  2. Brütal Legend overload...!

Oh no! Is the game going to turn out to be average after all? Oh well, I don't care. Come ere... I'll love ya!

At the very least I think Japan might have issues with it...

Maybe you should update your avatar to better reflect your new mood? (Maybe I should update mine, too.)

Um, to be honest, I really don't think you'll have a "very different game experience" from me... the game isn't THAT Jewish. It's driven by a compelling storyline and by rounded characters... I think anyone could relate to it. Also, as Chris pointed out in the podcast, it's a very short game in a very good way... You can get a lot of satisfaction out of it in a small amount of time.

I bet Valve are pretty steamed... (No, I don't know why I felt the need to post that.)

It's an awesome little adventure game that is great value for money and a lot maturer (in a good way) than 99% of games out there. You mentioned something about the Jewish aspects of the game. I'm not Jewish myself, but I would say that it appeared respectful of Judaism (the game's designer is Jewish, too). Also, here's what Jewish Week said about it. I'm not sure what your reservations are, but I think it's a great little game that should definitely be played by fans of old school adventures. Only $4.99!
  9. Brütal Legend overload...!

    So you'll buy a 360, right?

Finally beat GTAIV -- completely. As in I got every reasonable Achievement (ie. not based around multiplayer). Finished it 100% and how have unlimited ammo with which to sow destruction onto the city. I'm glad I did it, but I'm not sure if I really feel any major sense of achievement, though :-/
  11. Brütal Legend overload...!

Yeah, I know what you mean... Although any spoilers should be , there's going to be a lot of hype. But at the same time, enjoying the game at the same time as my fellow Thumbs will probably be good fun (provided I can find the time to keep up -- plus I don't want to rush the game). I can't believe we're only days away from a new Tim Schafer game!

Yeah! That, oddly enough, was also a good game. Never got around to playing the sequel though. Completed both Pushover and Sleepwalker (although I may have cheated on the latter if it was as hard you all say it was).

Awww! Now I feel all guilty My apologies. I'm sure that thread was highly amusing... if you could understand it.

Hehe. How is wearing a monocle considered having good taste?
  15. Brütal Legend overload...!

I'm sure plenty of people have done it stoned... but I'd be amazed if Brutal Legend, with all the best hopes for it in the world, makes a single human being roll around on the floor laughing. It will, however, make people giggle until their sides split.

  17. Good internet writing

Richard Cobbet's blog is usually a good place for Video game musings (although it's not always about video games).
  18. Lucidity

That's correct. Not sure how that worked in the US, but in the UK it featured Lenny Henry and part of the money went to Comic Relief. Astoundingly the game was actually pretty decent, too.
  19. Brütal Legend overload...!

Dear Mr. Thrik, that you for your helpful correspondence re: pre-ordering Brutal Legend. I have taken your advice and pre-ordered it from GameStation. However, I've just remembered that our mail system is completed messed up, and I'm wondering if that was a wise move Your friend, ThunderPeel2001
  20. Brütal Legend overload...!

Dear Mr. Thrik, where in the UK should I buy this game for maximum brutalness? (Ie. pre-order special goodness, etc.) Your friend, ThunderPeel2001

This is worse than that thread featuring programming "anecdotes".

*sigh* Good times. I hate to say it, but kids today will never experience the healthy frustration of dreaming of playing games. Back then cover art meant something! I remember I drooled over the Monkey Island review in Amiga Power back in the day. I'd always loved the idea of adventure games, but they'd ALWAYS sucked when I tried them (I hate text parsers to this day). MI seemed to fill all of my fantasies when I read the review: Smart, funny, clever and no goddamned text parser -- apparently it was like being in your own movie. It was my favourite game of all time and I'd never even played it... and I didn't get to play it until my next birthday (some months later) when I got the 1MB upgrade for my Amiga. Astoundingly it managed to live up to my expectations. Aye, those were the days
