I found the ending to Season 1 pretty satisfying, it was just a cliffhanger ending was all and they haven't picked that story back up yet (but will soon I reckon). I would slightly suggest people try season 2 to start mostly for better production values and them being more used to the show. The very start is infamous for them spending about 30 minutes trying to decide how to get off a boat onto an island, which is basically just starting the actual game. I still loved season 1 and am looking forward to them going back to that world.

Yeah, aside from the occasional parts where characters/scenes/images get compared to a specific anime I don't feel like it's super anime dependent? It's just a weird sci fi noir mash up that takes some dramatic cues from anime. That said I don't watch much anime either so there might be more influence than I realise.

Also this weeks episode was super good. I love this show.

Idle Thumbs 262: Dead Letters
SuperBiasedMan replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I want a VR experience where I'm explicitly just a ghost that can move through walls and peek into other areas. -
There's a weird once off punishment allowance for rebellious vassals. The game lets you get one free pass, like taking one title, ransoming them, banishing them. But after that one action your vassals expect you to stop, otherwise they think it's a bit much to take two different counties off them.

Doesn't it affect other vassal opinions if it's seen as tyrannical?

Stellaris: Iron Victoria Europa Kings in space!

I declared a rivalry against someone I was planning to war with which gave me tons of influence points. Those ended up being very handy for soending to ignore their repeated calls for a white peace. -
I want to replay at some point but I really don't know when I should. Is it better to run from 1 through to 5 when that comes out? I was younger and less media literate when I started playing them so I think I might get a bit more out of what's happening now, especially because I've played the third episode and know where it's going.

Idle Weekend May 13, 2016: Just, like, your opinion, man
SuperBiasedMan replied to Rob Zacny's topic in Idle Weekend Episodes
Please play Stellaris Danielle! My response to the whole 'suitable' reviewer part of the controversy was that I'd like to hear the thoughts of someone who isn't deep in grand strategy. I've played Crusader Kings 2 but it's literally the only strategy game I've played in recent years, so I definitely feel like a bit of an outsider who's having fun with my goofy space people and I'd like to hear how Danielle responds. -
Yeah I've only ever played as a free count who works his way up, never under an emperor so I have no idea how that works.

I might be a bit wrong, but I'm pretty sure... - Demesne is your direct holdings. The duchies, counties and such that are just yours and no-one else's. - Vassals are your underlings to whom you give control over land (a duchy, county or whatever). You can only have so many direct holdings, after that the game has you start to lose control and vassals get pissy with you for being too involved and powerful. The number of holdings you can have varies, which is why it went up for you. If you hover over the number it will show you where it comes from (eg. What are the modifiers etc.) Revoking lands is tough. I've never had the Pope stop me, but vassal opinion often does. It's tough, because you're not meant to revoke lands. It's quite tyrranical, but when the vassal has rebelled you usually have just cause (as long as you didn't 'use up' your retaliation by ransoming or executing them). As with demesne size, if you hover over the button where you want to click to revoke a title I think it should show you the modifiers why it may or may not work. But again, the Pope never got in my business so this may be different.

Stellaris: Iron Victoria Europa Kings in space!

I suspect that it was for usability they stay still. As it is I find the arrows that send you to another galaxy to be confusing and unreliable, I always use the galaxy map to navigate instead. -
Man, this is definitely not something you could do now but that last gif makes me think this could be a really good 2D style Superhot.

Idle Thumbs 262: Dead Letters

The Chocolate Factory simulator where you're killing children for their flavour of the seven deadly sins and trying to bequeath your factory to a perfect child just sounds like a smaller scale Crusader Kings 2. -
[Dev Log] Dr. Breckon's Similar Sausage Face - A Brain Training Game
SuperBiasedMan posted a topic in Wizard Jam 3 Archive
This episode title was so evocative it was pretty clear what I needed to do. A Dr. Kawashima like game, about detecting faces generated from sausages and comparing them to real human faces. Technically you're just training the robot's brain, but I'm sure there's no harm in teaching a robot how to make faces. I'll start tomorrow with some sausage sprites and a basic face generator to show you how (bad) they'll look. I'm going to request some photos of people's faces, but I'll set up proper requirements for that tomorrow too. Til then, please prepare your sausage faces. -

Or a formula that sets draw order on updates? Draw order = y * scale value -
I'm not sure if they understood that the actual appeal from Start Up was the inside open knowledge it gave people. They were honest with faults, flaws and troubles. But the season 2 company were clearly trying to leverage for good publicity so they're not gonna be quite so honest and open. Season 3 diverged even further so far, it's just unconnected different stories about start ups. Not remotely what I was interested in. I wish Mystery Show was back.

[Dev Log] Dr. Breckon's Similar Sausage Face - A Brain Training Game
SuperBiasedMan replied to SuperBiasedMan's topic in Wizard Jam 3 Archive
Speaking of faces, the face is in the game along with some very badly generated sausage faces! I have a goofy sausage face algorithm that'll learn nothing and just look dumb. It's a bit bland now but I want to add more sausages, more different sausages and tweak the values for more chaos. Here's the gif of the face in with the other faces: Upcoming is better sausage faces and creating a real UI-y layout. -

Oh is there a formal way to forge an alliance that's not just one ruling the other or agreeing to be friendly? I thought I'd gotten as far as I could with my neighbours, without establishing an actual power structure. -
A waking sim mod for Dark Souls would be super valuable and world appropriate frankly.

Stellaris: Iron Victoria Europa Kings in space!

I was doing a small bit of trading and was completely unable to get what I wanted, then I realised that it was actually because the ethics of the other species essentially prohibited them wanting to give me it in any circumstance. (it was to allow civilian ships in their borders, but their collectivist nature made that effectively impossible) -
Stellaris: Iron Victoria Europa Kings in space!
SuperBiasedMan replied to Cordeos's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
Dropped my 40 bones on it and was pleased. Me and my brother made the Space Pirates from Metroid and had a lot of fun with our collectivist, fanatically materialist, repulsive and autocratic dictatorship. Highlights include: Immediately fighting random unhostile alien life just cause we knew we could beat it. Finding a derelict ship building station and activating it to create the huge mothership of our fleet. Finding the first actual other race we can communicate with, discovering they're peaceful and immediately resolving to play nice and build an embassy while we prepare long term for war. Briefly trying to use subterfuge to colonise a developing world, only to have them reach space age so we had to crush them in a war before they had time to build ships. And now we're immediately flying our people in to rule the planet. I look forward to getting crushed (as befitting Space Pirates), because it's been going too well for us so far. -
I have nothing to add but that was a really good post Mawd. As someone who enjoyed the regular Dark Souls experience I was thinking similar thoughts but you worded them way better than I would.

[Release] Suddenly the King of France
SuperBiasedMan replied to RubixsQube's topic in Wizard Jam 3 Archive
I agree with Xeneth, and I hope the King gets the opposite dialogue. Bellowing for people to move out of his way. It would also be funny if they were in french, "Excusez-moi", "Pardon" and "Désolé" would be good, depending on how much you think that would affect readability.
