I've decided I want to make a game about wizards, cheeses and puns. After what I've learned from the previous jam, I've decided not to try 3D yet. After a few nights of trying to get a 2D platformer to work, dinosaurssssssssssssss gave me a link to https://github.com/prime31/CharacterController2D which I'll be using to cheat in the jam. This does everything that I tried to make so far, like making the character not get stuck on walls when he moves into them mid air and an upper limit on speed that's consistent in the air and on the ground. I got a slight handle on animations now and thankfully someone else is making those. My brother's helping me by making all the graphics and animation. Here's 2 gifs of the shitty cheese wizard idling and walking. The animations look much better in game, they're smaller there! Planned features: Levels, puns, cheese shapeshifting, a story, sprites/textures, a boss named after the most evil cheese Dream features: A story, a hidden waluigi pachinko parlor, the moon

The fact that you're literally helping to hang someone isn't at least somewhat problematic?
-
You could enable the witcher sense coloured objects to show up on the minimap if you wanted to keep trying it.
-
You can actually find the goat without using the bell but just using the witcher vision. There's tracks that lead from the hut.
-
I really liked the goat bell quest.

Also regarding the special drinks, inn keepers will restock them if you buy all of them, close trade window and open it again. Good way to stock up, they're really expensive tho! I think I remember reading how the devs made sure to dynamically set prices depending on your gold so they'd look fair and you could buy a bunch of stuff but you would never have infinite money. Or they did it in advance with general balancing.

The forever clicking candle loop was very adventure game-esque. Good job! Also art is superb. Can't wait for #2.

I found a cool bug, if you hold down and press up you will get launched into the air. It's sweet, you can explore more of the non existent secrets. Also: Game breaking bug, if it isn't at 60 FPS the physics doesn't work right. It won't let you fall down white platforms so try windowed if it's acting weird like moving too fast down the ramp.

There's no need to get 100 of any herb, you use them to make bombs/potions once, then the potion/bomb refills whenever you rest for the cost of 1 alkohol unit. You might need ~30 herbs for the whole upgrade path of a potion, with some overlapping but you can buy them in mass later on. There's a very well stocked herbalist outside Oxenfurt's walls. Also a good place to find potion upgrade recipes. I never ran out or bothered with food after the starting area. But I didn't play above normal.

HH lets you get out really fast, just kill/attack any of your allies and you can leave.

Can't believe this thread was buried on page 5! We were all spamming the slack irc channel with hype for 6.86, the page is worth checking out even if you aren't playing dota, it's that good. It has a comic! Zeus gets to ride a cloud like mario! http://www.dota2.com/balanceofpower http://cdn.dota2.com/apps/dota2/videos/686/zeusvideo.webm

Thanks for playing. The animations were all made by my brother!

Uploaded it! http://jutranjo.itch.io/wheyoftyromancy Still missing the end, I couldn't get the scripting for the boss done in time. Alt F4 to quit still. There's a secret hidden in the Roquefort dungeon if you want to do something besides escape.

Idle Thumbs 240: Mikami's Iconic Hat
Jutranjo replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Great game, they patched most of the stuff you had problems with, like the grappling hook physics: http://steamcommunity.com/games/langeskov/announcements/detail/89308003010278660 Also steam achievements are listed but bugged, I couldn't get any to unlock, not even the one for playing the game. -
This microwave is the most banal slight to any person I've read recently. Also what kind of shit microwaves do you have that don't just reset the timer to 0:00 after half a minute of idling?

Bullshit, I opened Richochet this year or last year and it had actual people playing on servers. 10-20 servers, 1-5 people, rest were bots.

Valve made a deal with Frog Fraction's creator, Half Life 3 is hidden within Frog Fractions 2 which is hidden in a random game jam game. It streams once you reach the point so you can't know by judging file sizes.

There's only one that was/is actually good at more of them, maybe two depending how you count migrating after a community dies. There's Iceiceice (not to be confused with ice, iceice or icefrog), who at some point played SC2, http://wiki.teamliquid.net/dota2/Iceiceice http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Iceiceice He might be your best bet, in this interview he mentions http://www.gosugamers.net/dota/news/13079-iceiceice-talks-about-blizzard-sea-invitational-lol-and-dota Grubby, one of the best Warcraft 3 players (one time world champion), played SC2, I think he just streams HOTS(the LOMA) now http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Grubby There's these two guys who tried to join pro dota2 teams after playing SC2 a bunch then switched back. I think Select was the better of the two at SC2 (he's korean, babyknight isn't) though Babyknight was also ok at it. I remember select saying he'll show everyone the importance of micro in dota2, he switched back a few weeks later. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/SeleCT http://wiki.teamliquid.net/dota2/SeleCT http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/BabyKnight http://wiki.teamliquid.net/dota2/13abyKnight Actually looking at it, I have no idea what babyknight ended up playing last before retiring or whatever. Last person I can think of is Scarlett, she is probably one of the best foreigner players at SC2. Might quit soon according to the liquipedia page but who knows. At some point she took a break from SC2 and started playing ranked DOTA2, aiming to hit 6k or 7k within a few weeks and quitting SC2 if she managed to do it. I think she got 6k with meepo spamming but went back to SC2 anyway. I don't think she played in any pro team unlike the others listed. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Scarlett

What's Warcraft 3? Who wants to play some WC3 free for all melee maps? 6-12 side FFAs are great in WC3 as opposed to most RTS games I've tried, at least older games. You have 3 additions that help a lot in FFA games: You have an incentive to leave your base and kill neutral creeps/whatever you find. Your heroes get exp from that so even even trades with an enemy has you gain an advantage as opposed to trying to avoid any and all conflict until you are maxed out. Army maintenance, the food cap is 100 overall but when you go above 40 food you lose 30% of your income from gold mines and some higher % gold loss when going above 70 food. Again a benefit not to sit in a corner and max out tech/food, even ignoring the level 1 hero problem. Town Portal Scrolls, your first hero starts with one but you can buy more easily from shops (neutral and your own shop building in base). Target them at a friendly town hall and they'll make your hero immune as they channel it (maybe interruptable? can't remember) and after a few seconds the hero and all units nearby will be teleported away. Good things that result from this: You can fuck up but still leave without losing your entire army. You can attack things away from your base and still come back in time to defend it! WC3 FFA is IMO the the best multiplayer FFA RTS. Battle.net is still up but we can also play over LAN. Or we can do team games. If you're interested please post here so we can see what timezones/continents we're looking at.

A youtube channel I like uploaded a long (~45 min) video essay about Fallout 4. I thought it's a good watch and the author talks about the mechanics and themes he did and did not like. Also it is not some NMA guy shitting on the game. Also it has spoilers.

I haven't bought anything from Double Fine since Stacking/Psychonauts in a Humble Bundle so I'm not much bothered with the Space Base thing/Broken Age delay. I thought they'd at least mention how their first kickstarter campaign fared and what they've learned since then, since they went and put it in the pitch video.
