Have you considered applying for a job in the games industry? Seems like the most straightforward way of getting in, to me..

Yes, please. No such clutter at all, thank you. -
Haha, wow. That's shit.

I haven't looked.

Aww, thanks man! That means a lot. Fun times!

I haven't looked at this thread, but yeah. What PiratePoo and toblix are saying is true.

Idle Thumbs 86: Always Support the Danger Layer

Museum-bait is such a weird thing to call a video game.. -
Here's a Psychonauts thing wot i did:

I agree with almost everything you said brkl, although I can't say it made my enjoyment of the film any lesser. It does make later viewings kind of drag, though. Couldn't agree less about the CGI towns, though. Compared to all-CG shitfests of today, LOTR holds up amazingly with its make-up, sets and miniatures, IMO. Also, I'm sure if you haven't read the books, Strider doesn't immediately strike you as a good guy. They could've made him look more menacing, though.. Gimli, while entertaining, is a pretty hollow character compared to the book. A tad better represented in the Extended Versions.

Idle Thumbs 86: Always Support the Danger Layer

The Monkey Island talk at the beginning made me happy and hopeful for the day I'll play Monkey Island with my son and see the same reactions. -

What were the podcasts Chris was talking about in the later half of the podcast? Something that's essential if you're doing creative work. -
Mario & Sonic's Olympic Shit. Now there's a title.

Agreed! They're doing something right with Mario. One big release, with original gameplay, every three(four?) years or so (Galaxy, Sunshine, 64) And in between put out smaller releases, that don't break any major new ground and put a neat spin on the classic games. They'd be wise to something similar with their other franchises. Keep people happy with some regular small releases, thus giving them time to develop something original, MIND-BLOWING stuff.

The Cave: Ron Gilbert's Double Fine Game (A Tim Schafer Production) (Not Double Fine Adventure)

Sweeping statements are toblix's specialty. -
Yeah, I don't know.. I can honestly say I jump for joy every time I play a new Mario and Zelda. That may also be related to the fact that I just don't play every single Mario and Zelda game. At least not on release. I can understand the sentiment, if you're not someone who does that, though. I feel the same way any other franchise is updated, like GTA.

The FUSE artwork is what looks infinitely MORE bland. Both are bland, though, you're right about that. But at least OVERSTRIKE has the tiniest bit of character in the artwork, not just "Bloom, bitch!"

Wait, I thought everyone agreed that the Monkey Island dialogue was funny when written out, but just sounded weird most of the time when spoken, especially with the over-the-top comic voices in the remakes. I don't have that problem with The Cave, though. I'm looking very much looking forward to The Cave. The art style looks amazing, the animations look great, everything looks top notch, so far. -
Yeah, I'm on a Mac so I wasn't going to back it. But Episode 0 convinced me to go ahead and buy access to the rest! It's so exciting to see behind the scenes at DF. Looks like such a brilliant place to work at and all the project leads sound so excited to get a chance to do their prototype. Great stuff.

Why does everyone assume that? He's running a small indie studio now, I don't think he has money to do whatever the fuck he wants.. And that's besides the point. The point is, he's asking for money, not forcing anyone, and it baffles me that people go "Outrageous! He's not a real starved artist!" Why does that matter? It's a good idea, it needs this much money to get made, you can help it get made without any publisher meddling. -
Oh, man.. I decided not to put the three Goblins in because they're basically already baby-size, but I missed a trick there not putting them in as tiny infants..

Larry has an oversized head, ain't that enough?! Larry is a man-child, is my brilliant statement here. Obviously.

This was excellent. Kirk "Delicious Dish" Hamilton was an excellent guest. -

Wait, so 30 years in the industry, quitting a luxurious job at Microsoft to go start a small, indie studio doesn't earn you the right to ASK people for money, but creating a meme in RPG Maker does? That's weird logic, and I don't understand why older devs are put through such insane amounts of scrutiny just because they want to try the indie thing and have creative control over a project they love?
