Day on the Midway" on us and we'd just have to wander around and try not to die. (That's not going to happen.) Shifting to some stuff that wouldn't be all that exciting to watch on a show, you could find tasks that are ideal for a game—figuring out how to make a shovel out of wreckage, bamboo and what not (there were two very different working models in the last episode). I think that this kind of stuff would be much more interesting than running around shooting others and what not.
  10. Co-Op story-based games?

I don't think it's that hard with two players. Maybe the difficulty varies based on the number of players (?). I've never played it with two or three players. As for Toejam & Earl: Best co-op game of all time.
  11. Ubi Takes Charge of 'Lost' videogame

I think that it has the potential to work better than the '24' game. You can explore the island, maybe play one of the show's background characters and get to know some new characters. Objectives could build up on a scale from the basic survival aspects to war with the "others." I see the biggest challenge as how they're going to create an arc for the game's story if it hasn't been resolved on the show.
  12. Exchange rate o_O

I live in a state bordering Colorado.
  13. Exchange rate o_O

Yeah, when I was there they had prices in both the country's currency and euros to get people used to it. So right now it's about $1.27 to 1 euro, so that's close to $1.30. (also, I edited my inverse description, in which I said euro to dollars instead of dollars to euros.)
  14. Bruckheimer's gamer movie

So I wasted my whole life tracking down a turtle Koopa Troopa for nothing? Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?
  15. Exchange rate o_O

When I went to Europe last month, it was 1.30 - 1.40 euro US dollars to the US dollar 1 euro. When I went during the Clinton administration, it was $.90 to a euro. Big damn difference. Sucky for us ugly Americans. EDIT: I am not on top of my game.
  16. Bruckheimer's gamer movie

Sorry—my mistake. I haven't seen the movie since I was a kid, but I recently re-played SMB3 and when I remembered the turtle thing, I found the whistle... I'll stop now.
  17. Bruckheimer's gamer movie

I would not describe it as being worth the effort.
  18. can there be a bigger noob?

I would, but my friend stole borrowed one of them (the "fire" color) and left me with his crappy GBA. And what would be the point of only giving you one? (Edit: I don't know how to tag and left out a word anyway.)
  19. Holy Uncanny Valley

I want less games that try to recreate reality and more that have fun, stylized animation that doesn't look creepy. Is that too much to ask?
  20. Am I missing something?

Hmmmm.... *Looks at avatar. Well, I dunno if it's a good idea, but maybe I'll try something...
  21. Bruckheimer's gamer movie

FYI I moved to change the name of the "Stay Alive" thread to "Snakes on a Plane," as that is what the topic derailed to, and a mod or the creator obliged me. SO if you want to read more about the movie, read the first couple posts on that thread. I guess. Whatever. My favorite part of the Wizard, beyond all its general suckiness, is when he magically finds the warp whistle that can only be found if you stand on a specific block while holding a turtle and pressing down. Who wouldn't try that on a game that no one had ever played before?!?
  22. ScummVM DS - Sam and max video

I've been tempted to get a flash cartridge for the same NES-playing purposes, but have always wondered about the quality. Now I have to wonder more.
  23. Bruckheimer's gamer movie

Has this Grrand Ma's Boy one come out yet? Why do all the Video game movie names post-Wizard end in "boy" or its plural?
  24. Bruckheimer's gamer movie

It'll be the best film about gamers since The Wizard!
  25. Whoah!

In Safari, I also have to click the maximize button the window pops up. It's harrowing.
