    Cheers! <said in a sinister British voice>

That's definitely the way much VC spending goes; I might be more mellow on it because the VC folk I've met are small scale and actually interested in developing things over the medium term rather than looking for explosive growth.

I don't think there's any problem with artists taking funding; assuming they can build up an audience and develop premium things that people will want to pay for above and beyond the basic service (which I believe is their premium plan?), there's no reason to think they'd have to compromise the service. That being said, the world is the way the world is so it'll definitely inevitably be compromised and degraded ¯\(°_o)/¯

If there are any invites going, I'd be interested in checking Ello out. Need to see what Twitter run by artists feels like.
  5. [gamemaker] watch me handcraft a video game

Yeah, I want to see where this game goes! I've gone a few steps ahead, making some changes in my game. Instead of a desert I've made it into a tall building, you've got to hit the stairs and that'll take you up to the next room; and instead of an action roguelike I'm trying to make it into randomly generated maze-like puzzles. I've not yet worked out how to have it certain that the random generation won't make the maze impossible, but I'm sure it's a solvable problem.

thanks for doing these Voxn, I'm following along in an attempt to make a game for my friends. Wish YouTube had a better bitrate though, occasionally get confused with some of the code when it blurs.
  7. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hello! I'm Rahul and have been listening to the podcast for years but am not really a forum goer so hadn't visited here. But then in the latest cast they (again) mentioned how good this place is so figured I'd poke a head in.
  8. I'd love to hear them discuss English Passengers by Matthew Kneale. I just recently finished it and thought it was a brilliant piece of writing. I think they'd get a kick out of the variety of perspectives the author writes from.
