Yeah the US Netflix is literally a billion times better than the straight-to-DVD bog that is the UK version. Same goes for the TV offerings, really. I've never tried LoveFilm's streaming stuff, but I hear its film collection is more like the US experiences with Netflix.

While it's unfortunate that her music has had its collective ass raped off by TV adverts (something that seems to happen to quite a few of the electronica artists I listen to), I've nonetheless been enjoying Santigold's second album. It was initially difficult to get over associating the excellent Disparate Youth with a certain advert series that seems to make an appearance during every ad break ever, it is a great song from a great album. My favourites: I'm sure by this point literally everyone in the world has heard the first album, but I still listen to that a lot too. Great artist.

No ambient music? Wut.

Man, totally forgot it never came out on PC. Great news, wonder if it means any improvements too. I agree with Rodi that despite it blatantly having issues that prevent it from being something I'd consider a total unmissable classic, it is nonetheless a serious Double Fine effort that had a lot of love and that unique Schafer wit poured into it. I really enjoyed my time with it.

That's interestingly how I felt about the original Deus Ex, but for some reason this one has totally bitten me. I think part of it is all the corporate politics stuff and feeling like a small part of a thriving bigger whole, along with the negatives that go with it. It's something I can really relate to during the current point of my career.

So I've been playing Deus Ex: HR and sweet Jesus this game has such a great, utterly enveloping atmosphere. Even right now as I sit at work I can't stop thinking about much I want to get back to it. Shieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

God can you imagine if you're getting ultra-delicate surgery done and your surgeon faints for no apparent reason? The improbable yet possible fact this could happen...

That's still not great. It'd mean that if, say, you had a living room console and a bedroom console for the kids — not an unusual situation in households of today — everyone would need to use the same login to play the games, which obliterates the point of per-user saves, achievements, friends, etc. More sensible would be to make it so that a game has to be 'installed' before being played (even if you're not literally copying it onto your HD like you can with the 360), and once that's been done it's only possible to install it on other consoles using that same Xbox LIVE account. But then once it's installed it remains on that console for use by anyone. That's not what the rumour implies though, so hopefully it's just badly worded.
-
Seems like madness to me. What about kids taking games to friends' houses? Multi-console households? They can't be that daft.

Haha, oh god. I was trying to name Outcast some time ago and couldn't fathom its name for the life of me. I remember getting lost in its at-the-time incredibly open world and being pretty much amazed, although I had no idea what was going on and it ran at about one frame per second.

Did you find the secret snails that aren't listed anywhere? -
I'm well hyped for Darksiders 2. Still got some way to go in #1, currently in some desert place with a ginormous worm. The atmosphere is so great in this game, one of those you just can't wait to get back to. Any Zelda fans apply within. Also playing BioShock properly on the 360 for the first time. Shit man, what a convincingly horrific, tragic, and thought-provoking world.

While I can probably come up with a more exhaustive list if I think about it when I'm less tired, I already have nostalgic memories of Red Dead Redemption and Heavy Rain — something that usually happens when I really feel enveloped by a game world. Darksiders is a recent one I've enjoyed too, quite Zelda-ish. Which of course brings me to Wind Waker: my god did that game immerse me into its wonderful seafaring atmosphere.

Yeah he's a quality actor. I'd be more excited to see Noble, though. He's so brilliant!

Here's how things are looking in the depths of winter: Really wish I'd bothered to set up some kind of tripod system so I could get the same shot over different seasons and do some kind of fancy blending shit. Maybe this year.

Some keyboard drivers (like Logitech) do that.

The problem with the PS3 UI is it hash really been substantially updated to integrate new features properly — they've just added endless sub-items all over the place. It was actually pretty concise when it launched. As stupid as it sounds, I think a key part of this has been all the premium themes Sony's spent this generation peddling. Many of them customise the icons too, so if Sony wants to make dramatic changes suddenly there's 500+ themes that need updating or they'll look retarded. Sony should learn from Microsoft and stick to backgrounds next time.

Same. It's a well-known cause of motion sickess, not that many people know it's the cause though — which is why developers should be vigilant about it and provide options at least. So no, it wasn't sad when they fixed that (although by that point I'd stopped anyway). I have got it on the 360 now though, so I'll at least get to experience it before Infinite.

Yeah he really is. Finally got round to watching Super 8 recently... absolutely brilliant, though not at all what I was expecting. His breadth of skill is impressive. Couldn't be happier with the news.
