As a kid I dreamed that I could someday give my dad something like that if technology would advance fast enough.

I took a few days off this week due to my birthday and played through episodes 2. 3 and 4 in a few sittings. I played the first episode last week. My episodes ranking are very clearly this: 3,1,4,2. To me the third episode was a real emotional roller coaster with constant surprises around the corner, I was cursing Vanaman's name out loud in my apartment and my dog thought I had lost my mind. The episode was so brilliantly written that I was almost in tears here. Episode 2 was the weakest, too many weird plot decisions and characters that were some unfitting to the whole big picture. Then about the 3rd one: This game seriously deserves another playthrough after I've completed the first time when episode 5 comes out. So many things I want to see and try out, there are ton of dialogue possibilities that I have missed out on and

I'd suggest to not buy Amazon's Android devices. The OS is really heavily customized and locked down walled garden style. I seem to remember that you can't even get Google's own apps in those Kindle Fire devices and those apps are the best for Androids! Also there is no Play Store, just the Amazon app store. With rooting the Kindle Fire it may be possible to install the Play store apk, but I'm not sure. If you are going for a tablet, best tablet at the moment is seriously Nexus 7. 32GB models are just now coming out. I just wish Google would open the Nexus store in all countries, it makes me really angry to read that Google is selling the new phone Nexus 4 16GB for 350 dollars in USA n the Google Nexus store, but in Finland LG, the operators and brick&mortar shops are ripping off 600 euros for the 8GB model! It's really insane, like they don't even want to sell the phone! AB: Star Wars came out yesterday, it's weird that even that it kind of bastardizes the whole Star Wars thing, it still looks like to be the best AB game that Rovio has made so far.

At work we still use XP, but by April 2014, we will all have Windows 7. At home I use Win7 and I don't see that changing in a long time.

I played the DS version some years ago. It wasn't that great. Also I played countless hours Giana sisters on Amiga back when i was a kid. This new version I was following quite closely for a while, but forgot to pledge in the Kickstarter. I'll most likely buy it at some point. I just love Chris Hülsbeck musics.

Haha, didn't notice that somebody already changed the Icarus thread's name yesterday/today.
-
Can this and the Chris Remo's Icarus be combined and the name somehow changed so that it still has Remo and Icarus and also Bioshock Infinite mentioned? I finally got the stupid GFWL working and I have bought Minerva's Den so before Infinite comes out, I'll replay Bioshock 1 and play Minerva's Den just to get to the right mood.

Tom Hall and Brenda Brathwaite kicking old school rpg
Kolzig replied to elmuerte's topic in Video Gaming
They went into this project way too lightly. No real decisions about the game were made before they started the campaign in Kickstarter so this was a sure way to miss the pledge. Also a million dollars as the budget goal is crazy talk especially from a company that only has produced fucking Facebook games so far. Their other game, unsurprisingly again a Facebook game was just cancelled and they fired bunch of people because funding was cut for that project. I did give them the money for a digital version, just because I wanted to see Tom Hall make a real game again after all this Facebook bullshit he has cooked up with John Romero. I don't care about Brenda Romero being behind the game. I didn't play Wizardry 8, the only game she ever was a lead designer in and seems Jagged Alliance credits her for doing part of the game manual so that's not much. I just wish in the future there would be a time when Tom Hall and John Romero would make a REAL game again. They just need someone to control them, especially Romero needs someone to limit him in what he can do in a project. In this "Shaker" Romero was not actively involved except just as a CEO of the company. But it is interesting that after 3-4 days I almost thought they would get it funded. It got all the money during the first few days and after that in the next ten or so days maybe 500 dollars and then they pulled the plug. Anachronox 2 would be something amazing, if the dev team would be something else than Facebook social game devs. -
Here's are couple of pics from our trip to Lapland a few weeks ago. Taken by my wife with Canon Powershot G11. I can't take pictures so she has the credit for these. I'm the guy in the 3rd picture, I just like the edge of the world feeling in that picture.

Yeah I'm sure the console HD ports work better when you have two analog sticks. This kind of game just seems like it needs two.

I had Gold account for a month and noticed I don't really need it at this point unless it can be got for free through some deal. I wouldn't pay for it. Also it is completely insane that you need to pay to Microsoft to use Netflix because you need to pay Netflix also. So you are paying double what you are paying when using any other Netflix compatible device.

