PAPURIKA! This thread reminds me I have to check out some of the stuff you people recommend, because Paprika was so goddamn good.

I fail, but at least this illustrates another aspect of the card's awesomeness:

Okay, so a lady just stabbed me in the gut – understandably – because I hadn't produced the goods in time. The game rewound quite a ways back, and I'm wondering: Does this rewinding always provide me with a way to make things right, or could I still be irrevocably up shit creek with this particular playthrough? I realize this may be discussed further up the thread, but I'm loathe to peruse it on account of the fact that there might be spoilers.

I don't think idle banter counts toward your post count.

What exactly is your next project? Are you doing more proper adventure games, or is that sort of buried along with the balloon-headed Mexican?

Holy maloney, I didn't expect this at all. This old, clunky game, with its ultra low-res graphics, etc. is immersing me in the pants! Its immersiveness is unprecedented! I'm really there! The way people move about, awkwardly passing me in the cramped corridors, and the way you can hear all these conversations around tables and behind doors... jesus. I can't help but feeling my whole outlook on video games would have been vastly different had I played this back when it came out. I'm blown away in the most incredible of ways. And this is only after about ten minutes of playing.

Fine, whatever. I don't use them myself, but I've installed them for other other people and they work fine. -

There are adapters like these that lets you connect your router to a switch over the power lines. I've used these before with great success, but I'm not sure how high a bitrate you'd actually get. -

Just like every other kind of cable, you can get swindled like a bindle if you just walk into a store and buy some. I don't know how things are where you are, but you should be able to get 25m of cable with connectors for not many pesos or whatever if you know where to look. Also, a switch isn't super expensive either. You don't need anything fancy. -
What a terrible, terrible disappointment this game was, and what a waste of fantastic technology! The game loads up so fast, the quality of the assets and level of detail is astounding, the amount of work that went into everything is amazing, and then they make a mediocre game out of it. They could've made such an incredible game with what they had, and instead it's this weirdly paced thing where you spend half the time on the phone and running up and down stairs, and the other half on mostly terrible missions.

No, let the router and coaxial cable be where they are. Just put an ethernet cable from the router to wherever you need super fast internet. -

Instead of messing around with coaxial cable, just let the router be and put down some Cat 5 cable instead. If you're not using the coax anymore, use it to pull the Cat 5. -

Since you've tested the connection yourself and gotten 10Mb/s you should call the ISP and say "Hello, I'm only getting 10Mb/s on my speed test. Send a guy over and fix it, please." -
It almost never happens to me, but when it does, it's annoying. FML.

When I left the house this morning to catch the bus, halfway down the stairs I forgot if I remembered to lock the front door, so I chose to go back up the stairs and double-check. Turns out, I had locked the door, so I wasted about ten seconds.

Actually, it's much more likely they increased the maximum speed and not the bandwidth. -

I don't know. -

That last point is very important. To determine if it's the wifi or the internet connection, just hook up to the modem with a cable and test it that way. Try a bandwidth measuring site clowe to you (your ISP should have one) and see if you reach anything close to 50Mb/s. -
Boosting the fucking achievements.

So, I've played this for quite a bit, and I guess it's fun... but there's something missing. It's almost weird. Everything about this game is so advanced. The graphics and physics are unbelievable. And it's obvious the people behind Crysis are both extremely rich and highly competent. So, why is it that I'd rather play five minutes of any Half-Life game than one hour of Crysis? Why do I find myself exploring every corner and looking under every desk, finding myself totally immersed in Half-Life 2's arguably less realistic world, and still just pass by entire buildings in Crysis? I know every last bit of information about the Half-Life games, and could probably correctly recite the names of all the characters and the level structure of all of them, but there's only a handful of memorable events, all of them seemingly disconnected from each other, and I guess my character is called Nomad? I don't even care. The combat in Crysis is pretty advanced, with all the weapon modifications and suit powers, but I'd still rather walk down a zombie-filled corridor with my SPAS-12 than run through the lush jungles of whatever the island I'm on in Crysis is called with whatever the gun that's only useful if you hit the koreans right in the head is called. Does anyone else feel like there's something missing from Crysis? Or that there's just too much stuff, and not enough focus or something? I dunno. When I think about it, I see Crytek as this team of highly skilled programmers and mathematicians, maybe more interested in showing off what their engine can do, whereas Valve has a greater focus on the player experience, tuning every detail of their game to a different kind of perfection, maybe.

What is this, the 1950s over here?
