Oh also, since you've asked before, I had no idea that David Lynch was Gordon Cole through my entire first viewing of the show. I only found out while listening to the podcast, I had expected Lynch to look more like the eccentric artist role he takes.

You can expand your age and distance range. For the clumsiness I recommend swiping instead of the buttons, swiping the direction feels more different than tapping one or the other.

Oh, a new Éire Thúmb. ...who's UltimateHurl? Please tell me that's a GAA thing.

Spoiler about the podcast's spoiler section

But again, I think you're justified in skipping classes for a couple weeks after a close classmate died.

I can really see how that cyborg morphed from a Google glass wearer.

Sweet. I've already got a couple good notes for Acfred. I should play a bit before I get the save file, to refresh my memory of the game.
-
I'm excited for this, even if you can't finish up the write up until then could you let me know if I am going to be playing Acfred? If I am I'd also like to write a bit of the retrospective to set myself up for how I'll be playing.

Do you also have wide feet? I have to assume that's been a part of my struggle, and not just because it means most shoes don't fit me.
-
How do you find shoes that will actually last? I've mostly only bought relatively cheap ones (ie. €20/$30ish) before and predictably I destroy them after about 4 months. It is partly my fault, I seem to be hard on shoes, constantly walking everywhere and usually having just the one pair. But now that I wanna get a non cheap pair I have no idea how to sort out flimsy expensive shoes from ones that earn their price in lifespan. It also doesn't help that I don't get leather ones. Maybe I should go back to wearing bread bags on my feet.

This sounds amazing! Also I am tickled that the article begins with "not all girl scouts".

Also a cool thing about Lyne is that the puzzles are procedurally generated. Other technical note about King of Dragon Pass, can the audio be turned down or off on it? The couple times I've intended to play I got stopped because of the title screen blaring music that was not affected by my volume controls.

I regularly cull podcasts when I start to lose the fun of them so all I listen to now are the Thumbs and Justice Points as my main source of actually talking about games.
-
I'm totally planning on having parental baggage in my write up. I think I ought to even do a paragraph retrospective of my life before I start playing.

Idle Thumbs 194: A Grave Ghost
SuperBiasedMan replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Of all the Zelda games, Majora's Mask does remain my favourite even though I never got to play it. Everything about it feels like I'd be on board, if only it was on a convenient platform for me. -
I'm gonna say up front by the way, I am totally gonna be the screw up child that'll wreck my father's lifework. I look forward to this experience! (Sorry Gor)

If you replace gaming with Spelunky, then yes.

Oh man, I'm gonna need a good long sit down to read that but I am already psyched.
-
But friend.zone is still available for only $39

Oh, well yes. It is totally context dependant but there are times like that. I'm not actually sure if this is true, but I've heard people claiming that foxes will kill every chicken they find upon breaking into a farm. Even though they'd eat maybe one or two at most. In that case, sure. The lives of those animals outweigh the life of that one Fox. Mmm that example is probably iffy since some people might agree on the basis of protecting livestock. So I should also say that if they were a pack of wild chickens I'd be as protective of them.

Yeah, I find that in general veganism in particular gets branded as an extreme and strict system of life but that's never really been how I approach it. I feel like I've just built a system of morals that mostly match with veganism but I inevitably operate it differently to others. I think that's still different to being arbitrary though. It may not be based on hard and fast rules but there's reasoning behind the choices I have and do make. If this counts as an arbitrary line then what system doesn't?

All of the time? Maybe I didn't explain it well but my point is that humans aren't the most important creatures. Our lives are still valued but they shouldn't be assumed as more valuable than a dog or a cow.

I wish I had more time for this thread right now, but it's worth pointing out that thinking all species have a basic equal value is not the same as saying their lives are always of paramount importance. You can be pro choice because a fetus is only partly developed and it stands to cause serious issues for the mother. You can be for preventing mosquitoes because of diseases they spread. The core idea of anti specieisism (at least to me) is that we don't assume humans are more important by default. That thinking is what generally makes people ok with eating meat, because they're just farm animals and we're humans. The idea that humans are superior can only be validated by human ideas of what is important. Just like sexism makes male traits both the default and valued, specieisism makes the world view humans and our ideas put above the interests of other creatures. So no, it's not about saving every animal, it's just about stopping us killing and undermining so many.

And occasionally if you try to message them, they'll just unmatch you. I also thought of the best terrible and quite 90s name for it, the Friend Zone.
