  1. Super Mario 3D World

What a wonderful game this is, which yes I've only just gotten round to after nearly polishing off the splendid DKC:TF. The visuals are so crisp, the music so refreshing after the ho-hum of the New Mario Bros games, and the throwbacks to previous games are smile-inducing. Sometimes I forget just how impeccably polished Nintendo games are — there wasn't even a patch to download! Also, that (world 1) map music is totally a remix of Zelda's Lullaby, right?
  2. Life

Weird. I'd definitely be annoyed about that. Really they should refund part of your deposit or something... they could have been highly sentimental plants!
  3. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Bloody hell fire. PS: This game is wonderful. The game world feels so organic and more unpredictable than before. The gameplay, audio design, and world come together incredibly well — and there's so much to do. If they successfully scale this up to a much bigger game then holy shit. Also it's like £6 on PSN for a few days.
  4. Deus Ex Universe

Your point is valid but I don't see why it's a problem. The fact that there are parallels with the way we use and think about technology now is precisely what makes it such a relatable story that speculates about a road we could start going down quite soon considering recent advancements in robotics and prosthetics. It's not exactly revolutionary sci-fi, but it still provides a very enjoyable backbone for a game with some of the best mechanics I've enjoyed on years. Admittedly I'm a big fan of stealth games like Metal Gear Solid, which it takes a good few beats from — maybe it's not so great did action-orientated play.
  5. Deus Ex Universe

And let's not forget that he never asked for the thankless duty of dispatching evil virus authors.
  6. Deus Ex Universe

It looks exactly like Human Revolution to me? In fact, if anything it looks a bit too much like it — I kind of expected the signature hue of the game to change, much like it went from blue to orange with Human Revolution. The screenshots are unsurprisingly gun-heavy, but so were many promotional videos and shots last time around. Nothing to worry about here I'd say.
  7. Deus Ex Universe

I like his voice, although he does sound like Batman.
  8. Deus Ex Universe

There isn't enough fuck yes in the world to do my reaction to this news justice. I absolutely loved Human Revolution. To those who didn't finish it, the final act is worth it. What a cool location that is. Jesus, I can't wait to dive back into this world. Good job I've got MGS to satiate me.
  9. Who the bloody hell is Little Mac anyway?! If I were to get the Yarn Yoshi — which I likely will if I actually see if anywhere — I'd probably go for blue or pink by virtue of the fact that I expect it'll affect the colour of the extra yoshi you get in the game, which I think will look nice.
  10. What a nutter. His apparently genuine hatred for that character and her fans is bizarre. I mean I wouldn't say that I'm some Rosalina enthusiast, but she was a cute and nice character in Galaxy And yes, those yarn Yoshi's are fabulous. In fact, how wonderful does this game look? http://youtu.be/lUP11YLCYWg
  11. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

I really hope that in MGS5 we finally find out where Liquid Snake's personality came from, during a mid-game musical number where Big Boss shows that he's as fine at dance as he is at CQC, with his singing voice provided by Cam Clarke.
  12. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Ground Zeroes is on PSN PS4 for less than £6 for Easter. Seems like now is the time to grab it.
  13. Life

It seems like it'd be beyond shit to do that considering the circumstances and also without any warning. I'd agree that it sounds more likely to be a public holiday type thing or some ghastly glitch. Who'd shitcan a lovely, lovable Hendroid?
  14. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

It doesn't really make sense... I mean, he's getting on a bit age-wise in both MGS5 (60s) and MGS1 (40s) so I wouldn't expect there to be so much difference; it was just about excusable with MGS3 because he was practically a teenager. Also just everything about Ocelot was absolutely spot on in MGS1 and MGS2 — an iconic character. I know that the same thing has happened with Snake, but that may still play out well if Hayter voices a Solid Snake appearance in MGS5. And regardless, while it happening with one iconic character is bad enough, two losing their original voice actors is just shit. I'm sure opinions vary, but I remain of the feeling that changing the voices of beloved MGS characters is quite sad. I'll be able to live with it, but I'd really rather it didn't happen if it's avoidable. I don't doubt any of the new actors' abilities to do a great job, but it's like switching out the actor for Saul in Homeland, or perhaps more pertinently swapping out the actor for Jack Bauer in 24.
  15. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

