    The Octopus Affair: an Eyes Of game

    Concept

    You are the first super-intelligent octopus. 

     

    Structure

    FPO (First Person Octopus)

    Progress

    Justin has built a generic interaction system for objects in our game. It is awesome and I am excited to add props ASAP. He built the whole thing in two hours while watching Netflix.

     

    Caleb has built a whole aquarium simulation with fish of different sizes and positions on the food chain. This is the coolest thing in our game so far :D VmWZqbn.gif

     

    I have begun building the Octopus controller. The octopus currently walks laterally and swimshjGgoAK.gif

    What I'm doing: 

    Voice Acting with friends

    I got a bunch of family and friends to do the VO for my last WJ game, The Eyes of Cheatin Hitman (links below). Pro Tip - VO makes for an awesome party night! My friends have been asking when we can record more VO for a game, so send us a script with a little background on the characters and we'll send you some audio files!

    I have at least four actors queued up who can probably do multiple characters each.

    yo! It has finally been announced by Flippfly lol. Not in any detail with art or a name, but the fact that we're collaborating on a copter game :)

    I recently added a fire propagation system and restructured our play space down to a smaller island. I think we'll be looking for testers soon, so keep a watch on this thread

I was gonna just let those happen but maybe it makes sense for me to just declare that I'm doing Tonga Room on Tuesday.

    Out of town people, what makes the most sense for your trip? (Selfishly putting a priority on the schedules for people who are coming a long way to connect)

    We can do an evening gathering, we can do a breakfast, a lunch, a late lunch. This doesn't have to be quite as gin-fueled as it was last year lol.

     

    Also, I saw @Dinosaursssssss post that he's hoping to hit some tiki bars this time around, right? 

     

    So far, I am totally free:

    Sun March 18 - all day

    Monday - breakfast, lunch

    Tuesday - breakfast, evening

    Wednesday - breakfast, lunch, evening

     

    I think I'm flying home Thursday, but I haven't purchased my final ticket.

    I'm booking my GDC travel plans and thought I'd start a meetup thread. The Saturday meetup last year was one of the highlights of my trip (until the gin snuck up on me and I slurred my greeting to Jake). 

     

    Anyone interested in getting together again? I might not be around through the Saturday after GDC, so I would prefer to get together during the week if possible :)

    I'm starting to get deep into ARMA3 helicopters. lol I registered for something called ARMA Flight School to learn how to fly better https://armafs.enjin.com/

     

    Does anyone else here play ARMA or want to start? I have a couple friends who are going to try out helicopters with me, but it would be fun to get a few more for co-op missions :)

     

    The scale of their battlefield simulation is unlike anything I have ever seen - it's a thrilling game of systems :D
