  1. Recently completed video games

I just finished playing Remember Me. A fairly mediocre experience throughout, though the highlights include the setting, music, and remix sequences, when they decide to finally show up. I was disappointed to find you only ever do the whole remixing thing four times in the whole game, and two of them involve the same memory being altered. The combat and map traversal were pretty awful, though the interesting-looking environments helped a bit to overcome how narrow and uninteresting the layout of the maps always were. Combat falls into that pitfall that most games have by rationing out special moves and abilities slowly over the course of the game (special moves are given to you at specific combat sequences throughout the game, making it a completely inorganic experience that doesn't at all match what the character is experiencing). I prefer games that present all or at least most of your abilities to you at the beginning, and you as a player develops the skills to use them effectively, rather than locking things off. Anyway, I must have liked it somewhat, since I played it through to the end, although it is a rather short game. Fewer uninteresting combat sequences and more memory remixes would definitely push this game into more favourable territory for me.

Hey all, bout to jump on and stream some Overwatch. I'm not great at the game by all means but maybe if any of you are on the fence about it, you can come check out the stream and ask me questions about the game =)
  3. Use your shield aaaaaall the time. Get in close and shoot and don't stop shooting never stop shooting you don't need to reload so why did you stop shooting shoot aaaaall the time. Except when you're using your shield you can't shoot while you're shielding (technically your shield is you shooting a lot). Don't forget your boost ability can be used vertically, and naturally it pairs well with your ulti. But seriously your shield is such on a low cooldown, you should use it as much as possible.
  4. The currency system in this game is almost identical to Hearthstone. In game gold is basically dust, but since you can't turn things into gold, loot boxes will occasionally include gold. The "legendary" amount of gold you get is 500, so two will get you any legendary skin you want; just like how in Hearthstone, dusting two legends will net you a legend of your choice. Not a fan of how it works in Hearthstone, and not a fan of how it works here, but at least you don't need the contents of a loot box to play, unlike in Hearthstone, where you need to earn cards to actually play the game. edit: I'm a dummy, you need to disenchant 4 legendaries to get you a new legendary card.
  5. Chris has repeatedly said that there are 15 characters in Overwatch, but there are actually 21. Also he didn't mention the best part of the Overwatch end-game card screen: you can commend people on either team! Commending does nothing except make people feel good, and if a single person gets 5 commendations, it starts glowing and a voice yells out, "EPIC!" soooo get on those commendations you guys.
  6. It really is a case of buying the game on the platform that your friends are on, since it's an entirely multiplayer experience. I had between 10-15 friends on PC playing yesterday, and I knew a few more people through my local Smash Bros community who all play on PC.
  7. Woohooo! Eventually managed to reverse off the roof but I thought I was gonna be stuck like this forever. Cool game!
  8. Idle Streaming Community: Twitchy, Tasty

