The positioning thing probably stems from how the game treats lag. I watched a video of two Bliz guys explaining how they handle latency and what they favour and they lean heavily on the shooter being right. So if, because of latency (to a degree, they don't favour people with huge lag) the enemy can still see you despite you having just made it around a corner, and in his own view he doesn't miss, the server will register it as a hit. There's some balancing there, of course, but they tend to favor the shooter, which is probably why you feel like you're being cheated when you made it around a corner but still get shot. It's a really interesting video, actually. They talk about how they almost always favour shooter-first, unless the target has a special quick-move ability they fire off for example Pharah's horizontal jump. The server will honor that horizontal jump over what the shooter sees. Balancing what each player sees and gets hits for due to latency is always tricky in multiplayer games and it's really interesting to hear them talk about how they tackle it. I just played a bunch of matches with Winston and I think I'm in love. His jump is just so amazing and versatile. Good for traversing big distances, good for jumping in to disrupt and good for jumping out of trouble. I love that big ape.

I kind of wish the game didn't have text chat. People being assholes in chat is pretty much the only bad experience I've had with this. If you're playing with friends you'll communicate with voice chat and when solo'ing on a random server the canned voice commands are enough to co-ordinate, so the text chat just feels like a place for angry people at this point.. Every once in a while people will say "good job!" but mostly it's just angry chat.

I'm playing through Dark Souls 3 and have been doodling each boss I defeat. This is my first Dark Souls ever, so this series of doodles will probably end fast, but here are the first four:

Don't count on Wii U backwards compatibility, because rumours are that Splatoon, Mario Maker and Super Smash Bros. are being ported to the NX.

It's fair enough, but if you don't want the online-enabled features you can play offline, right? You just can't switch your current in-progress save between offline and online. If the game were online only it'd be a totally reasonable complaint.

Yeah, I'm totally going to buy Hitman™ because of you guys talking about it! Wasn't there talk about Steam doing some sort of affiliate/curator/store thing? Is that not how curators work? Super bummed to see that Steam lists user reviews as "mixed" with an almost 50/50 split of positive and negative reviews, the negatives almost always coming down to "it's online-only"

Yeah, i played the first 6 missions and it's super good! Very Advance Wars (so far, don't know if it adds anything new to the formula later on)

Still listening to this, but Rock-a-doodle-doo!! I remember loving that film as a kid, had so many fond memories of it. This was before the internet was a thing in my life. Years go by and I was trying to remember what the film was called so I looked it up and was horrified to see that this supposed gem of a film was absolutely hated by everyone. My world was shattered. I then watched it again and was gutted by how horrible the movie actually was. Holy cow, what a turd of a movie.. Anyway, young me was naive and loved rock and roll, I guess! Oh, and excellent podcast! Look forward to more of this! :tup:
