  1. [Release] Dead Letters

This game is phenomenal. I used to play the hell out of typing games like this in the basement of my catholic middle school. I would have loved one with an absurd gun sound. Great gameplay, great visual design, great contrast between the gun and the calming AV tone.
  2. [v2 - The Dab Update] The Eyes of Cheatin Hitman

thanks so much for the feedback I'm disappointed in myself for not having dramatically improved the item interactions in my FP games yet - it's something I'm working on for patch #1. Also, I think I will still have limited-to-zero puzzles, but I am hoping to patch in more performative item interaction (I think this will match the tone of my game better).
  3. [v2 - The Dab Update] The Eyes of Cheatin Hitman

I might make it "The Dab Update"
  4. [v2 - The Dab Update] The Eyes of Cheatin Hitman

These things are all over the Hall of Fame now. Get pumped for Patch 1!*!*!*!*!*!*! I need a name for it. I like the way Blendo does his updates "The Horse Update" or whatever the first one was, lol. I'm thinking of doing something like that
  5. [v2 - The Dab Update] The Eyes of Cheatin Hitman

That is my own personal favorite celebration dance - it's supposed to be strapping into an anti-aircraft gun and then peppering the sky lol Hence, "AAA" the clowns all randomize, so that you happened to find the combo of magician suit and squishy lips face to pair with an interesting dialog line makes me pretty happy - when I test the game I don't even see the costume/face combinations anymore. I was so excited when Steven first sent over the faces, though, so I'm really happy they make an impression to new players! Do you remember any of his story? I'd like to compliment the voice actor who played him!
  6. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Had to get this out before bed. Is Clint Hocking making the next Splinter Cell?
  7. The Huge Armored Core Playthrough

I'm so happy you're doing this. AC is one of my favorite series, and definitely the one I'm most nostalgic for. Something about selecting your own targeting radar and radiator subsystems screams "video games!" in the most Y2K way possible. When I look back on these games I wonder how all gaming didnt become about mechs
  8. The Huge Armored Core Playthrough

My friend and I played this game in vs. for a whole year of all-night sleep-overs. When I think of "video games" this is exactly what my brain wants to play.
  9. GDC 2017 Meetup (Update: 2018 info within!!)

Interesting! well I'll be trying to book a place today.
  10. Switching Careers

I've been an aerospace engineer for the eight years since I graduated. I've been picking away at learning Unity and game development for a few years. I finally quit my full-time aerospace job and dropped to part-time consulting, and my wife and I agree that I need to take my shot at developing games right now - while we're still young and we don't have kids. We live in Madison, WI and we want to stay here, which means I need to find a team or contracting specialty that will allow me to work remotely. I'll be attending Train Jam and GDC and I'd like to make sure I use my time meeting the right people and teams. I know there are some developers in this crowd, so I'm wondering if you all have any tips
  11. Switching Careers

You're right, that's the part I'm most interested in. I need to find a way to make contacts with some potential teammates. Thanks for the kind words, too
  12. GDC 2017 Meetup (Update: 2018 info within!!)

It looks like I won't be able to stay very close to the conference center, so in terms of price I have similar options in SF around Excelsior and Balboa Park and then across the bridge in Oakland. Anything I need to know about those areas before picking a place?
  13. Switching Careers

I don't have the cash to go solo for very long, and I also don't know that I have all of the art skills I'd need to make a commercially viable game by myself. My ideal situation would be joining a small team who already have something in the works. My dream is to make first-person narratives, lol if that wasn't apparent by the games I submit. I'm starting to reach out to 1-10 person teams who have made games I enjoy to see if they need any help part-time or full-time. My portfolio is thin, because I'm just now taking this career more seriously than a distant dream. I'm hoping I reach out to enough of them digitally that by GDC at least a couple are willing to meet me in person. I waiver between incredibly optimistic and terrified.
  14. [v2 - The Dab Update] The Eyes of Cheatin Hitman

    1. you're right! I need to add a randomization to the point in the animations where each clown starts. it's awful when they're in sync 2. Absolutely on the clown art! right now I'm duplicating the couple pieces I have and putting filters over them. Any new art will get used
  15. [v2 - The Dab Update] The Eyes of Cheatin Hitman

Patch Time With the first push of Episode 2, I'm ready to work on a patch to improve some of it. I'd like to add more interaction, but eyes of cheatin hitman won't turn into a mechanical game like the actual Hitman series. I'd like to play with interaction that is more performative. Ex. the only interactive props right now are a fishing pole and an axe. The player can use the fishing pole to pull credits out of the water in my interactive credits sequence. The player cannot swing the axe, but when she clicks 47 will move the axe into different static positions. I see The Eyes of Cheatin Hitman closer to an interactive play than a mechanical game; I'd like to add more performative first-person animations like juggling, eating, or balloon art. Other considerations for this patch: 0. Pause cinematics when Esc is hit 0.1 Add cinematic skipping (mostly for development purposes) 0.2 Initialize clown animations at non-zero location 1. Full credits sequence - necessary 2. Better jump cuts - needs research and brainstorming 3. Hall of Fame statue/painting annotations 4. Add in extra audio that I didn't have time to edit originally 5. A dot gobbler 6. A digital art book (like quadrilateral cowboy) - this is a long shot, but boy would it be fun 7. Clean up the briefing sequence
  16. GDC 2017 Meetup (Update: 2018 info within!!)

I need to book myself a room for GDC. I'll be in town for about a week, but I don't know anything about San Francisco. I will probably be staying at an Airbnb and I won't have a car. Any tips on what part of the city to stay?
  17. Train Jam 2017

I'm headed to Train Jam 2017 Anyone else? Any tips?
  18. Train Jam 2017

Cool, I'll pack a bag of snacks. 2 days of granola bars is probably pretty close to my limit.
  19. Train Jam 2017

Coach - I'll be super tired... I can't wait, though I'm really excited to meet people and make some games!

Ben and @kevin888 are saving me! lol, Thanks, you two. The pieces look fantastic in the Hall of Fame
  22. [v2 - The Dab Update] The Eyes of Cheatin Hitman

!!! HELP REQUEST !!! Our hall of fame is full of neat statues, but we have no 2D artwork - just a bunch of the same Bozo face that we originally stubbed in from the internet. If there are any bored 2D artists out there, I could use simple drawings/paintings that fit the theme "Famous Moments in Clowning History" to hang on the walls Send me a DM, find me in Slack, or [email protected]. Thanks in advance, but no that I'm not expecting much
  23. [v2 - The Dab Update] The Eyes of Cheatin Hitman

Hall of Fame is populated with statues of famous clowns. This one is my favorite