Hey this thread has been inactive for a little while. Just a heads up that in about 20 minutes I'll be streaming some StarCraft 2! Stream is in the OP but here it is anyway: https://www.twitch.tv/superhiero
  9. I think the middle level IS EV training. It's honestly quite intuitive: fight a high attack pokemon, increase your attack; fight a fast pokemon, increase your speed. The 3DS games now show the spread of the EVs of each of your Pokemon off the bat (although they still don't show exact numbers, grr) and have that extra minigame for EVs as well. Moreover, your Pokemon will gain EVs from battling anyway, just not necessarily in the spread you want, but more EVs is better than no EVs. The crux of this is essentially, make sure you actually use your Pokemon before an important fight rather than use a freshly caught one, because that fresh Pokemon will have no EVs whatsoever and thus not be as strong as it could be, even if it were higher level. And this stuff isn't something that you NEED to consult online, talking to NPCs (like literally every other RPG) will elucidate some of these mechanics and that's really all you need to go on with for the single-player.
  10. I think it's officially "Escort" but everyone calls it Payload anyway because it's more familiar. I prefer the term Escort because it's more informative to a person who never played TF2.
  11. O hey I loved this game when I could get a decent group going, but that was really only about one in every five games for me, so eventually I just uninstalled it. I wouldn't mind reinstalling if a handful more people on here perk up at the idea. Maybe get on the slack chat to get a group going?
  12. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I beat Dark Souls last night! Last boss was a bit of a pushover because I cheated and looked up how to ensure I could summon my NPC bro for the fight. I really enjoyed the boss fights in the DLC a lot, very varied and interesting enemies packed into a neat little bundle. I actually missed a few storylines the first time so I think I'll eventually do a NG+, but definitely going to take a bit of a break from it after playing through most of the game in the past two weeks.
  13. Overwatch already has a custom game mode where you can change parameters like game mode/map all the way to weird things like change the HP of characters or respawn time. http://overwatch.wikia.com/wiki/Custom_Game I guess you're thinking more along the lines of servers with specific rules that private server owners can manage, but yeah I guess that isn't happening.
  14. They've committed to new free characters and maps at some point down the line. They also plan to have game mode like Tavern Brawl in Hearthstone that updates itself to have weird rules every week.
  15. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I'm referring to It was a very different fight, and I'm glad I persisted and didn't look up guides on how to beat it. Looking back on it, each of the had something rather different to it and I approached them very differently to how I've approached every other boss, which I kinda just tackled the same way. I highly enjoyed the variety that the game threw at me nearing its end. I believe I now have only the DLC and the final zone to go through.
  16. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I was heavily procrastinating yesterday (I know it's the weekend but I needed to work on a paper), and somehow managed to beat 5 bosses in one day in a matter of a few hours. Why are there so many bosses thrown at you in such a short space in the Demon Ruins? One of those bosses I beat was the boss of the Catacombs, however, which I now realise was relatively easy because it was possible that the player might find it early on in the game. I somehow didn't find the link between Catacombs and the zone it leads into, which is why I just warped out and explored the Demon Ruins instead. I killed the three bosses there with relative ease, and found myself in the next zone, and highly enjoyed the boss fight there! I went online and found out that everybody despises it. Sorry I don't know how to do spoiler stuff on this forum, I think just mentioning names of places is fine, but I don't want to name bosses, because that's more heavy into spoiler territory.
  17. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

It didn't happen to me but you're not the only one, I saw a thread about it on reddit the other day. Nothing in the way of solutions though, other than maybe try playing with the classic controller if you have one instead.
  18. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Curse almost made me quit the game, but then I found myself in Problem Machine's Dark Souls stream and he told me about Oswald. What a stand-up guy. Then I discovered you can make it from the depths to blighttown without ever encountering curse.
  19. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I co-oped just about 6 hours ago, so it's definitely working. I co-oped last night too. I summoned two dudes that died to the Anor Londo boss, and it was 2AM so I went to sleep disgruntled, but the third guy this morning pulled through for me! The Anor Londo boss I think was the first time I felt really exasperated about this game. There's a few reasons for this, including the fact that getting into the final building was a nightmare (bloody dragonslayer archers), the bonfire locations were a bit awkward and forced you to wait for stage transformation animations, and it was the first time I've ever been invaded due to attempting to summon for help. Once I did it, I didn't feel the elation I did when I beat other bosses, I was just drained, and I felt like my summon buddy did most of the work for me. Gaping dragon actually felt like one of the easier bosses for me, since it didn't seem to have many attack patterns. I just had to be careful for its kind of scampering attack which I didn't initially realise was even an attack. To date, gaping dragon is the only boss in the game I have ever beaten in one try. Different players would react to different bosses differently of course! So I guess fighting the gaping dragon kinda just fell neatly into the style of fighting I'm somewhat good at.
  20. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Awesome! Getting 8 friends into my tiny apartment may be a problem, however. As is finding all the controllers for them xD
  21. Idle Thumbs Streams

Just found the vod of the DayZ stream that was re-uploaded recently. I can't believe I spent an hour watching someone ride a bike and roll down a hill. But I'd do it again.
  22. Idle Thumbs Streams

Whooo really fun stream today! I'm sad for the loss of Similar Face but I feel Ted Crews will bring an enlightened Breckon to victory.
  23. Idle Streaming Community: Twitchy, Tasty

I enjoyed your stream the couple of times I tuned into it! You do a good job of talking through your thoughts/actions while you're playing. That's something I often forget to do. It's not that I feel weird talking into a void, I just get too caught up in the game to remember to comment on it.
  24. Idle Streaming Community: Twitchy, Tasty

Hey I'll be streaming the Overwatch beta now! Again, my twitch is at https://www.twitch.tv/superhiero
  25. Idle Streaming Community: Twitchy, Tasty

Oh hello, I'll give your stream a follow since I like watching people play Souls games. I have a stream that I rarely use. I mostly stream StarCraft 2 and Heroes of the Storm, but I'll also stream short single player games sometimes if I happen upon them. I streamed my whole playthrough of Firewatch. I don't have a set schedule for my stream, however. My stream is at: https://www.twitch.tv/superhiero
