Found a somewhat affordable hotel in the marina district. Would have liked to find something cheaper, but the stories of bedbugs @ trip advisor scared me about most of the cheaper choices. Then again, there seemed to be *some* bedbug stories about every hotel. Anyway, current plan is to be in San Francisco at least for the full weekend (Friday noon to Monday morning), and on Monday I will likely go to Yosemite. So, any meetups during the weekend would be cool. What about that something-0 plus one month birthday, subbes?

I made 0.80€ This is much more boring than the time I discovered I could sell my severed max head for millions*! * IIRC I got three new AAA games or so.

Also "best 4G coverage in Europe" apparently, which is why it would be a bit sad to get a non-4G phone. But then, I've been ok with 3G so far.

Hmm... wow, Nexus 4 has a way lower price than those top of the line phones, and I could go to my nearest local carrier's shop right now and buy it. Yestreday I briefly considered waiting for next iPhone (esp. if it will have NFC). My sister needs a new phone as well, maybe I'll buy this now and give it to her if I decide I want a 4G phone.

Google Play doesn't sell devices in my country I thought of buying one from US while I'm there, as the phones there are much cheaper, but it seems the US phones have different 4G frequencies. It would be too bad to buy one with non-working-4G just as my local carrier opened their 4G network all over the place.

I didn't know this thing existed until the summer sale started. I guess it was an opt-in thing until now?

The game is simple except for the various statuses. Especially if you have a quest and many statuses, it gets kind of complex. There's a house rule of playing with only one status at a time, but that will make less sense story-wise.

First Person Oculus Rift minigame in GTA V confirmed!

Also, what is the best area (while not too expensive) in SF to stay, if I stay in a hotel in the city for a few days?

Sadly, I'll not be there the same time as you -- I'll arrive on the 19th (Friday, about noon) and will have free time for a week or so.

I'd be glad to take Little Inferno and Cogs

You mean 5 things, right?

Ok, maybe we are taking the thread off topic now, but I accidentally found another FP horror game on Greenlight: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93184542

First Person games have never been more interesting than about now.

Crap, I didn't manage to buy that 3GS, it also had non-functional GPS. I'm now also thinking of switching to Android and getting either Samsung Galaxy S4 or HTC One. Lets say I buy a normal one with the manufacturer's custom UI crap... Can I change to stock Android later? Also, will I be able to share the internet connection of my Android phone to my iPad (over bluetooth or whatever)?

I probably can't wait and will buy it for PS3, then PC later. That's what I usually end up doing with GTA games.

If it will be on PS3 and I will have a TV by then, then I'm in.

Well, I've never been awesome at platformers, and this one is so imprecise that I can't imagine beating some areas based on skill. Besides, from the presentation, the game seems much more oriented towards raising stats, but if you don't have good skills, raising the stats will take a lot of time. But actually, maybe this is a perfect combination, I don't know. But ok, I admit you may be able to raise your stats so much that skill becomes less important. But seems it will take a while to get there. I used to have a lot of near-empty runs, but then I found a few setups which worked for me: barbarian + blood gear, or even lich + blood gear. I can now clear out the main area almost every time (except for a few chests that can't be reached with all characters or require tricky platforming) and most of the forest as well. Haven't tried bosses yet.

I didn't really know him at all as I didn't follow Giant Bomb much, but from the few Quick Looks and stuff I watched, he seemed like a cool guy, and judging by my twitter feed a lot of people are going to miss him.

Looks like they are doing a bunch of new things, which is great, but also looks like it'll have San Andreas level of ridiculous amount of stuff to do, like buy clothes and even stocks.

Man, this game is good, but such a time sink. I played the demo for several hours straight -- if you enjoy the demo I suggest upgrading to paid version soon because the demo didn't seem to have the "quick drop" option, without which I find it impossible to do those downward attacks. The full game has much more variety, and its strange that the demo didn't really mention what was missing. It's a huge time sink because sometimes you just have several runs in a row where you get killed too soon to be able to buy anything next time. I had some when I unlocked Shinobi and Miner and got killed a lot with those guys. It also depends on player skill a bit too much for my taste, and I have no idea how I'm going to defeat any of the bosses or even the slightly bossier enemies. But otherwise it's a good game and I imagine I could be playing this for a long time.

Played it last night. Good goldgame! When starting I was prepared to make choices I would regret later, but there was one choice where I still almost wanted to start over. Then I later remembered that playing through Season 1, one of the things I enjoyed most was that the game made me want to live with my choices, and I accepted my choice. I haven't read the rest of this thread, so someone might have talked about this already -- it was the one in the car where the other dude leaves to investigate, then someone attacks you. I didn't mean to abandon my friend, but thought that if I started the car I would still have a choice to go back and help him. I was wrong. But later I made it make sense to me -- I was again under time pressure and had to do something. I wasn't thinking 100% clearly and during those few seconds my own survival seemed more important than whatever situation my friend would be in, so I drove away and didn't see a way to get back there without getting myself killed -- just hoping my friend would somehow survive.

I'm assuming it should be able to find my Season 1 save games from the cloud? I have meanwhile uninstalled season 1.

Interactive Fiction/Text Adventures (and their engines)
Erkki replied to Ben X's topic in Video Gaming
I didn't use to make a distinction between the terms, but in the past I've probably only played what you call "text adventures". From what I've recently played, Versu on iOS is probably more like IF and not "text adventure" (at least it doesn't have a parser, you always select something), but really I still don't care about the distinction much.- 61 replies

Yes! I can't really imagine Tim Schafer making a "modest" adventure game. I guess Full Throttle was modest in size.
