Interesting concept. I'll brainstorm on it. Maybe be a good chance to practice some more low poly aesthetics.

Thanks for recording that video. It has convinced me to give the game another shot. I have not found any other dev commentaries, but I still have 10 games to play. In all honesty, that diversifier was a long shot, but too good not to include.

With the weekend coming up, I wanted to make an appeal to any forum members to check out the Winter Wizard Jam games. A lot of the community here put in a good effort to make games, and I'm sure they would love to have them played and get some feedback on them. Thanks!

Very charming. The illustration of Sean was particularly good.

This is good, it's getting late and that ending tickled me good.

Too bad to hear that working on this didn't really happen, but I applaud the effort regardless. Hope to see more from you in the future.

[RELEASE] Call of the Winter Monarch, a puzzle game
Spenny replied to jenthetracy's topic in Wizard Jam 2 Archive
Definitely a feels like a well thought out set of puzzle mechanics, and has a good look to boot! -
Very nice atmosphere creation. I hope you had some fun creating this.

Yeah very interesting mash up of games you made. It seemed sometimes the ball randomly had gravity, was a little confused by that. Also, I love the pixel art and lack of music, really makes me think of the atari game you find at the bottom of a box.

Thanks so much for doing a developers commentary, I cracked a big smile when I saw the option, and it was definitely the only way I was going to see any content in the game. I felt like the gun rotation was way slower than i could even use to try and move myself somewhere. I'd be interested to see a video of you beating the game.

I wasn't able to figure out much with what i was supposed to be doing. I could hit the bubbles but they either hit a brick and died or hit the ground and did nothing. But your pixel art is on point, and I love how big the dungeon feels. Really evokes a lot in my mind.

Your strat on the level with the jetpacks and vertical stones is next level. NEXT LEVEL STRAT!!!!!

I used a code snippet similar to the one found here. private const string TWITTER_ADDRESS = "http://twitter.com/intent/tweet"; private const string TWEET_LANGUAGE = "en"; void ShareToTwitter (string textToDisplay) { Application.OpenURL(TWITTER_ADDRESS + "?text=" + WWW.EscapeURL(textToDisplay) + "&lang=" + WWW.EscapeURL(TWEET_LANGUAGE)); } Thanks for the high praise! Thanks for saying. I'm sure this is obvious, but the progression both tutorializes the game and sets up the jokes later rounds provide. I'm not sure how I could balance out the desire you express with the design goals of the progress. Also, in terms of physics stuff, Bennett Foddy gave a great gdc talk on unity's physics. Good primer to get you ready.

This one is great, I only played one round, but I'll probably go back. Simulator mode is a good goof.

My not so subtle edit to the team building thread was sort of a frustration with the team building situation. That thread is tight, a clean 30 post list of potential team mates. I just think the whole situation is a middle school dance, everyone is hanging against the wall waiting for someone else to ask them to dance, instead of making the move themselves. In talking about running this jam, we really wanted to make the team building process a thing that actually worked for people. I even suggested being a game jam team matchmaker if that's what it took! Probably the things we would need to know, is what stopped those looking for a team from finding one, and what allowed those who did find a team to do it. I'm going to take that as an opportunity to say, just like Dinosaurssssss handed me the crown of Jam Master, for the next jam, I will also be looking to hand off the crown. We'll figure it out closer to the date.

Hey, just wanted to take the time to give out a few thanks. Thanks to Dinosaursssssssssssssssss and ZeroFiftyOne for help administrating the itchio page. Thanks to Jake for cleaning up this forum after the last Wizard Jam. Thanks to Dinosaurssss again for his post jam community rallying and for spicing up the jam with his Team Big Dogs idea. Thanks to all the Thumbs for taking the time on the cast to pay some attention to our jam. Thanks to everyone on the slack giving out tips and tricks and help to those who needed. Thanks to all those who helped brainstorm the diversifies. Most importantly, thanks to all those who participated and submitted games. This game jam really wouldn't be anything without participation, and seeing new people come out to try something made it all the better.

Very good, majestic even.

Let's Plays of Winter Wizard Jam 2015 Games
Spenny replied to Travis's topic in Wizard Jam 2 Archive
I am definitely planning on doing a let's play of all the games, as well as some talk of my own. It probably wont get done until about two weeks from now, but I had the idea of roping in one of my game dev buddies to be blank slate to it. I'll probably record a video of my own game too. p.s. use tag -

Really nailed an old school vibe. -
[Dev Log] World of Blanks: Gunnin' Six
Spenny replied to Super_Jogurt's topic in Wizard Jam 2 Archive
With a little more polish this game could really be something I think. All the art and design had me and the lady laughing, its just the controls held us up a bit. -
This is a game that feels way too polished for a game jam. Love the art. Love the sounds. Good job.
-
Yeah this was entirely intentional, but I can understand how it came off as buggy and not deliberate. I plan on recording a video of myself talking through the game, a back handed way of doing the Designer Notes diversifier.
