The game itself is not among the rewards? Weird. (I only skimmed the page and didn't watch the video)

I hate wasps! Although I've never been stung (that I remember), I can't stand them. Just a couple of days ago I woke up to a wasp landing on my arm. The nerve! Some months ago I saw a huge one (seemed about thumb sized, I guess that's a hornet) trying to fly in through a window, but I managed to close the window before it got in. After that I had dreams of giant larger-than-human-bees chasing me for a couple of nights.

I played UT much later than it came out, but I mostly played InstaGib, so the weapon selection didn't matter. I preferred it to Q3, though. But I was very much a casual player of either.

I didn't like the original enough to finish it, so I'll probably skip the second one. Someone is prototyping an Orcs Must Die!-inspired board game that sounds really cool, though.

Yes. A while ago, I backed Life Flashes By, an adventure game by Deirdra Kiai. That got released. Of course, it was long before KS became so popular for games. And it was a really small game.

Lines of Fire (Bomberman as a board game)
Erkki replied to Erkki's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
Seems the hex board was a temporary diversion. I went back to the square board because it seemed a lot more fun to players. Hex was too hard to figure out. -
I never got into Nethack or Angband much, but I just realized that one of the games I did play a lot was basically very similar to, if not actually a roguelike. Mordor: The Depths of Dejenol. It had like 16 or so levels, but I only got down to 13 when I stopped playing (after something like 200 hours). Later I tried it's sequel Demise: Rise of the Ku'tan, but although it seemed to have improved over the original, I didn't play it much. They played more like Legend of Grimrock (whatever that genre is called) than a roguelike, and there wasn't a permadeath, but your characters could lose levels from powerful monster attacks (which took a long time to get back!).

I started playing Dungeons of Dredmor. A bit much grinding, although with the small maps it's more or less ok and too much inventory management because you will fill it up quickly.

Lines of Fire (Bomberman as a board game)
Erkki replied to Erkki's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
You know, unless I get the crazy idea that I should buy a license from Hudson, I actually want to take the game in a bit different direction than being as much like Bomberman as possible. I want the basic mechanics and the main trinity of power-ups to stay the same, but that's it. I think the hex board already makes it seem quite different from Bomberman. Does an Aztec theme sound crazy? Six Aztec gods gather to play a game of ōllamaliztli, to determine who is going to become the sixth sun. But the trickster god Huehuecóyotl has played a trick on them and replaced the balls with bombs! With no way to play their game, each god decides to blow up the others and become the new sun. -
Lines of Fire (Bomberman as a board game)

I use Bombarena as a code name. Will have to find something better -- apparently it sounds like Macarena. Hmm... maybe Bombarena of the Befuddled. If I use that name, it should be safe to use assets from the Bomberman games. (just kidding) Anyway, I was playing Descent 2nd ed today and didn't find much time for play testing this Got 3 players to play the hex board, but it didn't seem very fun that way -- also they didn't want to try the time-limited / no-elimination variants, so they just played with previous rules basically (except for a few tweaks). Also, I bought an A3 printer/scanner to help me produce prototypes with a quicker turnaround (actually wanted to buy a printer for years but needed that extra reason), but turns out the very thick paper I wanted to use gets jammed in it I may have made a stupid choice and should have gotten an A4 printer which can print on thicker paper instead. Oh well. -
Lines of Fire (Bomberman as a board game)

I've actually made some recent changes to make it fast and hectic like that, including incorporating a time limit of 15 seconds for a movement turn! Earlier play tests showed there was a lot of thinking time, especially towards the end. A problem with that is player elimination -- might be frustrating to make a wrong move under time pressure and get eliminated -- trying to get rid of that. Today if everything works out I hope some local people are willing to play test some new rules where there are a set number of rounds after the center wall is destroyed, and the one who has the most bombs wins (bombs are re-distributed on player death and then they respawn for next round). -
I was about to buy some meat (chicken) yesterday but decided not to, thanks to this thread. Not becoming a vegetarian though, but maybe I'll try to eat less of it.

Lines of Fire (Bomberman as a board game)

Oh man, the game should become more fun once I get some new rules polished and some of the mechanics changed. If anyone wanted to play test -- wait a little bit. I will have a much funner version in a week or two (or even sooner). -
Idle Thumbs 65: Dance of the Treasure Goblin

Still worth playing Titan Quest nowadays? I think I got it from an earlier Steam sale. -
I find the term "organic" to be confusing. All food is (mostly) organic. I looked up what it means (we don't use that term here), but I still find it strange to call some food non-organic.

Risen 2 had a sale? Aargh

Is there even a point to playing Clear Sky without the Complete or some other mod? I once tried, but it seemed quite broken early in the game.
-
I have too many unplayed games, so I only got a few this time: Thief Gold Thief II BioShock 2 QUBE Scratches
-
It's easy: just play the games, don't read gaming sites. Well, I only know about STALKER mods thanks to this forum and RPS, now I know about this one too. PS. I definitely want to give Clear Sky a go when I have free time. Hmm... maybe I should give up on L.A. Noire and play Clear Sky instead.

Hmm... of course. Seems I was being dumb. Still, there might be issues with the balance of nature that might affect that we don't know about. And of course, we couldn't just let the cattle out into the wild nature, so would we try to get rid of them somehow or just let them die out -- did we even have any right to breed them into what they are now? Anyway, I don't know where I'm going with this as it can't be any worse than the current situation.
-
Seems everyone ignored my post, but I'll try to expand in one way: if we stopped eating cows for food, would we need to stop using them to obtain milk? Isn't it pretty much slavery for them anyway, even if we try to treat them well? And if we did not stop milking them, how would their lives improve? Perhaps they would have to suffer in their old age instead of a quick death *. Would we start burying them? I think these things are not as simple are most of you seem to be making them out to be. Then again, maybe they are and I'm just trying to find justifications for my own preferences. But somehow I don't think it's as easy as humans stop eating meat and that unquestionably makes us more moral than if we didn't. * I might be talking out of my ass, there are probably different milk cows and meat cows for the most part. I don't know what happens to the milk cows, really.

I used to have a setting of 40 posts per page or something, on the old forums. I kind of liked it that way -- less and longer pages --, except when anyone talked about being "on page X", that number was always wrong for me. I've stuck with the defaults on the new forums, but starting to think that maybe I should go back to 40 per page... except now that I looked, I can't find such a setting anywhere... Is there one?