MGS4 pretty much went there but stopped short of the all-important return of the voice actor, instead giving us Tired Ocelot to complement Tired Snake. Incidentally, I'm actually more annoyed we're not getting the classic Ocelot voice in MGS5 than any of this Kiefer business.
  16. PL4YST4TION 4

Them solving this technical hurdle would be a good time to implement some kind of real boundaries on what constitutes an offline, online, and semi-online game and build suspend policies accordingly. If it's a binary choice then that might limit certain games that make of subtle connectivity and hybrid games.
  17. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

I would enjoy the revelation that somehow things got mixed up and actually Liquid Snake was comprised of partial Kojima genes.
  18. Plug your shit

You lovely bastard. I'm definitely buying that.
  19. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Is that Kojima in Ground Zeroes? Man, I love that he exists as a 'character' in the Big Boss games. I'm hoping that he becomes more than my chef in Peace Walker though.
  20. Life

I'm really close and love them very much, although I only see them every couple of weeks to a month seeing as I live in a different albeit close city. While I'm very independent and don't really need the guidance that they offer to my sister, it's always nice 'coming home' and just spending the evening there to catch up. My dad's as into technology as me so that always gives us plenty to talk about, which will at times segue into something more serious like relationships. My mum I'm often similarly open with, and I know they tell each other everything anyway. And with three siblings there's always plenty to talk about there! I have to admit that I got pretty shit at seeing them in my early 20s, sometimes only once every several months. I let focusing on my career and relationship distract me, but after experiencing multiple friends the same age as me losing one of their parents in the last few years (e.g. dad at 50) it's made me realise that the adult years I can share with my parents are precious — so I committed myself to seeing them once every few weeks.
  21. Cities: Skylines

Jeez, I was getting really annoyed yesterday because the game was running pretty badly on OS X. I installed it on Windows instead and there's literally like a 500% difference. Before it would seem a bit sluggish on low/medium settings at 1440p, whereas now it's maxed out and hitting 40–60 FPS. Lovely! My very early impressions are: The music seems really weirdly integrated, usually barely audible and not particularly interesting. Bit jarring after the WONDERFUL soundtracks in the SimCity games but whatever. Holy crap it's a lot of work laying out water, sewage, and electricity routes for all buildings. The game looks beautiful. I'm not seeing much in the way of arbitrary stuff to do. It'd be nice if I had some little quests or scenarios to work towards. Maybe I should get The Dragon Age Inquiry to scratch that itch.
  22. Life

That's OK, you should of course do what you feel is right and ultimately nothing super bad will happen whatever the case! We all do things in our own perculiar way, especially when it concerns the stupidly confusing world of relationships. I have actually probably just walked away from potential relationships in the name of pre-empting hurt I've experienced before, so you're right to weigh in that factor.
  23. Life

I don't know, I prefer to let actions speak louder than words. If there's been no physical affection after multiple dates then I'd probably just stop going on dates with that person. It makes things a lot less stressful for me if I don't analyse the heck out of everything and instead take things at face value — if I'm not seeing clear chemistry and sparks in both directions after a couple of dates then that's pretty much it. Seeking true closure with every person I date is a recipe for pain. The fact that the people of the UK can be a bit shy of being too direct about anything might contribute to this, but I've very rarely had it go down well when I've tried being more clear about intentions early on in the dating process. Usually the issue is evaded or — if it's via a text — I'm ignored. That smarts more for me than just drifting away.
  24. I need a little help regarding my buttocks

Yeah, lack of good couch PC control options is literally the one thing stopping me from having a gaming PC in my living room. I did it before and virtually never used it because it was such a pain in the ass compared to using a wonderful game pad.