That's true, but I share the views of Merus that if Nintendo would stop making consoles, they would lock their licenses forever because I don't think they would ever want to see something like Mario or Zelda on non-Nintendo console (it only happened once in the past with the CD-i and we remember the end result of that weird experiment). Nintendo is not the same as Sammy owned Sega. Nintendo has so far been in many generations the most successful of all the console hardware companies so money isn't exactly running out in their bank account. Problem is that all Japanese technology companies have lost insane amounts of money due to the market situation aka "bank crisis" and that yen has been way too strong for a few years now. Many companies like Sharp and Sony had to lay out over 10000 workers quite recently and there are doubts will some companies even survive in the long run, because investors are still putting a lot of money on yen for some reason so it's keeping it's too high value and almost rising all the time especially compared to the weakening euro and dollar. It really is extremely disturbing to me that yen used to be 170 compared to one euro 4 years ago. Now it's 100 yen compared to euro. It's really expensive to buy stuff in Japan for a European and American customer, also it costs a lot for Japanese companies to export their goods to be sold. Every summer I see that things aren't what they used to be. Of course difference is caused also because Euro had artificially higher value than it should have had because countries and banks cheated in their financial reports for many years. I did not hear at any point in Western media that Nintendo had laid off anybody, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did at some point because also Nintendo has suffered heavy losses because of strong yen = difficult to sell abroad and 3DS price drop. Nintendo has incredible amount of talent in their Kyoto and Tokyo teams and of course many people would have to shift to another companies like Capcom or Namco to work if Nintendo were to some day fold and pack up their business and just continue making hanafuda and poker playing cards. Miyamoto is probably still few years from retirement so I think he will give his input a lot on Wii U and also on the next generation perhaps. Then after that it would be logical for him to retire and give the new guys a the lead. They do make some weird decisions that seems really stupid, like friend codes. Also I have hoped that Nintendo would correct their 3DS mistake and make the hand consoles region free with 3DS XL for example, but no they didn't. Both Microsoft and Nintendo should learn from Sony and make also their main console region free. It's really annoys in this day and age that the hardware devs still put artificial stupid locks to stop people all around the world to enjoy their games. Same can be said about PC releases as well with their 3-4 day difference these days in release with many games between US and Europe. But I blame Nintendo of Europe and other European companies for that region lock. Nobody would buy games from Europe because the games get slower here than in USA due to translation to various languages and also everything costs more here than when you order stuff from Canada or USA like I did with DS games.

I pledged my share for this the first moment I heard about it and saw the videos and interviews. Roberts is back, hell yes. Wing Commander series and Strike Commander were awesome games, I never really got to play Freelancer. I don't exactly have a computer to run this with all the eye candy turned on, but in a few years I will surely have so bring it on Chris.
-
I would probably get a Wii U, but not in a long time. The Finnish prices are absolutely going to be insane just like European prices in general are. The US price for this seems fine. It's just fucking insane that it will cost something around 400 euros here. US price is 233 euros

How many games do you own that you have never actually played?
Kolzig replied to baekgom84's topic in Video Gaming
I have too many that I'm depressed to even think about it. Not just Steam and GoG games, but physical copies of games also. -
Oh yes, that was cool move from Mike &Simon Woodroffe and the gang to do the inventory joke like that. Also the way Tim's team handled Grim Fandango inventory was really excellent. for these.

They will again greenlight some stuff at the end of this month. I really don't get Steam Greenlight.

Retro City Rampage: A love letter to 80's gaming.
Kolzig replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
How long would you say that it took for you to play through the game? -
Bunch of the devs left the company fairly recently so it's quite interesting to see what is going on with this. Infinite has been a long project, but I wonder will the end product be alright.

There are some really awesome recepies in this thread. I have to mark these down. As a side note I suck in cooking, I can only do the really simple food stuff that a student would've eaten if has no money. Also there are too many fucking cooking shows on the Finnish tv channels.

Clint Hocking works at Valve now so I very much like to think that after he was hired by Gabe, this is exactly the route for Half Life 2:Episode 3 / Half Life 3. Of course now that I'm reading the thread further, you guys already talked about this. But yeah, there are so many incredibly talented guys at Valve working right now that I'm sure in the end the continuation to Half Life will be awesome, if they make it single player game. I will have to go on crusade around the world to beat up Gabe if he makes this an online game only. This reminds me that Gordon Freeman is actually Dr. Sam Beckett. They should get Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell as voice actors in HL3.

I am not happy that they are making sequel to BASS. That story is perfectly told in one game and it had awesome voice actors and art and basically everything. Also I do keep Revolution in high value as these guys made Lure of the Temptress and BASS original and cd version free all those years ago and supported ScummVM. I did back Broken Sword 5, but I don't like the art style of the characters so far, look far worse than even in the old games to me. The background artists however deserve a thumbs up, really nice work so far. BS4 was horrible and I didn't even finish the demo of it because I lost interest in it, I remember the game being mostly outsourced anyway and that already gave hints that the production would be not that great. BS3 was Charles Cecil's masterwork with his "2D adventures are dead" talks in the press continuously even though the game was in the end a mediocre story with crate puzzles. So yeah, I gave Charles & the gang money for BS5, but I am trying to not get my hopes up too much. Their recent track record is not that great, but I am happy that even though they fired most of their people a few years ago, they did not close shop and are coming back now. My chosen game from their Kickstarter GoG reward will be In Cold Blood. I've never played that game and I have BS1-BS3 already in GoG. The fourth game I'll just try to forget that it even exists. How is the Director's Cut to Broken Sword 2 by the way, that is included in the GoG release, but I haven't had time to play it. The first DC I did complete and I felt it really didn't add anything important to the game and could've been just left out and released as the original was. That's why I like the GoG release as it does include the original version also.

Still haven't bought it, but won't buy it in XBLA in any case. I'll go for the PC Steam version when I have time. It's really great that they got the PC version released surprisingly quickly after the first XBLA release.

At least the console collector's edition is coming out in early December so I would think the fifth downloadable episode will come out in this month. Such a shame that if Telltale is making their own version again of the Walking Dead dvd set, I can't get it the same way just for the price of shipping as I got the previous games now that I got this from Steam.
