  1. Double Fine

Listen, I remember someone somwewhere posted something about american idol that had something to do with DF and Psychonauts!! :shifty: And if Jack Black is a "male" thing, that explains a lot. :shifty: :shifty:
  2. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I listened to Radiohead's latest for a few times as well. I dunno... it wasn't what I expected. It was quite minimalistic. And I still prefer buying records IRL to downloading them.
  3. Double Fine

    He is? My word.
  4. Captain August is back

I think my visits count for 50% of your daily traffic, though you must have other fans who are as avid as I am (still, an RSS feed would reduce the amount of my weekly visits...). I miss the forums, now I can't comment on the comics except in my own head. Sob. Were the viruses for Mac & Linux as well? And Safari/Firefox?
  5. Double Fine

I'm speechless. They're obviously trying to do the "dark" thing now after they thought P-nauts flopped because it's cutesy. Interesting note of the day: that American Idol (??) fellow isn't known outside USA.
  6. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Then again maybe I just don't like heavy in general. Whatever. Meh. If somebody thinks some album X which "everybody else" enjoys is crap, fine with me. I myself am not quite partial to Pink Foyd, but apparently Wish you were here is a fantastic record. Some say Sigur Ros is awesome - their music is too minimalistic to my tastes, but still somewhat enjoyable sometimes (still not awesome). I like Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, but I think most of you would regard it as noise. I can, generally, understand why somebody would like or dislike an album or a band I like. Of course anyone voicing their opinion in a simplified "X is crap"-manner sounds rather stupid, but I find the folks who reply to such posts with "u are such a loser" or something equally stupid. I know it's a good habit not to jump to any conclusions or to try to form strong opinions without substantial research, and I try to do so myself, and so I try to give CMX the benefit of doubt as I have only heard very little of their music. But I do have a hunch that they aren't exactly making my kind of music, and I have no intentions to probe further into what they have recorded. (The Talvikuningas-trailer made me feel physically ill). But still, I think it's OK to have expectations and preassumptions, negative or positive, afterall we are human, it's part of us.
  7. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I have nothing against Talvikuningas per se, it just appears to me as the latest artsy things everybody suddenly likes because the band has become so popular, while there are still loads of excellent games and albums and book and movies the masses don't dig... like Psychonauts.
  8. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

If anyone mentions Talvikuningas again in an everyday discussion I will commit bukkake. I mean, seppuku. I've been listening to lots of Tori Amos recently, Boys for Pele is a really interesting album. Other than that, lot's of classical. Ligeti, for example. BTW, I bought a metronome which had been used in a performance of this piece.
  9. Captain August is back

I hope year four will contain loads of stalking by the Beatnik and a horde of elephantoids! August has been online for approximately as long as I've been studying at this university, four years. Reading the first few strips reminded me of the incredible angst and indequacy I felt, especially when compared to the apparent excitement you felt when writing the comics and the accompanied rants. Sniff. Anyway, I think I'll have to send you the "Russian" edition some day as well. When I finally finish it.
  10. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

Meat Circus. Those bunnies are very, very scary creatures.
  11. Captain August is back

It will be interesting to return to the general search-for-the-bridge -story after all this whaling. How has it altered the whole style of the comic I ask? And I answer: I don't know!
  12. GAF to interview Schafer

I'm tempted to register there, and post Tim's F.A.Q. answer to that question to him.
  13. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

Did I really? Or did I say that the first time I played it, the first level was fun, but after that the campsite felt lame enough to make me stop playing. Notice I didn't say anything about the game becoming worse in the long term. On the contrary, my favorite levels are Gloria's Theatre (or whatever it was), Black Velvetopia, Milkman Conspiracy and Lungfishopolis. Which are indeed great. "Verifiably"?
  14. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

Hey, I love Psychonauts, too!I think they're just nutters.
  15. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

    BTW, why the general antagonism?
  16. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Do you remember Commander Keen? In, say, CK4 (I think it was CK4) there's a "game world" where you can enter different pyramids. And then there were the pyramids. In comparison, the pyramids of CK4 are the levels of Psychonauts. And the whatever (which I called game world) in CK4 is comparable to the campsite in Psychonauts. I never saw the campsite as a level you could finish. Sure, you can collect arrowheads and complete the scavenger hunt, but those are not things you must do.
  17. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

I think the levels were fun and cool. Thanks!
  18. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

Yeah, he is, but at that point I was just sort of... bewildered? I was suddenly given a whole chunk of a game without much exposition. I was disappointed with much of the dialogue and came to the conclusion that Psychonauts isn't as perfect as people are saying it is.
  19. Lotus Symphony

Wasn't Lotus hot in the late s?I had no idea somebody still used it.
  20. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

I'm not alone in thinking Psychonauts isn't perfect! Yay! I thought Coach's obstacle course was loads of fun, but after that the game felt like it sort of stalled. The time I accidentally fell into one of the stumps and was transported to Ford's lab, I was like "huh?", stopped playing and removed the warez from my PC. Only after I bought it was I motivated enough to actually play it beyond that point and discover its true excellence (Lungfishopolis was about the time). Although I have still a death tank and a few levels after that to play through. I hadn't thought of using clairvoyance on the kids. I hadn't thought of using clairvoyance at all, in fact... Must try! Though I got it later on in the game, I think, can't remember if it was before people started disappearing or not.
  21. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

I'm glad I haven't noticed any of those things (including stretched cutscenes), but I can understand how that can be troubling (although now that I think about it, sometimes audio is out of sync with the lip movements, but then again, the audio output rustles as well, but I think it's becuse of slight incompatibility issues with my MacBook). I remember how the rattling audio used to bug me in EMI whereas some people didn't hear it.
  22. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

I've been playing it for two months now, with a break that was probably one month long. But even if that is a long time, I don't mind.
  23. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

How is it possible to suck at1) running around, looking for purple objects and pressing F 2) running around with a rod, and pressing F in succession whenever the pitch of the whining sound is high enough? If sucking at it means not wanting to spend three hours running around, then I'd gladly suck at not finding arrowheads, as it's boring as hell. The collecting aspect of Psychonauts is a bit tedious, yes. Though I've noticed I've got used to it now, collecting a few hundred arrowheads isn't such a difficult task afterall, but it has taken me ages to rank up.
  24. Stuck in Psychonauts: Waterloo World

    It was 300 arrowheads.
  25. Death Proof Extended DVD Review

Would you care to tell why you thought it was shit, especially when compared to other exploitation films? Do you like Tarantino's work otherwise? Not trying to discredit you or anything, I'd just be interested to know why you thought that, as I found it quite fun. Whether or not it was a good exploitation film I don't know, as I haven't seen any. And I thought it was more like a parody film anyway.
