  1. Game Engine Black Book - Wolfenstein 3D

Hey all, I just got into this one, and it's really nerdy and great so far. It's got lots of math and diagrams about trig and stuff. Also includes screenshots and breakdowns of moving bits of memory around, how the CPUs worked at the time, etc. Like I said, super nerdy hah. I know I am going to end up writing another ray casting renderer because of this book. As luck would have it, Amazon botched my delivery and sent two copies, and says I don't need to return the second one. So, does anyone want the other copy (just pay shipping)? Not sure if this should be posted in a side thread or other forum, so feel free to suggest I move this part somewhere else if that's appropriate. Cheers
  2. [Released!] Get Hoisted

Update: The game is out now! https://whilefun.itch.io/get-hoisted (Original post below for posterity) Friends, it's time for some service. It's time to... (I cannot express the level of excitement I am feeling for this game) Edit Update: January 7, 2018 Back at it. Giving myself a deadline of "about 2 weeks" to get this finished up. Excited to back at it!
  3. [Released] Beppo's Hole (in one golf)

***Update: You can now play the game right here: https://whilefun.itch.io/beppos-hole-in-one-golf I had to start on my game earlier than anticipated, as the new year is going to be a bit hectic, schedule-wise. I've landed on a stroke play style golf game, which I've been wanting to make for ages. Named for Idle Thumbs episode 185: Beppo's Hole. I present: Just a mocked up title screen for now, and I have some prototype golf gameplay from the last few days of work. This intro screen might look familiar to DOS golf game fans The goal of the game is to have mouse-only controls for a fully functional top-down golf game. I hope to have at least 9 holes ready for the jam deadline. Was also thinking of titles such as "Super Expert Pro Championship Golf", "The 90s Were Great, Okay", "Into the Woods", or possibly others. But this will do
  4. Important If True 45: Wax House, Baby

This is a very exciting prospect indeed
  5. Important If True 45: Wax House, Baby

So I heard back from CineAction! magazine. The bad news (but also sort of good news*) is that Issue 68 is no longer in print, and they have none in the warehouse (or some guys attic or whatever for all I know). BUT, they did send me a giaaant thread of emails with text, images, and pdfs of each set of pages. I present to you all, Page 8 of CineAction! Magazine, Issue 68: Sadly, no interview with Joel Silver. I also did a full search on all the text in the email thread for keywords (silver, wax, house, and baby) and found no matches. (*the sort of good news here is that the mystery remains somewhat alive. I presume the scans I got are authentic, but without an original printed hard copy, I can't be 100% sure that the content is reliable...but it probably is. Maybe the gentlemen from CineAction! is in on the gag)
  6. Important If True 45: Wax House, Baby

*a couple of years later...* So I've been in touch with the good folks at CineAction magazine here in Canada. I am hoping to get my hands on a back order copy of CineAction Issue 68, and will share anything I can here, for posterity. I was re-listening to this episode a couple weeks ago, and I was bored, and it costs $7 CAD with free shipping so I could not resist.
  7. [Full Release] Farewell, Video Games

    Very nice. Thanks for sharing
  8. [Release] Do You Believe in Dot Gobbler?

This was a really fun game!
  9. This game is so chaotic and insane. Well done.
  10. [Full Release] Farewell, Video Games

Worth the wait, it was a lot of fun Brings back fond memories of 90s shareware dos platformers like keen and duke nukem, hocus pocus, and bio menace.
  11. [Dev Log] The Wizard

This was so good and fun! Such a satisfying super-thumbsey wizard jam entry
  12. [Released] Beppo's Hole (in one golf)

No problem. May need to tweak them depending on your RAM timings. I got my computer from the back room of a radio shack, so I can't say how mainstream the components are, really. autoexec.bat config.sys
  13. [Released] Beppo's Hole (in one golf)

I made a game box I tried to channel the hyperbole of the era for the copy.
  14. This game is shaping up. So much delightful UI happening. Looking forward to playing this
  15. [Full Release] Farewell, Video Games

    Very good.
  16. [RELEASED] What Remains of Idle Thumbs

I feel like that blue cup should be branded by Ultra Boost or something
  17. [Released] Beppo's Hole (in one golf)

Definitely on the short list! Thanks for the suggestion. Updated in v1.0.4!
  18. [Released] Beppo's Hole (in one golf)

@Henke *cough* (the two rounds prior were a 42 and 49, so I mean, I'm not THAT good)
  19. [Release] Live from the Past

    strong
  20. [Dev Log] The Spectacle Was Incredible

    That sub is GREAT
  21. [Released] Beppo's Hole (in one golf)

Yeah it's a weird one that the default is region-specific. I don't get why anyone would ever want that as the default. Seems like an odd design choice by microsoft or whoever :\
  22. [Released] Beppo's Hole (in one golf)

    *tasteful and reserved golf clap*
  23. [Released] Beppo's Hole (in one golf)

@atte @Henke FYI v1.0.3 has been released, and contains fixes for better keyboard controls (arrows + WASD), and minimum putter strength for those tiny very close shots
  24. [Released] Beppo's Hole (in one golf)

Thanks for playing! Added W+D aiming to feature backlog and already have some cool camera panning in the works, too. Great feedback, thanks
