Via the related videos for that I found this, and holy shit some of the most awkward stuff I've ever seen: The guy at 27:00, oh god. I feel for him, I really do.

God damn. Send your saved game to Double Fine?

I'm most interesting in hearing what Zeusthecat has to say about the game. Having been popping his cherry with numerous classic LucasArts adventure games recently, he hasn't got the lifetime of expectations and experience we have. In many ways, it's just another 2013/2014 adventure game for him. I'd love to see how he feels Broken Age compares. Are the puzzles really that easy compared to the classics? Have we all just forgotten how obvious adventure game puzzles seem the moment you solve them? Do the mechanics feel better or worse than the smorgasbord of attempts LucasArts took? What say you, divine feline?

The thread is much better now, you utter and complete muppet. Hopefully Jake can resist the monumental urge to smash open the spoiler tag like yet another of his inevitable conquests. My donation budget is exhausted for this month but if the funds are still short after the next pay day I'll throw some in.

Use the spoiler tag you absolute tit. On a big monitor like the one I and surely Jake have the image is immediately visible upon opening the thread.

Has anyone ever been fleeced out of a valuable Steam item?
Thrik replied to Niyeaux's topic in Idle Banter
I'm not really your candidate, but gather round for a story. I had the Sam & Max developer items in TF2 which as I understood it literally couldn't be given away. I then had some guy email me a good while later asking me if I'd sell them, to which I said that I both couldn't and wouldn't. He negotiated with me for a while (pretty sad how much people are willing to pay) and eventually gave up. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a coincidence that a few weeks later my Steam account was hijacked, all of my items robbed, all of my gift games given away, and all of my friends deleted. -
What a god damn weird video.

Function keys are probably better for officer workers more than gamers, as you can handily bind email responses to all your colleagues and customers to each key.

I must admit that the 'backers only' thing has been pretty awkward at times. Over time it's also easy to forget what you're actually meant to talk to people about, so in my case I talk about nothing. It'd probably be much easier for everyone involved if open truly meant open, even if certain things didn't happen (e.g. releasing trailers early, the beta) in order to control the conventional marketing of the game. Whoever said it above was right that it's weird there was going to be a long delay between the game becoming widely playable and anyone being able to actually review it (fortunately now relaxed). I guess they're still finding their feet, and Bjorn is right that the landscape has changed dramatically since Double Fine introduced Kickstarter to the world. It seems appropriate to be completely open about it nowadays. Has any other developer been as open as Double Fine thus far when it comes to this whole thing? I've only backed Godus (What even happened to that?) and Broken Sword aside from this, and those were most definitely not open. Also I know nothing about how Massive Chalice is being handled as I didn't back it.
-
And that's why nobody is open.
-
Yeah, the sense of entitlement I've seen is kind of sad. "Why shouldn't we share? THAT was never in the contract, sir!" kind of bollocks. Same applied to the polite review embargo request. And fair enough, it isn't in any contract or NDA. But it's still properly lame. It's hardly going to encourage more developers to be open, so I guess we'll probably move towards most games being more like Broken Sword (i.e. they don't share much). Maybe if they were to continue doing this kind of thing then NDAs would be the only solution.
-
Oh dear. No kind of crash report/log thing to help them fix such despicable nonsense?
-
Seems like a non-issue. Despite the wording, it comes across as obvious to me that the intent is no 'proper' reviews go up based on the backer beta. I'd imagine that your average bastard on Idle Bums or a WordPress blog isn't their concern and will be overlooked. The real target is likely some Destructoid writer who thinks he can circumvent the embargo by writing a review based on his personal backer version. Of course there's only so lightly you can put this kind of legal bollocks. I doubt Double Fine has suddenly decided to become evil.
-
Yep. Although it sounds like this is a real beta (i.e. very close to final), so it should mostly be OK. Still, as per my usual beta policy I'll wait until the final release.

If you take the first letter of every line in the backer email about having to take the video down due to sharing, it spells 'elmuerte'.
-
Bloody hell, can't they work on it for another year so I can get GTA5 out of the way first?

Pretty sure it's time for you to die.

Spotify Discover delivers the goods again.

I... what? Someone find me a gun.

Hot stuff, I enjoy the sky. It's a weird thing to jump to mind but you should probably get some power lines in there. You could have them blow in the wind and have a puzzle involve cutting the power to the diner. It'd be so cool!

While the animation in this game is indeed superb, I am afraid the #1 video game hug remains:

New Broken Bells album imminent. I am pleased. Killer bass lines and some unusual sounds.
