Detention block AA23. Prisoner transfer from cell block 1138?
  2. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

I dunno, the lightsaber battles are so much better than the Starkiller base shit that I fail to take issue with it. I think Ren is probably the most interesting of four great characters, which is the film's biggest strength.
  3. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

I can't make 32 bit mode working, so I couldn't tell ya. Whatever link Wooks posted last page about opening the launcher from the Steam folder in Explorer (as opposed to Steam itself) sort of kind of worked and let me fix the VC++ issue I was having. But the supercruise thing is so crippling it makes the game unplayable for me. Upon entering supercruise, the frame rate just grinds to a halt from a locked 60 to 17 (17!) FPS. This has apparently been a known issue since August. The only fix as of this moment is to roll back drivers--drivers so old, they don't support my GPU, that is.

I am under the impression that Ren isn't fully trained in the ways of the force, and that includes his lightsaber technique. Rey has that pike, so she already has some feel for melee combat. Ren is also emotionally overwrought (mostly over killing his father moments before) and wounded (having been shot by Chewbacca and grazed by Finn wielding Luke's saber). I also dislike Starkiller/the First Order stuff quite a bit, but there's a bigger gap of time between 6 & 7 than there is between 3 & 4, and you'd imagine that Starkiller base is founded upon years-long R&D so it's not impossible to imagine it having taken the Empire/FO four or five decades to pioneer the technology behind it.

    Continue crying.

Went to see this again yesterday. Still want them to flesh out the politics a bit and limit the use of OT characters to a bare minimum. I don't like Rian Johnson's movies, so I'm a bit anxious to see what happens here. Hopefully Larry Kasdan, Kathleen Kennedy and JJ are the brain trust and Johnson's just getting to do a first pass at the basic arc of the movie.
  7. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

Fast as fuck--all my games are installed on a 500GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD. This is a known bug for Windows 10 ED players.
  8. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

The problem isn't AMD-specific, though it appears to be AMD-centric. Apparently this is another welcoming present from Windows 10. The game auto-detected hardware and set the Ultra preset. Besides, the issue is very specific--it only happens in supercruise. It's not that my GPU can't handle the rendering, it's that it's not being told to render anything at all--like I said, the GPU utilization drops to sub-20%, according to MSi's Afterburner software. Either way, this is horrendous and will prevent me from playing the game until it's fixed.
  9. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

i5 4670K OC'd to 4.4GHz MSi R9 390 16GB DDR3 1600 GPU utilization drops to nil when the frame rate tanks--this is the game, not my system.

  11. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

But I'm already on the roadside with a ski pole pickin' up my antique cans.
  12. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

So uh, this game performs like garbage on my system. I drop down to 22FPS in Supercruise.
  13. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

I think this is a Windows 10 update problem, actually. The problem was an MS VC++ Redistributable bad install. I hadn't played Elite since upgrading (and certainly not since SP 1 went live).
  14. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

So I tried opening the launcher through Windows Explorer and it threw me a Visual C++ redistributable error. Googling this led me to an MS support page which suggested reinstalling MSVCR. I repaired both versions via installers in my ED folder and now, finally, the game will open. What a frustrating, stupid journey.
  15. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

So I tried unlocking the frame rate and all I can say is... Guys, you ever pick locks at 7,000 frames a second?
  16. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

I don't download the launcher--Steam does. At that point, Steam hands off the reigns to Frontier's launcher. Everything says it's up to date and the game files have been verified. It's just not opening.
  17. Photos of things

I used to deal with a company called Pounds Labs. They're here in Texas, but they might let you order online? We did all our ordering via a java client that let us upload images directly to them. we could specify crop and whether the image needed to be calibrated or not. Do you have calibrated monitors? Investing in a cheap colorimeter is a good idea if you haven't. I got the old version of the Datacolor Spyder for $100 from B&H back in June. You can currently get the new version for $140.
  18. Just Cause 3

New patch went live yesterday. Not exactly sure what it affected other than the initial load time. Everything else seems about where it was, which is to say, fine if you turn off v-sync. Hopefully they can fix a few LOD issues and smooth out the frame rate of the coastal areas.

Also, have you guys seen the deleted scene where General Hux interrogates Poe? It's amazing:
  20. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

This was about as good as it possibly could've been. It's not the second coming, but it's a fun action movie that has all of those things you liked as a kid. Complaints: The four new leads are all aces, though I could've done with a bit more Poe.
  21. Same thing happened to me nine months ago, though I managed to diagnose it in an evening. But what a stressful evening it was.
  22. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

I'm running the latest beta drivers for my card and I had an 8GB update Tuesday. I'm tellin' y'all, it don't work.
  23. Those builds and prices are incredibly unrealistic and/or misleading. Most of those Partpicker builds don't match your listed totals as many of them don't have pricing for the GPU. I also can't imagine the Witcher 2 running on integrated graphics, let alone Witcher 3.
