Holland celebrates 60 years of freedom. In other news: Neo-Nazis win German election

That wasn't flamebait, or at least I didn't think it was, but thanks for your kind reply. -

Were the Jews really only 1% of the population? Their friends and neighbors? Or are you talking post-WWII? This, and some previous posts, is going too far with "educated guesses." If you're not German, it's hardly relevant to argue tooth and nail about what their laws are. If you're not a historian or at least didn't look up some figures through a search engine, don't push impossible statistics. -

Pff, that's nothing. I have friends that sell it. Hell, I have friends who grow it. Sudden thought; I wonder if he bought the drugs from my friends on his way to Oklahoma City?

And he was arrested in Oklahoma City, of all places. It'd be funny if it was my cousin who arrested him.

Man, that's good stuff. Especially if the cops had really thick Irish accents. Did you catch any of this on film? -
The official How Would You Seduce Yufster? thread!
shbazjinkens replied to Intrepid Homoludens's topic in Idle Banter
Man am I glad I came in on this too late. P.S. This isn't fair because Yufster has fantasies about corrupting gay men anyway. But if I WERE to have to seduce Yufster, I'd use the same trick I use on all of the girls who instantly fall for me. It involves a hat and a come hither smile. -
Yes, see, my friend Holly is a stripper and working without music would be very difficult for her. I'm a clerk and quite the opposite.

I'll do it tomorrow.

The secret of why Duke Nukem Forever has been delayed

That whole thread is so -
ATI supposedly doesn't do well with OpenGL. Blender3d (OpenGL powered) once would crash when used with ATI cards until ATI kindly sent 10 free cards to troubleshooting developers and the problem was (presumably) solved. It doesn't do well with Linux either - http://www.petitiononline.com/atipet/petition.html edit - but looks like they updated, so nevermind. - edit nVidia cards are supposedly slower and inferior, but fortunately for me they tend to work more often because of better drivers - or so I hear. I haven't actually tried an ATI card yet.

Thanks AGA, I'll name my firstborn after you. Berian is a sweet name!

Well, now that there are dozens of couples of Gmail invites going around, can someone spare one for Shbaz'?

Nerd fashion through the ages... is very consistant.

It's better than blaring a logo of a t-shirt company just because it's popular for that six-month period (appealing to the world of cool people?) and paying way too much for it, but not quite as good as wearing a t-shirt with no logo at all. -
Weather report makes the jump from 2D to 3D, aggrivates old ladies, Myst-lovers
shbazjinkens replied to Jake's topic in Video Gaming
I can't speak for everywhere, but there's definately a benefit in tornado alley. Tornados are very localized things and when you see it on a mapped 3d surface with the storm clouds in 3d it really does give you a better idea of what is going on (in comparison to the 2d weather maps). But, as I said, ours aren't as good as the one pictured. It's just cell shaded with roads and city names on it. If it had satellite imagery for a colormap, that would be awesome. Oh, and Intrepid, that reminds me of when I believed Yufster's mom was posting on the boards. Christ, that was so obvious. -
Awesome. Now can we play the game?

In Oklahoma (USA) I guess we have some of the best weather technology in the world, but the 3d stuff has been around for a while. The most useful thing to come from it has been the 3d rotation zones and the clouds - it's nice to see them in volume instead of trying to decipher RGB values. The faster I can see where the tornado is going to be, the better. Also - the visual given in the article reminds me of the keyhole.com viewer I've been playing with. The systems here are cell shaded with major roads and cities shown on the map - it doesn't have the satellite imagery like that photo (except for the weather data, of course). -
The PC version just kicks ass.. I was hoping for that, and you'd all dashed my hopes. Thank you Schafer.

Uh, the trailer was just a CG animation of the earth blowing up. Nothing to see of what the movie will be like there.

I wonder if much experimentation has been done using realtime particles, to get something like this?

One that bans presidential candidates from Texas.

Has anyone been able to find a copy of the real photo?

There seems to be an influx of video game characters dancing lately. http://www.collegehumor.com/?movie_id=63190 There was another with a bunch of video game chicks dancing to "Baby got back" but I can't find it anymore.

I think this is photoshopped, but the bandwidth is exceeded on the site you linked and it's the only I could find.
