  1. Lucidity

Aha! Yes! I knew it reminded me of something. Sadly I really enjoyed Tasha's Game and bothered to finish it. I didn't even bother to finish the demo of Lucidity
  2. Mass Effect 2

Ok, so I was listening to Episode 45 and I heard the samples from the Subject Zero trailer... Clearly even when I thought I was listening to the trailer, I wasn't. In short: WTF? "some are just <beep> you" Good grief, what a lame character. Listen to the heavy rock music in the background... she really IS dangerous! Ugh. (Sorry for being late in realising this.) I wonder if her story involves Shepherd forcing her to face her past and thus "taming" her? (How's that for a horrific and vomit-inducing thought?)
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

Ah, I love the Evil Dead trilogy.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

Is they're decent, yeah. It's not like people go "ooh, I'm a huge fan of Dutch movies", but more "I like challenging and interesting film and I don't care if they're Dutch"! In the UK there's several distributors of "art house" moves: Tartan, Momentum and Artificial Eye. (They're not always 100% art house, but they tend to carry smaller movies.)
  5. 'Time Gentlemen, Please!' from Size Five Games

How long did it take you guys to make?
  6. Lucidity

Bah... it looks so pretty, but the gameplay just isn't there. It feels half-done (although certainly not in terms of presentation). It's sort of a cross between Lemmings and Sleepwalker (if anyone remembers that old Amiga game?), but not as good as either of them. The levels designs feel distinctly un-honed and I don't recall seeing anything that came close to being a puzzle... which sort of makes the game a bit like Tetris -- except you can die if you get the "wrong" shaped block. Beautiful, visually polished but seriously seriously lacking anything fun -- they needed a few more months development. Nice to see LA doing something original, though.

There was Doogie Howser's uniform and some talk of "earning" citizenship and um, yeah. That symbolism doesn't really carry much of a message throughout the movie, though. In RoboCop, the main character was a direct product of a corrupt corporation and all that. Loves. The movie which everyone LOVES. They do have subtitles, you know

Hey, Toblix and I joined during the influx of May 2004. Cool! (Well I think so ) What was going on in May that made so many people join?
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

Got to agree with this. While I think Starship Troopers's "political message" got lost behind an awesome and OTT sci-fi yarn, RoboCop is incredibly potently anti-corporate. Also, Total Recall rules Haven't seen any of his European work though, I'm ashamed to say.
  10. New people: Read this, say hi.

Yes! What is that KJ? Makes me think of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy whenever I see it.
  11. What the hell is a Clinical Cytogeneticist? :) (Yes, I could Google it...)

  12. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

Can you play it with the voices turned down and subtitles on? Or maybe in a foreign language? I've never seen such a beautiful, unique concept shat all over in such a horrible way... Maybe losing the voice acting would help disguise the cheesy 2D characters?

Duh. Check his signature: He's kidding!
  14. Idle thumbs London meet!

I have no idea what's happening... (But I do live in London and should be available for any kind of meet up.)
  15. Books, books, books...

I think WWZ is generally considered the better read of the two. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)
  16. The FAKE Engineer Update (or is it!?)

    Very nicely done!

  19. GTA 33: Never Too Early

Ha! For once getting a game a little later than my American friends doesn't seem so bad!
  20. I think my 360 is dying... AGAIN!

Well the screen going green could easily indicate a problem with your TV and/or cables... and I noticed that Voice had gone (ie. nobody could hear me) when the batteries went low in my controller. (How's that for a bit of sunny optimism? )
  21. So, yes! It's another night of GThA this evening and I'm determined not to miss out again... So I'm getting the ball rolling a little early. Hopefully a lot of you chaps can make it!
  22. Brütal Legend overload...!

Just stumbled upon a Game.co.uk exclusive interview with Tim Schafer... Weird! http://www.game.co.uk/brutal/
  23. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah, I do wonder what Aronofsky will do with that... but why remake and tell the same story?
  24. Movie/TV recommendations

I think the problem is that these films are being remade simply to cash in on our nostalgia, and for no other reason than that. They REALLY don't need to be remade, and it's unlikely that anything good will come out of them. They should be focusing on creating new classics. Here's a quick list of remakes currently in some stage of production: Poltergeist Robocop Predator Alien Total Recall The Neverending Story The Karate Kid Conan the Barbarian Red Sonja Barbarella Romancing The Stone Back To School ("classic" 80's comedy) Meatballs Metropolis Akira Death Wish Rosemary’s Baby Forbidden Planet Highlander The Fly It's too much! How about some new stuff, Hollywood?

Final Finance VII was pretty awesome, though.
