  1. I d totally buy one to support the development of awesome adventure games, but you know…
  2. Magicka

I've played it only for a little bit, but I have to wonder if they shouldn't have cut down the number of elements for their first game. I mean, even with four elements there are tons of combinations, and with six there would be even more tons. It just seems unapproachable and unnecessarily hard-core.

I'm not the smartest knife in the block, but what was the unexpected thing about Predators?
  4. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

With the exception of the very last bit, that was just fantastic.

That sucks. Can you cover it up with a sticker, flag or banner?

  8. Saira

So they guy who made Knytt has made a new one, Saira. It's all the rage on Twitter, with people asking others to spread the word, etc. Someone also mentioned GOTY. So, I tried the demo, and want to ask some of you who I know love this: Do I have the general idea of the game after playing a couple of planets? It seems to me the platforming (jumping, climbing and the flying thing) is the main mechanic, and that the overarching structure is getting to parts strewn around each planet. It's really nice looking and the controls are smooth (although the UI controls are stupid... ESC, really?), but things are feeling a little empty. I'm running around in these tile-caves trying to find something interesting, but for some reason it seems the caves are supposed to be the interesting part. Does shit get mixed up in all sorts of awesome ways as I go, or is this one of those games where it's more of an experience, etc?
  9. Nintendo 3DS

I'm really confused. Isn't the 3DS being released with a new awesome Paper Mario game plus a remake of Ocarina of Time?
  10. Gemini Rue

It's pretty sweet, though I wish he'd do another Maniac Mansion.

What is this, amateur hour? If you knew the first thing about the sympathetic nervous system you would see that the electrodes are placed on the myoblastic rim of the superior tarsal muscle ("sulcus subtarsalis"), and would stimulate the ophthalmic artery, thus avoiding IIx (Ix) fatigue ("Müller's fatigue"). This is basic myotome embryology.
  12. Portal 2

This is my impression as well. Microsoft seems really strict about what you can do and what you have to do to publish on their platform. Doesn't every game, regardless of anything, have to have a leaderboard or some stupid thing? I might've made that up. Anyway, hasn't Ubisoft and EA gotten away with their own stuff on the Xbox, with the user logging on to their own services (Uplay, Fifa, etc.)?
  13. Night Sky

Is this Wii only, or is there a PC version too?
  14. V The Elder Scrolls

Looking good, but I always find myself wondering every time an RPG promises awesome social interactions and relations; you can make friends and enemies, maybe they'll come to avenge their brother at some later point, etc. It might be that I haven't played the right games, or that I'm doing it wrong, but I've never felt anything other than that NPC mechanics in RPGs (and all other genres) are really simple and clearly visible as a game variable, like when I befriend some clan or gang by doing quests for them or whatever. I'm not trying to be overly critical – I'm sure whatever they're doing is state of the art – but I'm wondering: has anyone ever experienced social relations or interactions in these kinds of games that seem properly deep or complex?
  15. The threat of Big Dog

I assume it would be terrible, and not by any means useful for anything, but I still think it might just work.
  16. Christmas Cards

I AM SORRY!!! It was on my list of things to do! Hopefully my picture will reveal more of its depth – it truly is a beauty!

Yeah. It would definitely be possible to do 3D this way, providing: the blinking doesn't trigger a focus change in the eye, and the blinking is fast enough and synchronized properly with the display I viewed it as a joke, though, and a good opportunity to put those electronic muscle things on your face. I've tried this myself, using a therapy machine thing my parents have, and put an electrode on each temple. It was horrible.
  19. The threat of Big Dog

Fake in what way? That he's not actually seeing 3D? I thought it was meant to be a joke, and that this was obvious ...
  20. Internet Comics

Tip to everyone: If you really want people to discover your sweet comics, please make links in your post. I can't speak for everyone, but web laziness prevents me from googling what I'm sure are awesome web comics.

I just got sexed through my brain into my soul by Gaspar Noé's Enter the Void. What a trip. Such an intense experience – it's like someone from the future found a film crew and lots of money and said "Okay, here's what we're gonna make." I imagine you have to be either filthy rich, extremely respected or totally crazy to be able to produce this sort of thing.
  22. This has been out on Steam for quite a while now, and if there's even a sliver of love for great, classic adventure games left in you, you should get it. Immediately I'm drawn back into the fantastic mood Revolution managed to set with their Broken Sword games however many years ago. The combination of art, ambient sound and music is fantastic, and I really hope this is successful enough to warrant more releases like this, maybe even some original content?

Just for the hell of it I decided to upgrade my BIOS. Turns out there had been like six releases after what I had, and I figured the risks were mininal, and the system would potentially be better. I download their BIOS update utility (the horrible-looking 90s faux metal jagged rounded-corners graphical user interface of which is inspiring no confidence whatsoever as to its ability to properly erase and rewrite the highly essential and critical bytes of code on my motherboard's flash chip,) click the "UPDATE FROM GIGABYGE INTrN@t srv´r" button (or it was something akin to that), it freezes for ten seconds, then gives me an error message telling me to please download from web site please. So I download from website please, and point the program to the file. It does its thing with the progress bar and then tells me to restart. I restart, and a horrible mistake of graphical design appears on my screen. Apparently one of the features they added was a new boot screen to cover up all the POST info. Anyway, on it goes, loading Windows and then BLUE SCREEN OH MY GOD WHY DID I EVEN UPDATE THE BIOS IT WAS WORKING FINE! NOW I HAVE TO REINSTALL EVERYTHING YOU FUCKING IDIOT! However, it turns out it was just that the update had reset my SATA controller to IDE mode, and everything was just fine after all. Hopefully there won't be any problems with

I can't recall saying I've ever played this. Has one of my lies come back to haunt me?
