  1. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

You might like this: They only have one or two good albums, though. And those are older ones that are not on Spotify or Deezer.
  2. Feminism

I hate* coming back to an argument that was seemingly going nowhere for several pages (I read it yesterday and thought about it some today), but IMHO it is worth making a distinction of what is sexism to one woman vs. what can we somewhat objectively consider sexism and researching the second is worthwhile even if it ignores the subjective element. If attributes of sexism could be somewhat objectively recognized as such, there could be more general rules (laws?) to prevent it, widely accepted. When dealing with masses (even a games convention, for example), you can't be preventative by relying on the subjective experiences of individuals and have to have some general rules that treat everyone the same to some degree. I'm not talking out of experience, so it maybe out of my ass instead. * revel in.
  3. Ace Team's Abyss Odyssey

I am playing this, so far I like how it looks, and even as I thought I might enjoy the fact that the combat is slow-paced, it could be a bit faster to control. Is there really no way to save the progress of one run? I would play it more if I knew I could do it for 30 minutes and keep my progress.
  4. Non-video games

Wow, you suddenly made me realize that I miss Ascension. I used to play it with only certain people, and I always claimed to not like it very much (but maybe secretly did), then later started playing it on iPad and started to like it more. Since my previous iPad got stolen months ago, I haven't played it at all and now I'm suddenly thinking of buying a physical version to play with some guys I play Dominion with.
  5. Walking Dead Season the Second

This is an adventure game, not a survival horror / resource management game. The medicine as an inventory object is not important. The game barely makes use of inventory any more, anyway. And I don't see how the episode would have improved if you (as Clementine, M.D.) had to go and use the medicine on everyone.
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

Why is that? I didn't know the name, just googled him and while I don't like Family Guy (from the little I've seen), seems he worked on things I liked in my early twenties at least (Cow & Chicken etc.)
  7. The 'Does this thread exist?' thread

Also relevant, interview with the fox's creator: http://crappytaxidermy.com/post/90420823835/interview-with-adele-morse-creator-of-stoner-fox
  8. The 'Does this thread exist?' thread

PS, here's some quality crappy taxidermy, my second favourite ever:
  9. The 'Does this thread exist?' thread

I posted that fox and I find all my crappy taxidermy by googling for "crappy taxidermy". I used to follow the similarly named Twitter and Facebook accounts, but it was getting too uncanny for me. Also duncan fyfe likes those if anyone wants to become friends with him to get to Olly Moss.
  10. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

    Yeah, awesome video!
  11. Non-video games

I played Mansions of Madness again after a long while. It's still kind of awesome and a bit shit at the same time. The rules are kind of badly structured like many Fantasy Flight games and there's just so much stuff to keep track of (as the Keeper) that I completely forgot to make investigators do sanity checks when encountering monsters. I only managed to get one player's sanity down enough for serious traumas, thanks to setting most of the map on fire. Even with the players mostly sane, though, I still won, although I wasn't sure I would in the middle of the game. I managed to kill two investigators and when one of the two remaining failed a dexterity check and dropped his weapon fighting the end-boss, we decided that there's no point playing to the end since they have no chance (it was kind of late already and everyone was sleepy). At the end it definitely seemed that at least that particular variant of the story was easier for the keeper, while in the middle I was sure I was going to lose when my key monsters were being destroyed with some lucky one-hits. That kind of reversal of fortunes is awesome about the game, but also prone to leave that impression of unbalance. Listening to the "RPG Dungeon" soundscape on http://mynoise.net/ while playing was pretty cool.
  12. Walking Dead Season the Second

Yes, nobody forgot anything www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkQKKeMANWY&feature=player_detailpage#t=182 (spoiler)
  13. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

A colleague put this on while we were playing Mansions of Madness this week: http://mynoise.net/ It's pretty cool, generator for all kinds of ambient sounds.
  14. Sir, You Are Being Hunted

Yeah, I think they made it too difficult (at least in the Beta I was playing a while ago). I tried to play it for a while, but it was just too hard.
  15. Walking Dead Season the Second

    Ep 4:
  16. Life

The Swedish and Finnish idioms are nuts. I don't think we have many ridiculous ones in common use in Estonia. "It is here the dog is buried" - "siia ongi koer maetud". (Seems unlike Finns/Swedes) we mostly use it at the "aha" moment when we've already found the catch.
  17. Moondog - The Real Moon Wizard

When I look at Moondog on Deezer, there are tens of albums, but most of them seem to have the same pieces, except for Sax Pax and a few others probably. I've left some albums on when I go to sleep but I almost always hear the same stuff.
  18. Areal (aka S.T.A.L.K.E.R. / Metro 3.0)

    Curioser and curioser
  19. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I tried to listen to the Weird Al album, but to me it is obnoxious -- the music, it's just not my taste, enough outside of my range to not be able to judge the quality even.
  20. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Yeah, Crocodile Chop is my fave. I wouldn't actually listen to most of Mouth Silence in sincerity, but I also liked the Want You Back/Pokemon thing. Hehe, seeing Arvo Pärt's name spelled without the umlaut is funny (but understandable of course) because it translates to something like "Arvo the Duck" or Arvo's duck.
  21. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Mouth Silence (Mouth Sounds 2) is out http://www.neilcic.com/mouthsilence/
  22. Feminism

Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot that part.

Situations like that rape accusation usually seem complex, but to me it always feels weird when people think they have to "make a decision" on which side to stand. I don't know, I still believe only courts can make those kinds of decisions -- and yes, they can err as well, but I'm not sure if there is much value to each individual who hears about the case to start deciding whether the guy is a rapist or not based on what they've read on the Internet so far.
