The racism thing sounds fantastic. If they manage to do something interesting with it, it'll be awesome to see that theme be tackled head-on in a video game, rather than through the more common alien/robot devices. Also, if the game will let me explore Columbia at least for a bit without having to fight, that'll be swell. I really hated the combat in the Bioshock games – both how it felt, and that there was so much of it – and I don't have any illusions about this being anything other than a first person shooter, but I'm hoping that they've made it at least feel better this time, and that it'll be paced more interestingly. The fact that they have GUI margins, FOV and framerate settings in already makes me think this will be a pretty good PC game right out of the gate.

I'm in. I mean, I've played it before, but I'd do it again if people were going to discuss it as we play. I think one a month is perfect, though that's because I never get around to doing things (I'm halfway through Cloud Atlas ...) and I understand people who'd find that a tad drawn-out.

Yeah, and apparently the quality isn't that great, either. It's 1080p, but from the screenshots I've seen, the bitrate seems pretty low. Also, I love that Norwegian consumer laws force them to offer a non-binding alternative, so i'll be able to sign up for one month, just to try it out. If it turns out they're offering a paid service that's inferior to piracy, I'll be TOTALLY FUCKING SHOCKED.

A while back I thought «hey, USA is so great, I bet they have great candy!» and I e-ordered a box of purportedly typical US-American candy, and I have come to the conclusion that it's all terribly, artificially flavoured tongue-scrapingly awful. So, either my candy box was badly curated, US-American candy is terrible, or there's just a vast candy-cultural gap that prevents me from enjoying your Jujyfruits and Milky Ways. If you live in the USA, tell me, what's your favourite candy?

I've logged in a couple of times since the update, and it honestly looks like they're camouflaging that jarring update from the server behind randomly disappearing blocks. Every time I start the app there's lots of completely random tapping – nobody working systemically or drawing cocks.

Their servers aren't even prepped for the current level of activity ...

That's assuming the dimensions of the cube are physically correct, and that the faces are actually diminishing in size for each layer – has this been confirmed?

With the latest update «you will get to see the cube shatter as other people tap away at it,» which I'm pretty sure means they're just removing blocks at random. Also, you can buy a one-off statistics listing for real actual money, which has to be some kind of first.

I haven't looked at the code, but yeah, if you're just doing that stuff in a code loop, it'll happen instantly. You only want to move the thing every few milliseconds. How that's done depends on whatever you're working with.

Regarding the sync thing, there should be a «no wait, let me choose the other thing instead» option. I can understand why they wouldn't want to keep multiple versions on the server, but they could do a temporary backup of the local files at least.
