  3. wrong thread

People please stop telling people this is the wrong thread for posting in. This is actually the thread for posting and realising your posts are in the wrong thread. If you want to tell other people they're posting in the wrong place, then this is the wrong thread.
  4. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I have no particular qualms with emulators since none of the current gen of stuff can actually be emulated, but it could be a good idea to encourage people to pay for legitimate sources of the games. Either just for the sake of it or as gifts to friends. For example the PSN store can be accessed and bought from just a browser, so you could buy PSOne classics without having a Sony console. It might be good to suggest that people don't use emulator 'tricks' like speeding up the emulation to get through Pokémon faster. Stick with the original experience (unless there's some serious unusable aspect to it). Voting is probably the best approach. I like the sound of veto/anti-votes in theory at least, might be fun to try that out (if it's not too much of an organisational headache). I'd also like a semi official mandate that genres will be changed up from game to game. For variety and to avoid genre fatigue, since there's plenty of RPG or FPS classics but not everyone is particularly a fan of the genres. ...should this be its own thread now? Or do you want rules sorted first.
  5. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I'd be interested in that. I'd stress low participation necessary maybe, like "don't worry about finishing the game, just try play some of it". I'd definitely be able to spend some time playing a game each month but I don't know if I'd have the time/interest to finish them all the time. Also do you know how you'd pick them? I'm not sure what'd be the fairest way to keep most people invested.
  6. It would be improved if it was Resident as an adjective, an evil that resides and does not go away, rather than just being a noun to mean... the mansion I guess?
  7. Crusader K+ngs II

I uh... may look into reforming paganism. <.<
  8. Crusader K+ngs II

I'll see how remaining unreformed goes. If I can form my empire, I think I can avoid massive problems with succession, since I'll have a single primary title, rather than two duchies/jarls/kingdoms that need to be split up between kids. My main beef is the succession issue, I can live without the other stuff. I was just unsure if it was actually removed fully or I was just doing it wrong.
  9. Crusader K+ngs II

Has anyone played a long game as a pagan ruler? I started off in Sweden as a germanic pagan and I'm doing pretty well on my route to building the Scandinavian Empire, but it seems like some mechanics just aren't useable or useful for pagans? I know to an extent it's just how pagans are restricted (ie. the single fixed succession law), but it seems like it's stacked to push me into either converting or reforming paganism (which I just found out I could do, if I get enough holy sites). For example, the technology menu seems to be half useless. Why upgrade castle holdings if I can never build one? Likewise with the culture options to increase vassal opinions. Each of my counties will only ever have a single tribe, so all the building and upgrading stuff is out the window. In theory I'd like to just plough through the full game as an unreformed pagan, but is that just an impossible task I'm setting up for myself? Should I reform the religion so I can stick more with how other societies work or embrace the changes with being pagan?
  10. That sounds super interesting. Maybe a way to try and systemise it is to think about what exactly you want to convey and frame your mechanics around that? For example what if you wanted to do a Yawhg-like to show how society can undermine a certain group? You could have 2 separate groups of players, and both start with approximately the same stats. By visiting certain locations or performing certain acts you can up your skills just like in the Yawhg, except that one of the groups you can play as is limited by what they can do and where they can go. The flavour text shows that even things you're allowed to do have restrictions on them (they could be laws, social restrictions etc.) so even when you can perform an action or go somewhere, maybe your skills don't go up as high, because of other barriers. The result would be that in the end game your success is heavily weighted, even if you began from relatively equal footing.
  11. Nintendo 3DS

I thought the terrible loading times were due to my bad internet. But that's been fixed and it's still so damn slow. I want my free plays! *bangs fists on table* I feel like aside from that it does everything right bar the monetisation. If I can get 1-3 free plays from a good go in the test catcher, then why am I gonna pay just to get just 5? If I cared about getting specific badges sure, but I've just been min maxing and never bothering to place the badges on my homescreen even. I think paying €1 for 5 plays is fair in a way cause there's a lot of solid work here, but it's not priced well against the free plays that it feels like a disincentive to buy.

I think "wrong thread" is the worst title on the forums to be honest. edit: wrong thread
  13. Making Mr. Remo Uncomfortable

It was a cold January morning when I alighted my usual bus journey. I was tired, and it was late. I wanted nothing more than to get home and relax. However, that was when I caught sight of the man. He seemed aggravated at some unseen foe. And inexplicably carried a massive bag of toiletpaper and nail polish. But I knew who he was, it was Mr. Remo. I was familiar with his work, and without even thinking I mumbled his name aloud. He turned, hearing his name and stared at me silently. We sat that way for too long, neither speaking a word or knowing what to say, until he broke the silence with a flat "What's up?" - Excerpt from "Making Mr. Remo Uncomfortable" by Thomas Pynchon

  19. Crusader K+ngs II

This would be an amazing addition to the game. Forget just worrying about matrilineal marriage. All your marriage machinations can fall apart if a savvy parent slips in a clause that their child has lost their claims, and then you could flip that around by taking out any other heirs to the throne.

  22. Powerball Fantasies

Once I have the Powerball in my possession I could finally absorb its full power. Then I'd crush those meddling kids and the whole world will be MINE. EYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Also I was thinking about getting a PSTV.
  23. My entirely unfounded on fact assumption was that the list isn't about barring the listed people from particularly dangerous products/companies, so much as saying "These people are on a list, don't do business with them" to businesses. So UE4 wasn't singled out as someone who should follow the list, they were just implicated in the list's general usage.
