As appealing as that idea is in the abstract, it would only work if we played enough games in a week to fill a weekly video game podcast, and that is unlikely to happen. I think it'd end up being a recipe for a disappointing show (and we'd be producing two shows a week that way, which would be a little intense, since this is none of our actual jobs!).

you've been well served for years, let's be honest here.

Idle Thumbs 297: Patent Pending It's rainy, it's cold, and you have nothing to do, or maybe too much. Discussed: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park: The Lost World, Jurassic Park III, Star Wars, Star Wars: A New Hope, The Witness, Tales of Monkey Island, clowns Listen on the Episode Page Listen on Soundcloud Listen in iTunes

I think there was actually a GDC talk about it. I haven't seen it but I've seen it cited: http://gdcvault.com/play/1305/Everything-I-Learned-About-Level

Dinosaur kicking acrobatics was my only real memory from that movie as a kid - and I remember it being some terrible garbage thing - but nah, it is totally a nothing scene. Lost World is flat and bad though. I will never be convinced that it's remotely on the same level as Jurassic Park I'm sorry to say. (To be honest I stopped reading the AV Club article at the headline because I literally just watched the two movies back to back a few days ago and the answer to that headline is "no, definitively.")

The end was better than I expected but still D:

Idle Thumbs 295: Good... Bye Let's cast out 2016 and make room for whatever it is that's coming next. Join us as we look deep, deep into the future and... actually never mind that, Nick's just fired up Diablo 1 and managed to connect to the late '90s version of Battle.net. See you all next year! Discussed: Diablo, Diablo 2, Diablo 3, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 3, Time Commanders, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard Listen on the Episode Page Listen on Soundcloud Listen in iTunes

True. But in the brutal year of 2016 we have no jobs, no hope, and no cash.

I'll just throw out there that I would much prefer to get drunk at whitechapel than pagan idol but I am maybe an outlier who doesn't really like the drink menu at pagan idol that much. (Also whitechapel serves food!) I will go wherever the readers go, though.

He was probably the Smart replay/help avatar. Apparently one of the Donkey King games also has this. (This surely all ties together through Mario's role in Donkey King Jr) -
I don't think we would need a reservation for whitechapel if it was a weeknight and a few people got there early to claim space.

Idle Thumbs 292: Sit In A Row And Look At The Wall This week we take your questions, line them up, and knock them down. Yes, it's mailbag week! After Nick takes a wager in Dark Souls that will change his life forever (and Chris digs a hole in the ground) we go deep into the Idle Thumbs Reader Mail inbox. Discussed: Dark Souls, Planet Coaster, The difference between game genres and genres in other mediums, The Secret of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, The Stanley Parable, Friends you only connect with inside video games, StarCraft II, ICQ, "Low fidelity" game development, "Millionaire caves," Wizard Jam, Gomix, Many unsolicited promotional offers, The septic tank that is the underbelly of the Internet, Video Games Listen on the Episode Page Listen on Soundcloud Listen in iTunes -
Yeah I don't think they ever get into it. I had forgotten the details of the opening crawl in Star Wars even, and after rewatching it last weekend was surprised to read that it says the rebellion had just won it's it's major battle against the empire and in the process managed to get the plans. That's what comes out of the screen in Rogue One (for me it happens unsatosfyingly, but it does meet the literal requirements of the opening of SW).

Crazy!

He totally killed the guy out of self preservation. He does the same thing later - shoots one on his own side - to save Jyn. It's a character trait I wish mattered more on screen, but in the movie as presented it felt like a rough sketch that never got filled in.

It's too bad Miyamoto has fallen for Mario's propaganda and brainwashing. Any evidence that this is a false flag? -
Idle Thumbs 294: Pan Pan Pan As the year draws to a close, things get a little out of hand. What starts as a discussion of Super Mario Run quickly gets away from us and leads us deep into the worlds of sound editing disasters, mascot shoplifting, the history of gaming retail chains, and how to tell when a store might be laundering food stamps. Discussed: Super Mario Run, MARIO, Super Mario, Bay-Mission Market, Portal, The Mummy Listen on the Episode Page Listen on Soundcloud Listen in iTunes

Yess I hated this book in high school. This is a great excuse to read it again now that by brain is very different than it was when I was 15.

That little mechanical door puzzle was actually too dumb.

The wave receiver in the research site is the thing that wasn't supposed to fit ibo Ned's plans - he wasn't aware of it or that you had it. He had a bug out bag hidden near the trailhead out of the two forks region in case he had to make a run for it, and it had the ability to transmit an alarm signal back to his base (which is how the receiver picks it up). He didn't think Henry would walk right into it. (The way the wave receiver is found is not ideal and is really ambiguous whether Ned meant for you to find it or if it was there and unrelated. I put that sequence together, sorry.)
